You do get lucky sometimes as some people really do just want to get rid of their toys without the hassle of trying to make money. I picked up 7 Fans Toys figures for $600 combined. I got Astrotrain, Kup, Trailbreaker, Cyclonus, Perceptor, Springer and Mirage. I also picked up Jetfire for like $180ish or somewhere around there. With the exception of Mirage, Perceptor and Trailbreaker, all of them came without boxes but had all their accessories and instructions. Kup was also missing his Targetmaster and that was it.

Always CURIOUS as to WHY FT has NOT reissued their Dinobots? Or SixShot? Or Guardian Robot? They would make a Serious Bank if they did, as long as they kept the Pricing in line with the OGs, and changes the Box a bit to differentiate.
Because people who want dinobots has already moved on to Gigapower. With lesser consumer base, it is risky to reissue dinobots. The most recent reissue of swoop and sludge has performed so poorly that Fans Toys has to put an halt the futhur reissue of other dinobots.
When I got back into collecting, I missed out on all the early Fanstoys. Then, I saw the INSANE prices for the dinobots, insecticons, reflector, and perceptor. Quakewave was still available, but I didn't like him. As a result, I purchased Maketoys Visualizor on clearance for 90 shipped. Gigapower dinobots were next. Got 4 dinobots for what FT's Stomp was commanding on the black market. Bought a final victory 3 pack and MMC reformatted insecticons. And so began my journey.

Great video! I’m glad I’m going about it this way. I just started collecting Masterpiece a few months ago. Thanks to your videos I started with ShowZ. I was able to get Magic Square MS-02EX, X-Transbots Commander Stack, and becasue of your video I bought X-Transbots Klaatu. I was able to preorder Deformation Space Starscream as well for a deal. I decided to try and find figures as you’ve suggested at retail or close to it and found X-Transbots Big Load as well as my first Fans Toys of Jive. I’m doing as you’ve suggested again of preordering as much as I can to make sure I’m not going to have to pay the resale prices I know I eventually will on other older figures. My son collects Legends Scale and now with me on Masterpiece it’s brought us back to our love of Transformers that I was lucky enough for him to take in as a young boy and now still going forward as a grown man. I really appreciate your videos on tips and tricks as they’ve helped me immensely to make my money go farther. I never thought I’d be able to get in to this fully but now I am and can’t wait for more videos from you. Thanks a lot for your content as well as anyone who takes the time to read this lol.
I was in your boat, I just started collecting last year. My best strategy for the older fans toys has been on the fb groups and when guys are unloading their collections you do get some decent deals compared to eBay and sometimes they’re under what the original retail was when the figure first came out. FansToys really creates some good figures, but that RoadKing is the one that caught me. It's exactly what I imagined a modern Motormaster to be. MM was always a full cab & trailer transformation and FT nailed it. I'm not a fan of the cab only versions. They're just not the same.
TF Source prices are pretty close to AUD prices….which for us Aussies is disappointing, because then we have to convert the price again. I totally agree with you about Fanstoys (& Takara), best to preorder these. I regret missing out on Hoodlum & Relector. That being said, Fanstoys only makes up about 35% of my collection because I’m open to other brands - for example, I really prefer the Badcube Insecticons over any other design AND the price is competitive.
I was lucky to get in on FansToys with their original Quakewave figure (though it was just out of stock and went on secondary market), then I got Scoria and I've collected many of their figures ever since. I did actually buy a MP-01 trailer way back after picking up the "20th Anniversary" version, but the trailer I got did not transform, it was simply empty with a loading door in the back, and did not open up otherwise; I don't believe this trailer was FansToys and may have predated the FT release... Just a heads-up about some of the figures on the TFSource screenshots, including FT Dracula (Mindwipe) and Mercenary (Shrapnel) - you'll see an orange colored corner with the word "Vintage" in the upper left of the photo - I'm not 100% positive, but for what it's worth, I believe these are pre-owned figures that were sold back to TFSource by private collectors, though I'm not sure if they were MISB or not...so the pricing on these figures does not really represent the OG retail sales.

