- Bears President & CEO Kevin Warren sat down with Jarrett Payton at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas to discuss what new stadium sites he is focusing on, if the lakefront near Soldier Field is in play, his relationship with Mayor Brandon Johnson, how he feels about Justin Fields, how he'll help Ryan Poles make a decision whether or not to draft a quarterback, what went into keeping Matt Eberflus and how long before the Bears start competing for championships

Then you throw logistics into the game from the people at the top? The Bears have had Tim Phillips since 1999. Went to a Super Bowl based on defense and Thomas Jones at running back and don’t forget Hester on special teams. No real QB. Then we get Cutler. Okay… didn’t live up to his potential but took us to an NFC championship. Still a shitty offense based on Mark Tresmen and John Fox at head coach blew dick with Mike Martz, and Ron turner at OC that were both afraid to open up the playbook. Jump forward to Nagy. He had Tribisky playing so well in 18 that he went to the pro bowl. Same fucking offense Mahomes runs now. And now???? The Bears are finally trying to conform to what an NFL team should be in this day and age. Heavy pass offense, explosive weapons, and a defense that can slow down another team that uses a great modern day offense. Which we did in the last stretch of the season, got rid of Luke Getty’s bitch ass that had fields playing like shit and playing hesitant. Personally, idk about fields. But I do know that I haven’t seen upper management this calculated about decisions ever within the Bears. Before you talk shit, just know great things come when you play chess and not checkers.

Absolutely. Warren is largely responsible for building the greatest show on turf. King poles drafted Mahomes (he literally called in the pick). Both have spoken highly of H1M. We are set up for years of contention with all 3. Great time to be a bears fan!

I personally want to keep Justin. It sounds like Warren is expecting Poles to trade the #1 pick. He mentioned drafting at 9 ONLY. And he mentioned how we flipped the pick last year for DJ Moore and he expects that to be the same outcome this year.
He also talked about the reason why we didn't change head coaches. They like what they saw from Fields and feel they can actually win with him if built brick by brick.

Warren gave some clues in the interview but nobody really knows what's going to happen. 8:30 Every year JF1 will continually get better, I'm glad he's on the Chicago Bears. 15:30 When you see that (team that doesn't quit) you want to give people time. That includes Flus. 15:58 Wants consistency and this will be a critical year. When you draft a rookie QB it's rarely a 'critical' year.

What I got out of this was that Kevin Warren likes to do research on things before jumping in full force. And even when a decision has to been made, he seems to be prepared to meet the challenges if circumstances change during that decision. He seems to have a big influence on what happens with that draft pick. Which he also values Justin especially since he’s known him pre Bears. So could it be Justin is staying in Chicago? 🤷🏾♀️ lol he could also be making sure that Justin lands somewhere where his talents and will shine but I mainly see them keeping Justin and this is just beefing up the trade value. I could be wrong

The Bears should sign Justin Fields long term. Caleb Williams is not Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes is Patrick Mahomes. Chicago needs to trade back with both of their 1st round picks and get additional draft capital. With that extra draft capital the Bears can make their team significantly better. When I watched the Super Bowl I saw two teams that had very good offensive and defensive lines. Green Bay and Detroit run the NFC North due to the fact that their offensive and defensive lines are better than Chicago's. How is Chicago going to make it to the playoffs if they have the worst offensive and defensive lines in the NFC North. In the 2024 NFL draft Chicago needs to draft 3 offensive linemen and 3 defensive linemen, 2 wide receivers, 1 safety and some depth players. Currently the Bears only have 6 draft picks. By trading back with both of their 1st round picks the Bears can get extra 2024 draft capital and some future coming years draft capital. The media keeps saying Caleb Williams is Patrick Mahomes. No Patrick Mahomes is Patrick Mahomes. I do not want Chicago to draft Caleb Williams. Justin Fields wants to be a Chicago Bear. Before the 2021 draft Justin Field's parents visited Chicago and said they would like Justin to play here. Keep in mind his parents said they would like for Justin to be a Chicago Bear before the 2021 draft had taken place.That was a good Omen. You did not here all this negative press that Justin Fields does not want to play in Chicago like you are hearing about Caleb Williams. Caleb Williams may think he is too good for Chicago. If we don't plan on using the elements to our advantage by doing a dome field...then what difference does it make to stay in Chicago when all you'll see is the inside of a building once your there...I like the soccer roofs where it is like a retractable tent canopy that closes up into jumbotron at mid-field....I think that would be perfect...use the elements and city when you want or need it, keeping sights of your skyline and closing her up when unplayable elements come....

@drpicmeup my 2nd choice was build it right over lake shore drive. It's negative space and you can turn that into park space with the museum campus. Cars can go right into it and exit.
Use soldier field for high-school games and college games. You can have 3 games in one day so it fills up. Even make a small dome and practice facilities instead of Lake Forest. Soccer back to back to back. Hockey even.

Trade #1 to Washington. Don't try and get as much as everyone is saying.. Get #2 pick this year, a second rounder this year, and first rounder next 2 years.. Trade #2 down to new england for same thing... You'll have 4 #1's next year and 3 #1's the year after that.. This year take MHJ with the #3 pick. Take Odunze with #9 pick.. WR room done for the next 4 years minimum.. With 2 new 2nd rounders this year take OL and DE. 3rd round look at Safety and OL again. Then fill in with the rest of your picks with guys you are willing to take a shot on.. If in the future Fields doesn't work out you have multiple 1st round picks you could use to trade up in draft.. However there is also a huge possibility that Washington/Carolina/, and New england could all be bad teams next year and you could still possibly end up with a hi draft pick without even having to trade up... Best draft capital acquistion in NFL history.
It still kinda hard to carry over momentum from one year to another. I get his point of view. Only that the last lost to Green Bay was included in how they finish. Hopefully that will be a learning experience. I just think its way too early in the process to read or have faith in anything.

Glad to hear the new stadium will have a glass type roof simce it wont be retractable. I would like to see a grass field however and it would have to be like Arizona and Vegas where it is brought in and out on a giant "tray". You dont go from three flukey Ls away from 10-7 with your QB1, who was the 7th best QB in the entire NFL the second half of the season, having him miss 4.5 games middle of the season, defense is one more player away from being ELITE, to drafting a rookie QB and going backwards. MHJr., another OL/EDGE and lets get those 12 wins with the NFC North crown. This team dominates the NFC runner up Lions! Just imagine what MHJr, a better OC and OL, and another game changer on D will do!!!!!

Respectfully, Fields costs 6M in 2024’ and 26M if they use the 5th year option for him in 2026… Please consider the amount of cap savings on what would have been free agents now gained in players via draft (trade haul) and the cap hit is not that extensive. A solid edge rusher is easily $15M/year if not $20M plus. Wide receivers, tackles, DT’s… all $15M/year +. Draft capital is the way to go.

They need a Dome stadium it’s too damn cold up there. That would definitely help your offense out a bit especially the QB.
