GGG: "The next RTS game will fail because of lacking user-generated content"
GGG: "To make my point even harder, I teamed up with a bunch of modders to make user-generated content in SC2 even easier and more user-friendly!"
I honestly don't understand why a company hasn't just copied the SC or C&C formula.
@@Mantis_Toboggan_TrashMan some have they just failed
@@Mantis_Toboggan_TrashMan it's because the manager is not a gamer, he/she doesn't give a fuck about her/his team doing, it's money grabbing for them, it is even so common now the managers don't play their owe game
@@hailuong9295 The guy who led the development of New World had never worked on a video game before, and allegedly didn't even play them.
And it showed. You'd think Amazon would hire better people with their money, but all the money in the world still doesn't replace good old nepotism and cronyism. >__>
My man Grand making StarCraft 2 the best RTS for 20 more years
Imagine if blizzard was still good, damn
It's still shocking that something like that was found after like 10 years of SC2 being a thing. Feels kind of like when a new stat is found in some speedruns of classic, but extremely popular games.
Thats called "no gaems"
Modders are always pushing the limitations of the games they play. Look at the Skyrim modding scene, they're still discovering new stuff.
"found"? From what I understood, they developed a new tool.
@@StormflameMW They made the tool in response to finding this new ability to mod the campaign.
Reminds me of all the crazy stuff Thief modders have pulled off. Now that's a real classic.
Let us have a moment of silence for those modder who’s time has been lost prior to his innovation.
his sacrifice will be remember
Who is time? Who has time?
they die in the dark so we can live in the light.
F
Their sacrifices are what got us this far. They are the untold heroes of the dark age we needed to traverse to reach this point.
But most importantly, Rames Jaynor.
And his evil twin James raynor
Remember kids: friends let friends massacre civillians
He's the nam who's gonna sill Karah Serrigan
i read "James Raynor" and genuinely thought it was the misspelled version
i cannot read the name correctly ever again
rames jaynor my beloved
Remember, cowboy: Friends help friends commit war crimes.
GGG: "I've run out of things to do in SC2."
Also GGG: "Guess I'll motivate people to create new content."
LotT being the epiphany of modding difficulties is insanely correct
LotT took me 2 1/2 years to make, hopefully this can help others in the future
Holy fu-
I guess that explains why it's so polished
Quick question, what does "LotT" mean?
@@JWQweqOPDH i think its legacy of the terran aka terran lotv I may be wrong tho
@@JWQweqOPDH Legacy of the Tal'darim.
@@JWQweqOPDH Legacy of the Tal’darim. LotV w/ an entire host of Tal’darim units
As someone who has been working on his own campaign, I can confirm its an insane amount of work. You can actually see my campaign at 00:23
The 3 missions with the marine icon xd
you are a legend
Should i be grateful that i have seen all the vod/vid to understand the game and its mods without even playing it, or should i be sad about the fact that there will be no time for me to play this incredible edition of the game
Porque no los dos?
Yeah both seems acceptable
Both
I don't speak spanish but I still understood what that comment said because I was thinking the same thing
I had a lot of custom campaigns in SC1 and was very interested in continuing when SC2 came out, but the sheer complexity of the map editor scared me away. Seeing this makes me happy. I unfortunately don't have the time or will to get back into Starcraft campaign-making, but I hope it inspires others. Once idea I had, I remember when I played Nova Covert Ops that her system for upgrades seemed like it would make more sense for Raynor - allow his units to have up to two upgrades assigned to them, have upgrades interchangeable between units, but you only get one module when you get a new unit and Raynor has to pay to buy more modules, and in addition to other upgrades the lab upgrades and branching missions can give unique, extra-powerful modules. Like if you only get one Cellular Reactor upgrade, which unit will you give it to? If the Marauder can only use two of Stimpacks, Concussive Shells, and Kinetic Foam, which two will you take?
I wonder if anyone will do something like that. I've seen the three base campaigns mixed up, but I could also see it being done with Covert Ops. Kerrigan can have modules that turn her different Zerg units into different strains or give them different upgrades, and Artanis of course could have modules that make the base Protoss units into one of the tribe-specific campaign variants.
SC2 has always seemed hostile to custom campaigns. The entire Arcade seemed to only have been set up for single map mods, probably to try and encourage more custom games like tower defence and DotA, but as someone who loved campaigns like Antioch Chronicles and Legacy of the Confederation, and even bought Insurrection and Retribution, all the hoops to jump through for mulitmap campaigns in SC2 has always been incredibly frustrating.
And they got it right in War Craft 3's Frozen Throne expansion, too
@@mrravinraven Yah custom campaigns were basically as easy to use as this campaign manager, just drag and drop the file. Plus you could have a proper mission select with background art and interludes that were just like the official Warcraft 3 campaign. And of course, what you did in one mission carried over to the next mission to make bonus objectives more worth it and have a proper sense of progression.
This all makes the fact that Starcraft 2 only properly had custom campaigns so much later on disappointing, especially when you consider how limited they still are. Either Blizzard didn’t see or didn’t care about user generated single player campaigns because they could have and should have been so much more
The funny thing is that SCBW's map editor was a whole lot more friendly to use than Galaxy Editor.
