Rad video man, came from the mt Ritter arrest vid. I’m in love with the sierras. Born and raised in socal, did annual backpacking trips with my pops. I’m pretty novice so this all fascinates me. I’d love to do this one day

What is the name of the peak with the snow at 11:02?

No rope required to get over Rae Col, but we had gear for other purposes so we employed it just to make it easier/safer especially because of the loose boulders and heavy packs. I like to carry a small rope just for options or to get out of a jam, but there are always down that might just take a bit of creativity. I like the route over Rae Col - not very difficult and no traffic though I'm not sure it saves much time; or maybe it was my crew? Easier from Glen Pass to SLB versus hading back.

Thanks for the quick response. Maybe I'll just head to Rae Lakes and pick up the trail to 60 Lakes Basin there.

    raydoubleutube,
Could you have downclimbed over Rae Col without using ropes? I would like to head toward the 60 lakes basin before dropping down to Rae Lakes. Is that what your friend did not using ropes?
