Over two years into ownership and absolutely loving this car, coming from a Ferrari 458, Porsche GT3 and Lotus Exige 410 the McLaren 600 LT Spider is a truly fabulous car, my favourite of the lot, the 600 LT really gets under your skin, it is the McLaren I always said I'd own and now I have one, love it!
Yeah I always loved P1 but no other McLaren did anything for me until 600 came out just the side profile and top mount exhaust such a special car to drive.
Greatly appreciate this comprehensive review/breakdown mate. Even though the 675lt is my dream car,the 600lt will be my entry into the supercar world and tbh, the 600lt is very close in almost every metric to the 675lt anyway, so I'll be very close to my dream in this👍🏿
Had a 911 992 Carrera s sold it the ride was to jittery under 60…bought a McLaren 570gt best handling / enjoyable car I’ve had since my Lotus Exige s2…love those wheels 👌
Stunning car, really enjoy how in-depth you dive into your ownership experience! I would love to hear some of your takes between the 600lt vs 675lt since they are both track oriented models and similarly priced. What makes you choose the 600lt over the 675lt?
I've got a video going live Friday comparing the 750S to my 600 LT and these thoughts should ring similar to 675 vs 600, I like all the McLarens but I prefer the feel and sensations I get from the more basic suspension setup of the sport series, find the more engaging and feel. The super series are more capable but lack some of the engagement and feel I want, but are still generally better than competing Ferrari's etc.
@@Gibbo205 Thanks for the reply! Looking forward to your new comparison. Yeah I agree A lot of Ferraris these days are too insulated when compared to mclarens.
Is the painted area on your wheels palladium? I have black 10 spokes, but like you I hate black wheels and am planning to buy a set of the 5 spoke. I was going to get them diamond cut with black, but I like the look of yours. I'm pairing them with McLaren Orange and carbon.
+1 on the track inspection cost. It's even more expensive here in the US, 2 years of extended warranty is around $10k and the cost for both inspections is about $950. There's a video knocking around of the US CEO talking about the "trivial" $600 cost few years ago, just to rub salt into the wound......
Very good video! How are you able to operate the roof from the FOB? I couldn't find anything about that in the manual and wasn't able to figure it out on my car either. Mine is a US car so maybe they don't have that feature?
Just checked mine and list price was £201,500 for the spider . Plus options extra How did you put the roof down off the key have you added the aftermarket smart roof box
Can you also clarify "ESC Dyn off". Do you mean you're in DYN on track, or all the way off? I've only done two track days so far so have only gone as far as DYN, but I also like the rear when it's moving around.
@@Gibbo205 I'm waiting for a slower track with plenty of run-off before I go all the way! lol. COTA has a lot of escape routes, but it's fast as hell everywhere, and the other two tracks nearby, although slower, aren't places you'd want to be spinning. I ran Trofeo Rs for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and it'll also be the last. They were unpredictable enough that I didn't even go to DYN. I'd rather run on Corsas, less outright grip but much more reliable when you reach the limit. Back to Goodyear Eagle 3R for me.
Ok thank you, I have 430Cup Final Edition and use Henderson Taylor but their included track insurance can effect road insurance if you claim for track accident. Looking at getting a 600LT so was wondering going with someone else. Thanks again (just rewatched the video again and you mention insurance 🤦♂️)
@@TheRuscky ClassicLine not sure if a claim would impact road policy but excess is 10% of cars value, always found them great to deal with (never claimed) and competitive pricing.
@@TheRuscky It was a custom job done by a chap in the 600 LT owners group, he had a few made up for fellow owners. Don't think there is any left now but it looks OEM and works well. :)

I enjoyed this, enjoyed just hearing your thoughts. The 600 lt has the best profile of the Mclarens in my opinion.

Owned my coupe for 2 years also put 18k miles on it it has it all looks driving experience can’t beat it
Is the stereo system good?
@@AnnAnn-xx4ufI think one in mine is superb it’s the upgraded bowers and Wilkins
I’ve always loved the aesthetics of my F355 GTS but I am so loving your McLaren. Simply stunning from every angle.
Thanks you
That’s a beautiful spec out 600LT. I love my 570S Spider, but the 600LT is a dream!!!
Thank you
And you'll be pleased to hear that in the US, there are no insurance companies that include track coverage. A single day with Open Track is $1200.
Thanks for that tip, I’ve never liked the look of exposed carbon fiber , so good to know the parts are still carbon underneath the paint

Have you ever had the orange engine fault warning light come on within your ownership?
Nope car has generally been reliable, no worse than Porsches and Ferrari's I have owned.

Smarttop a separate device you can fit Google smarttop and should find it
Is the roof scoop spec worth getting for the coupe or definitely go for the spider?
Spider all the way, so much more car!

many electrical issues to maintain?
Issue free for two years but currently has a weird issue which is been diagnosed and hopefully extended warranty will cover

Dynamic traction enabled, so it allows more slip angle but still some safety net enabled.
