You're teaching him to be a man and sometimes men have to do things they don't want to without recognition. You're doing a hell of a job sir. If only more parents were like you.
@@richardruss30 I sure hope so, I have 2 older brothers that think their cool stuff and live in Nashville, I’m the only kid in my family that has ever worked on the ranch, would be a dream to be able to own this place one day!
@TayRae5 keep it up! Everyone keeps a mental tally on who helps them throughout their lives, I'm sure your family does too. My uncle left me, his sister's only child, his house and ptlroperty after I moved in and helped him for years. I was the only grandchild in the family, was his only heir, other than his other sister and a brother. We are all very close, we talk almost every day. Family is so important. I'm thankful I have a daughter living down in a city that calls every few days and comes home to visit once in a while.

@brendakeller9646 and that's the thing, you can live quite a nice life even without money, I know I've enjoyed life even when I have been poor, always nice having stuff but stuff isn't everything (edit: and hearing stuff from my grandparents on how they used to life I had it very good, I mean my grandpa lived in a grain bin for a few years because their house burned down, eventually got a new house but definitely turns your life in a strange direction)
Plus it also teaches accountability and responsibility. You and Erica are great at all the lessons that ya'll teach your kids. Those are the things that they can pass down generations.
Your doing right Dad and Mom.. Growing up we had to help when my parents logged timber off there property.. We got school clothes and my parents bought our meals traveling..And mom always brought snacks.. We never thought that they should pay us.. Clancy is such a good worker and so respectful..you all work so good together...keep Ranch'en
Thanks for explaining that.😎👌 When I was growing up on the farm, I didn't get paid (in money). Nor did I ever receive an allowance, like many kids do. Whatever the job or chore was, I was simply expected to do it, because I was told to do it. I remember, when I was probably around 14, asking about getting paid. My dad told me that my "pay" was the roof over my head; the clean and new clothes I wore; and three meals a day. I never asked again. The first time I ever got paid for doing any type of work on the farm, I was 18, and had just graduated from high school. My parents paid me an hourly wage, to scrape the loose paint off the exterior of the house, and repaint the the house (with a brush, of course). After that, I didn't get paid again, until I moved out and got married a couple of years later, and would work for my parents on weekends.
You && Erika are raising a wonderful, terrific young man! Teaching him responsibility, how to work hard && appreciate the rewards he gets from his hard work. These are the life lessons most of humanity have lost over the years. Glad to see good Hearted, humble families! Keep posting please && thank you
This is so great! I worked in the summer for my family in Florida as a kid (just got back from there as a whole grown up lol) and worked for different family members doing different jobs and definitely made my own money for school clothes and books! Taught me what hard work can do and how much it can help me get through life especially when my own parents couldn’t afford my clothes and supplies. I really think you’re doing great raising your child and I enjoy your channel so much! Even though I’m not a rancher…y’all keep ranching 😊♥️🥰
Some of the best ranch content on youtube right here. Lil bit of relationship stuff, ranch stuff, real estate stuff, kid stuff. Keep it up bar 7 fam! Ill keep tuning in if yall keep ranchin 😏😉
I grew up on a ranch. This is exactly how I was compensated. This is a great way to teach your children how to work hard. My brother and I both took the skills and knowledge we learned from the ranch and both became doctors.
My parents owned a ranch in California and part of the ranch they raised turkeys for market birds for Louis Rich, Foster Farms and etc. they had a brooder house that held hundreds of thousands of birds and 4 grow out buildings around 200-300 ft long. They paid us when we did any work that pertained to raising those birds. We raised cattle, pigs and sheep for either 4-H, FFA or for our own to sell or eat. We didn’t get paid for our regular chores or caring for these animals because we got paid when we sold the animals. My parents gave us a spot to raise the animals, provided feed, the feed and medicine. They made sure we put most of the money into our savings account so we could buy the next animal to raise. Even with the money they paid us to work for them they made sure we put a certain amount in our savings accounts. We learned responsibility that way and we bought our own vehicles with money we saved. I thank them both for everything they taught us. Keep up the good work you are doing great with your children. ❤GOD BLESS 🙏🏻
This is excellent! You're teaching your child the difference between their job and their responsibilities, as well as why integrity is so important. Great work ethics!
My father provided all of what we needed and a lot of what we wanted. He never paid us for working on the farm until we were 18 years old. But he never charged us for room and board, or any other expense incurred throughout our high school years. After we turned 18, we were put on the farm payroll.
Got him paid with a nice infrastructure to live the rest of his life. Self sufficient. That's a damn good dad and mom. Y'all my favorite family on the tube. Keep ranchin
You guys are awesome your family is very well mannered, naturally kind and very hard working not that it means a darn thing coming from a stranger from the east coast but god bless and god speed I wish you and everyone else nothing but success in your future endeavours ! With love from -Canada 🇨🇦
That’s good. We pay out kids the same way. If it’s work for our farm that benefits us, then it’s best to pay your kids. Teaches great lessons, family time, and they earn some money at the same time. Good job
I got paid in a warm bed food clothes hot showers and all the knowledge my father taught me wether I learned what he did was right or wrong it built a map of life for me good job sir your boy is blessed to have a family like his