I've used TFSource a handful of times now. They're the exclusive distributor of those MakeToys RE-color seekers and I've bought those through them. Just bought Col Mustard last night and Moody Blue last week. I'll probably sell some of them a year or two from now. I'm up to 12 now and I'll probably only keep 6-9 that I like the most. It's looking like they make a few more before they put out something new like that headmaster they've had on preorder for a few years now.
I’m like you when it came to catching up. I started collecting MP in 2018. So I was Wayyyy behind and now Inhave paid with my wallet. I have over 50 MPs, mostly FT and XTB. I have a few other 3rd parties and some Takara that are toon accurate. Off question, I placed a presale deposit on “ShowZ” for dead end. Now with them coming out with the full price of 399… I can’t find my original deposit of 40.00 on ShowZ. How do I address this?
Spotter is by far the best reflector. Buying everything at retail as it’s released costs a lot per month, I know because that’s my thinking too. I always wonder how much dlx Baldwin spends a month, he seems to buy EVERYTHING. I myself am always so excited to open a fans toys project, but I don't buy them all.

I admire the engineering Fans Toys has put into its many designs, but I see no reason to spend so much more money on a figure when it has a suitable and sometimes superior analog from other manufacturers.My first third-party purchase was an X-Transbots Gravestone. I love the figure. It doesn't have the same incredible engineering of Fans Toys Roadking, but it doesn't need to be for my money. I've since purchased two other X-Transbots "Stunticons," and I'm very happy with them, too. They don't need to match the size or detainling of the Fans Toys figures. I now own 45 Masterpiece toys, not including Targetmaster partners or accessory figures, and none of them are Fans Toys characters. If I were to buy one now, I'd only select one of the Decepticon Headmasters figures, as there are no characters like them on the market in a Masterpiece scale.
Only ones FT did that remotely catch my interest now are Jazz (FT48 Jive) and Mirage (FT49 Phantasm); still lookin' to get the KOs of Soundwave (Acoustic Wave) and Astrotrain (FT44 Thomas). Mirage is kinda goin' for bonkers money. Both FansToys and Transform Element *ALMOST* had me with Blaster, but neither of them have Stripes, Sundor, or Rosanna among the Tape Minions. KFC has Rosanna, but she's locked behind Twincast the way errybody locks Ratbat behind Soundblaster.
I'm just waiting for FT's to re-release their Slag and Reflector. I finally got their Shockwave figure when TF-Source had that one available not too long ago. I got TT Shockwave but he's too short. I always pictured Shockwave being the same height as Megatron Now with the release of the Dead End coming...I'm hoping and praying that FT's re-releases their Stunticon set the same way they're re-releasing their Aerialbot set. After seeing how well that Menasor looks...it looks superior to the DX9. It's not even close. Was going to go with DX9 as my Menasor but nope...I guess I'll be trying to sell that set once I get a second FT's set.

Buying from China is too risky imo, mainly because of the risk of knock~offs that are not what you’re actually wanting to pay for…. I just saw this tfp “zombie” bumblebee with a black & purple paint job (Listed for like 174$ us with 60$ shipping … and you do a lil digging and it’s a knockoff bumblebee figure at around 56$ that has just been repainted/reboxed) China just seriously has a cultural problem with producing cheap knockoffs in just about every sector of their economy…. With the war in Ukraine and China kinda supporting putin is just another reason for me Even though I have a few personal friends in China

I strongly recommend Fans Toys to make a version 2 of some of their previous figures like: Spotter, Quake Wave and Cesium but with more die-cast.
I also hope that as a community, if we urge Fans Toys to reissue some of these figures, they might like they did with Stomp and Soar back in 2020. I STILL don't have Scoria/Cesium or Grinder.
