Blow me down…I used this trolley bus route in 1957 aged 18. From Golders Green to Willesden Green.
Then tube to Wembley Park. Worked at Semtex Ltd in Empire way. Really appreciate this filming and am
amazed at the pristine views of the streets and the folk. Great memories! Alec Antrobus

I used to go through Cricklewood to my Grans and would have done this in 1957. I remember catching the bus at the first bus stop shown on the right. We did not catch the trolley bus though as that went up towards Child's Hill. Happy memories.
PS I had relatives who worked at Handley Page

Completely magical and hypnotic. Everyone in their Sunday best. Winifred Atwell on the bill. Such a modest and unassuning part of London. That is what makes it so special. Mostly still standing, but has seen better days. This is like time travel.

It was most probably filmed on a Sunday

My Dad is a Tipperary man. Worked in Cricklewood in the 50s 60s. Must showed this video to dad. He has a set of cups and saucers at home he won at a fair in 1956 in Piccadilly. He was 15 when he first worked in London. Returned home and joined Irish army, gave 6 months in the Congo as a UN peacekeeper, done his time and back to London again. He had tailored made suits done for him at burtons corner

The trolley travelling up cricklewood lane, from traffic lights, pearks opposite, burtons on the corner, queens cinema, saw norman wisdom film there, behind the hoarding on the right were lots of stored steam locos waiting to be scrapped, cricklewood station on the corner of Claremont road, where the express dairy was, on up to the lights at hendon way, marvellous bit of memory lane film

What a lovely trolley-bus trip down Memory (Cricklewood) Lane! I know it well, but only in recent years. What was Peark's, that you mention? What happened to St Agnes Church? Do you know what the factory looking building was, where the Co- op is now? Someone told me they made aircraft parts, but I don't know. There was the Handley Page aircraft factory/airfield (?) off Claremont Road, that now goes towards Brent Cross. The row of houses towards the top of the video were built in the 1880's, and the ones opposite, in the 30's. There was a farm where the Hocrofts roads now are, hence Farm Avenue, but that would have been much earlier than this video. Anyone with memories of this area, please write your comments, I'd love to know more. Thankyou.

Cricklewood looks nothing like this anymore. Such a shame, it looked like a pretty little area, now it’s become run down with a lot of daylight dealing nearby the B&Q. Some terrible urban planning decisions have been made evidently.

Fantastic piece of film and music to match the mood. If only we could step through the screen to a better time and I could take 65 years off me. How the powers that be have spoilt the country.

I’m amazed! Been living in cricklewood since 2009 it’s changed allot since then my oh my this is splendid.
The tall white building at 0:14 on the left we used to climb, it gave amazing views as one of the tallest buildings around, it got knocked down in 2020 however to expand the road below into two lanes at the junction.
I’m so shocked that there are no cars! A far cry from now with cricklewood having the A5 run right through connecting central London with the M1 and the North.

    I grew up here
Look at how beautiful it used to be
    I lived there from 1961 till 1969
I remember almost every day at 41 Midland Terrace with my sisters
I’m 64 now & I still don’t feel at home in the North of England
Cricklewood will always be in my heart
I remember the Smiths Clock factory
Anyone got pictures of it as I can’t find anything of the building from the outside
My dad used to take me & my sisters on the Railway Turntable as he was a steam locomotive driver
Health & safety didn’t exist & get in the way back then
    Beautiful beautiful video footage

This was a Sunday. Loads of people exiting St. Agnes’ Church.
I guess this was Route 660 trolleybus en route to North Finchley.
Hendon Way is still a single carriageway.

@@kimmendoza7890 I was thinking that you may have went to St Agnes School because it was within your catchment area. I left St Agnes in the summer of 1969 for secondary school so I think I spent a total of seven years there. The headmaster in my time was a Mr Metcalfe whom if I remember correctly was portly in stature. So I followed in your footsteps!

Further proof that the best shots of daily life is not what's in front of you but from behind.. people are not conscious of being filmed and are more natural.
Great shots up Cricklewood Lane from the Broadway and most of the buildings still exist and functional (although the building on the right at the junction with the Broadway is due for demolition to align Cricklewood Lane with Chicele Road on the other side) and Hendon Way has just TWO lanes??

Well we moved on progress, it was progress wasn't it?
Well I was a mere 4 then but remember the trolleybuses in Tottenhamtill 1961.
Surely 1957 wasnt perfect, but now you can't walk around streets any more, the swinging 60s sex drugs and rock and roll saw to that.
Now we have police who go out with body armour on.