We have to teach this new generation not just earning also saving and investing more in depth as well this is one excellent video I retired at the age of 38 years old it feels amazing to just have the freedom to travel and help other young men and women to invest the hard earned money and purchase properties
Yes sir that's correct even a child's time for manual labor is worth something I plowed snow for a feller in wi last year my helper was more flakey then a scoop of frosted flakes so my wife and son would come out and help occasionally when I was running behind I paid my son and wife told my boss I paid em he then turned around and paid me back for paying them n told me if they help let him know and he'll pay em my kid made 500 bucks total for when they came out and helped he still has all that cash to 7 years old definitely a proud moment for me I will say kudos keep up the great work
We had chores around the house to clean up and do daily chores. That was contributing to the household we lived in. We had an outside business that we did to make income for the houaehold. That also was contributing to thebfood on the table and roof over our heads. That was contributing. When we started working we took on buying our own school clothes, supplies, etc. We didn't expect paid to help the family keep afloat! There were 6 kids to keep.
My farther did the same thing, when I was younger I got paid a couple bucks an hour to stack hay. But when I got older and had animals of my own that was part of the care and board for those animals.
I believe you are a good parent. You don't have to answer to no one how you educate your kids. He's living rent free, food free, clothing and school for free...
I remember asking my grandmother for some money for working on the farm. She’s said yes and man oh man I was happy. Then she hit me with. You get paid with a roof over your head, warm food in your belly when ever you feel hungry. You have plenty of cloths, running water, heating and air conditioning. That’s how you get paid. She had a valid point. we’d been homeless most of our lives so I agreed with what she said. Being with her was the best thing to ever happen to me. I started working on ranches near by and picking onions in the fields to get money for anything I wanted. I had to take care of our land first then get to other peoples land when I had free time. I learned a lot at a young age working like this. I had my first paying job at 12 cleaning horse stalls. Those were the days
That has to be the most BRILLIANT way I've heard this explained! This also can go to just household chores. I do this w/ my 14 yr old daughter. The running of the household takes everyone contributing. But to just making your kid a slave is a different matter. Also making your kids want to save up money for their wants is great also.
I can never understand the people who hate on farm kids and parents who raise farm kids. Farm kids are some of the most respectful and hard-working people ever. We'd have a lot fewer issues in society if everyone was raised as a farm kid. Won't find a more respectful and well-behaved child.
Daddy and granddaddy always said till you can drive a pickup you get paid everyday every sip of water and drink. Food on the table and clothes on your back. But not knowing how to manage money correctly untill I was in my 20’s was a big problem. Great that your paying him for some things but please please show him how to manage it and how much it cost to survive. Y’all do a great job!
I was raised on a dairy and we were paid from the sale of any steer calves that were kept and sold as yearlings. Kids today would not even consider working as hard and as long as we did. I could not imagine a better childhood.
I used to get paid 25 cents a bale, to buck it from the fields and stack at the barn. My friend and I split that pay, but we did it every summer, because it was guaranteed work. My Grandpa was the employer and let us used his truck.
You're teaching him to be a man and sometimes men have to do things they don't want to without recognition. You're doing a hell of a job sir. If only more parents were like you.
Amen!! 100% agree with your comment sir. He is raising g a great young man.
Fair is fair.
Damn, that is spot on.
Agreed… bonuses are always welcome though!😂
Being a business owner is always about doing shit without pay now so they get paid later. When they sell those sheep and steer hell get his money.
I don’t get paid money for working on my family’s ranch, I get paid in beef and a place to live😂
Me too 😂
Hopefully, you'll get an inheritance someday. Living on the family property, where generations lived before you, is its own reward too.
A man don't need much more than that!! ❤❤

agreed. I got an allowance if I did extra stuff around the house, but our daily chores paid our "room and board" as my parents called it
In other words this kid is doing really great with smart people around him
Amazing work ethics you are teaching him. You are very wise, fair parents. Blessings to you all.❤

Best example of great parenting ❤ y’all
You and Erica are great parents and are raising a great son.
Family takes care of each other 💯 ❤
Guidance is key and this is a very good example.
...without some guidance ... we are left to our first impressions of people and how things work ...
This is great to hear love what you are teaching that young man!
Great job Cody. Clancey is going to be a great Business person as u and Erika r. Keep up the great work and Y'all Keep Ranching!
Cody you are a great dad teaching your kids how to do the right thing
Perfect logic. Rewarding only when it's due! Bravo to you sir and young fella.
Clancy is such a good kid! Definitely someone I hope Tuck continues to look up to him!

That is probably the best answering could have thought of. My son is coming to the age of helping out and I think that's a great idea.
Teach him the business. Or teach him another business. Love this .
You're doing what's right. Treating him with respect so he learns to treat others with respect. Also the benefits of hard work.
Great parenting going on right there, wish more people would raise their children the way you two do.
Dude that is the best explanation ever. Kids do need to earn the difference of doing a job as an employee and as a owner.