The kicker? 90% of the things you do on the Galaxy Editor could be done on the SCBW Map Editor. Hell, you could even remake the entire trilogy campaign into SCBW.
SC2 arcade is trash, editor is way too hard to use to it cant catch up to what people do and still do in Warcraft. Glad to see though that Stormgate will solve this and combine the best :)
@@PuellaMagiHomuraAkemi😅
Future RTS’s should include built-in custom campaign features. Either a way to mod the og campaign(s) or a basic prebuild for missions, cutscenes, and upgrade select screens.
Little Big Planet 2 was like this. You could designate levels as missions or cutscenes then chain them together with portals which you could activate automatically. People made entire movies.
I tried out the mod manager for real scale Heart of the Swarm. It works and is easy to use. If I'm done using mods and want to play the regular campaign I can just switch it off. It's an absolute win.
I find it absolutely amazing what you and all the modders do. Keeping the PVE content in SC2 interesting and fresh and dedicating so much time and effort into making all these amazing custom campaigns and mods.
I hope there are plans for Nightmare HotS and LotV, I would be very excited to play through all 3 campaigns on a higher difficulty than brutal!
Same especially HOTS.
I loved to watch and had a burst of enormous fun watching mindhawk's gauntlet! But man, keep up the amazing content! Who knows, maybe i take the custom campaigns for a spin aswell. Thanks for sharing the experience with the community GGG!
Ty for making me remember the zeratul mision, going to rewatch it 10 times again. Brb
Thank you so much for your efforts and enthusiasm in making this possible.
It's fun enugh, how passion can make beuatiful things, you got a game where the viewer is not high, created your base, evolved the game for you to continue to play, increased ( i hope ) your fan base, gave everything back to us, honnestly, I hope THE BEST for you Grant! Thank you and modders to handle campaign and custom games live alone!
I have been doing my own let's play of nightmare difficulty hear on youtube and I have to say its super fun thanks for making this possible to you grant and all the mod makers as well.
GGG just made my day easier. Thanks! Not only will this bump my playtime, it'll qllow me to make eight custom mapsets instead of one massive campaign for my brother! So much effort and time saved! GGG is a lifesaver! The Vesharim's Return should be done in another couple months for my brother to test, then after its deemed suitable i will send it to you GGG
Wow! I'm looking forward to trying all this out! This is incredible!
Very great job, Grant!
Thank you very much!
Your impact to the community is immeasurable
It's actually pretty amazing how a group of talented and dedicated fans can uplift a virtually abandoned project and DRASTICALLY prolong its life (like do you know there is an anime mod for Descent Freespace: The great war?) Cheers, Grant
Ive literally been praying for something like this to come along. Thank you so much
Big thanks to everyone making mods for SC2 and keeping the game alive, I love hitting up all the custom campaigns
Great work! Work like this really helps keep games alive! The community for SC2 is crazy :D
I have played through them all except nightmare as I'm a casual. And I loved every second of it, it renewed my passion for SC and gave some enjoyable moments. Everything that you guys did is superb and I can't wait for more!
Really thankful for modder's resources like this that enrich the modding community so much! Your channel really reignited my love for RTS!
I haven't touched SC2 in such a long time and seeing all this effort for custom campaigns makes me want to reinstall it. Those real scale campaigns honestly look like a ton of fun. Keep doing what you're doing Grant!
Amazing stuff, looking forward to try these mods & campaign!!
Man i was asking for that nigmare difficulty for wings when i saw your playtrough, thank you and everyone who worked on it as hard as you did
you are a god for SC2. Realy and i mean it ! You are the one who gave me back this burning passion for the game. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
Really great work!. Thx in the name off every fan of the saga.
The Deathless series got me to Granta channels, but the mod manager got me back into SC2. What a blast, and kudos to Grant and the modders for all their hard work!
You know what I love to have the most regarding the simple campaigns...
double the unit supply, more mineral incomes, faster access to technology (to diversify the way you play the campaign) and mostly a zoom out camera to see big armies of zergs rolling around.
This things sound simple enough on paper yet none of them I seen to come to life other than spectator mode and arcade.
The Real Size Mode shouldn't be that broke is you ask me and if so it could actually improve the experience for low tier units been just a bit smaller to avoid clumping on each other.
Thank you for all the time you put into this!!!
This is so good. Great work Grant and modders
this is actually so sick, excited to try this out
I salute you grant! You have been going way beyond just creating content for the SC2 community, but paying modders and providing systems to better implement the more fun size of starcraft. I can say that all the custom campagins you been playing have gotten me back into SC2 alot more
Thanks for all the hard work yall put in!
So something pretty cool about the heart of the swarm randomizer is that on the second mission I got the WOL version of Kerrigan and insta-killed the archangel.
This is something that SC2 has reached.
It feels like it's reached a whole new era.
yeaaaaaah wacraft 2 ost !
