Let her go. Let her be independent! Yes, the mother irritates me no end because she thinks her daughter owes her, but I find the father and brother also infuriating because of their inability to stand up to the mother. They are too passive!
And for Gods sake the Dad and brother need to stop coddling the mom and tell her the truth of the matter. Every single bad thing happening is because the stupid mother cares more about money and status then her daughter. And she makes damn sure she knows it every single time she speaks to her.

I love (sarcastically) how the mom plays the pity card that she did all of this for her daughter. I'm pretty sure there are many other ways to love your child. Using your daughter for money money isn't one of them. Mom may try to convince herself that this is love but if she opened her eyes to look, she would her daughter is miserable. I'm convinced these shows are made as PSAs for all of us to learn from.

Parents don’t treat their children as human beings and then get surprised their children don’t want to be around them. I hope they don’t make her forgive her mother without an actual apology. But families of color rarely apologize so I’m assuming they’ll just have her forgive her either way because she’s the child. But the mother tried to marry her off to man she broke up with, slapped in her front of everyone and told her she wasn’t her daughter anymore. Why is she surprised? Why is the daughter supposed to take horrible behavior just because it came from her mother.

I gave birth to both my kids because I WANTED them, not for what they could possibly give me in the future. Both are grown now, and left home, and honestly it's a pain when they come home - treating the house as a supermarket - and surprisingly they always seem to appear right after we've gone grocery shopping - damn kids 😂

There is not one baby born into this world that asked to be born or indeed into which family they are born into. You are using your daughter to climb the elite ladder. That is disgraceful. Arranging behind her back a marriage/engagement is beyond disgusting. Arranged marriages should be outlawed. Some may get happy marriages but it is not based on love it is based on financial aspects of it. 29 and living at home look at yourself truthfully and ask your self why she is doing so. She supports you and I don't care what Chinese culture is like no child should have the responsibility of having to not only provide you with a home but living expenses also. I would NEVER ask my children for money. Respect your daughters decisions and stand firm with her not against. That beautiful young lady should be your pride and joy not a ticket you can latch on to and use and abuse as and when you feel like it.

I figured (considering also IRL, the Chinese population is dwindling). But these ridiculous C-Dramas can't seem to get over the worst of the tropes. They were OK at first, but now seem to be all alike. And you can tell the CCCP seems to be requiring these dramas to promote marriage and children. Lost love over years, CEO, "Cinderella" nonsense, been away, reunited, meddling mother or "CEO" grandfather, etc, etc, etc. And too many episodes.