Thx Grant and all of the modders to help SC2 campaign survive this well
im seriously glad grant and other modder make the game something we can continue to play and enjoy espeacially for us that is non pvp player
This is so fucking cool. I've been playing SC2 since the beta days, and I never imagined stuff like this would be possible. What a thing of beauty.
I was waiting for this! i might actually look into fiddling with things!
Real scale is so much fun, thanks grant and of course rhyme and orca warrior
Looks real interesting, thanks man.
Dude, this is so cool.
Gotta say, you're the main reason I started playing SC2 again. While I'm not very good, I have had fun playing through a variety of things on the arcade - all thanks to you.
Speaking of the Arcade, do you have any experience with the auto-chess battler "Direct Strike" by Tya? I'm keen to hear if you have any tips and tricks, as sometimes I feel totally overwhelmed once armies start getting massive.
Huge work
Thanks for that
You are the reason for StarCraft to be relevant today thanks a lot for your effort in your leader ship in this type of project’s
Considering the pain I had to go through to find custom campaigns for WC3, even the Arcade in its current state is a godsend. This is clearly an amazing step above that - great work!
its very rare that i live a comment on any video but i guess you are my favorite channel among 338 you are doing the best content possible and you are even making moving the content of the game
Two weeks felt just like an eternity!
This is incredible!
OMG thanks for the now reasonable way for me to play modded SCII games extending the play life of this great game, now all l have to do is find the time to get them and play them ;-(
And it is a delight to support you in what way l can giving your passion for supporting the fans of StarCraft and providing such great content all this time, keep up the good work.
You folks are so damn cool, and an inspiration!
Thanks Grant, Very Cool!
ahhh finally ive been so excitedd
Great Video, loved it
A GIANT Thank you!
Well thats just amazing!
Having played HoTS Realscale I can confirm, mod manager is great, mod designers are great, and the mods are great. Ty so much all yall who had a hand in this, its amazing
at this point, Blizzard should just hire these people and give them official license to create these campaigns and tools!
Very cool. I'd love to see some summary videos on your main channel for some of the custom campaigns you've played. I've watched a decent amount of some of the various campaign mods you've played through on the 2nd channel. Some 30min+ highlight videos would be nice to see for the ones I haven't had the time to see, similar to the deathless and no build videos you have on the main channel.
Thank you for the video.
Man you best
I'm hoping to hear about the cross-faction campaigns getting added at some point, to this wonderful project (HotS Terran, Kerrigan Covert Ops, WoL Protos, etc)
This is awesome 👍
This is incredible! The arcade was trash for finding mods and I always thought modders just weren't interested. Then I found Mass Recall and wondered if other high quality custom campaigns and overhaul mods existed. Now I can stop wondering and start playing. Thanks!
7:58 Yaaaayyyyyyy
Car warranty salesman Zeratul made it into the video!
You're amazing!!!!
this looks sick
Long Live GGG!!!
That's a good plan i hope it goes well
The CCM is such a cool thing. I played most of the nightmare version and gauntlet challenge and it is so much fun. I just wish for nightmare+ edition, which would be even little bit harder :P
Love all your vids
Legends!
Eiiii, messed up sleep schedule!
This is the next major RTS, It Won't Fail!!
That's amazing !
This is amazing, I love your work. Do you know if Synergy's campaigns might be making their way on to this system or not?
I really love all your videos, wheter challenge run like the deathless runs or custom campaign like the challenge gauntlet.
Especially the challenge gauntlet, will there be one for heart of the swarm?
incredible
Love Warcraft 2 music in this video xD
I really appreciate that Grant cares more about the actual game than doing sweaty ladder matches and telling people they’re not real SC players if they don’t play ranked.
this is such a cool and useful tool!
As soon as I saw the challenge gauntlet mentioned I thought to myself "when does grant bring up the zeratul spam"
Being able to so easily play these custom mods in the official campaign is such an amazing thing. I really can’t overstate how much better it is to play through a polished campaign mission select as opposed to waiting for long load times and some barebones unit customization.
But I do wonder if one day we can have mods that use something like the campaign select but for campaigns different from the official ones. It probably is too ambitious of an idea that would be really difficult to implement, but an idea nonetheless
I have to say i am still shockingly suprised, to see this. How the community is still alive for Starcraft, what an absolute beast of a community! Yaaaay
Amazing
Thank you
this mod tool is one of the greatest things ever produced
Can attest that nightmare edition is loads of fun. While I’m not interested in real scale, I still appreciate the spectacle. Gauntlet will have to be next for me!
Side note: if someone made a version of HoTS that was good, I would love that.
Thank you for this. THis mae trying to play modding map so easy.
I've been using the SC2 editor to alter both Nightmare & Real Scale. I do things like giving the Predator the jump ability to run alongside Reapers. Both mods are excellent but so far the hardest thing by far is the clunky UI and inefficient coding behind the SC2 Editor. The Duplication feature rarely preserves the references, leading to glitches in game and needing to do most of it manually.
God, that horde of Banelings remind me of the Nurgling animations in the new Total Warhammer. Like, it’s no longer an army, it’s a tide you direct.
sounds cool
This is so cool
Golden age of SC2 had come
