Sorry to hear this and well done on posting about it and being so open. The reality is this happens to a lot of us and yeh perhaps we can do more checks our end but unfortunately things can look to be legit and its only when the £££ are handed over we realise the truth. The day you get your 944 will come, and he will get what's coming to him.
Dont feel embarrassed or silly mate. Too much off this goes on. You got the right attitude about it. Be safe. Be vigilant and you will definitely get your 944!
Oh Mikey... you shouldn't feel embarrassed and/or stupid - it takes guts to admit that you've been had here, and you're the brave and good guy for be able to do so - especially on such a pubic platform. The other guy, well it rhymes with hunt and blunt and I might get be banned from UA-cam if I type it. Kudos to you for sharing the story and helping others to avoid the same traps - chin up, and good luck with the ongoing 944 search !
I got scammed buying BMW alloys... They're very convincing but there's always a rush of some sort. I was looking at a 996 last week on gumtree and then checked Ebay and saw same pictures but listed in a different part of the UK... Looked a little further and the Ebay seller had about 20 cars that were copied off Gumtree or Marketplace ads. Total scam. There's no shortage of A. Holes out there.and you just get left feeling violated! New sub btw... Im now after a 924 project car but will only be buying local where I can see it. Best wishes 👍
Thanks for sharing and thanks for the sub. Yeah, there are definitely plenty of a-holes - glad you didn't get caught out. Stay tuned, as there'll be lots more 924 content this year.
So sorry to hear this Mike! I swear scammers have gotten so hard to detect in the last year or so, and especially on Facebook marketplace... Everything seemed so believable! I would easily have fallen in the same trap
Don’t beat yourself up mate easily done, and you’ve made more checks than most people would’ve to make sure wasn’t a scam. Hopefully he’ll do it to someone local who knows where he lives and get his come uppence……karmas real mate trust me it comes around 👍👊
That's awful mate, you will get your 944 and it'll be that bit sweeter now you've gone through this. Also massive respect for making this video and warning others.
This was a really tough watch man and i feel your pain, i could have easily been fooled the same. Mad to see and i hope he was lying about the 111 people but something makes me think its possible that he's not lying. Usually see this kinda scam with nice car parts usually well priced and in a nice location. If it doesnt feel right or if you dont know the person always use paypal, offer to pay fee's if they moan.
Theres some scum bags about. Feel your pain mate. I was selling my X5 a couple of years ago and a guy came to look and switched my key with another identical key. Luckily i noticed before he was able to come back and steel the car but I still ended about £800 out of pocket due to having to have all the locks and keys changed. We live and learn from these things. Hopefully you didn't loose too much mate.
Sorry to hear your story Mikey - but as you said, hopefully you putting this out there will make others stop and think - and could save them getting scammed too. Karma will get him.
Just randomly stumbled across this video. I recognised you immediately from blockbusters right? You had a red rx8 and if I remember correctly a Honda civic type R before or after that. Hope you’re good man!
Just to add to this - the fact I wouldn’t have seen you or your car in what…15 years? And I was just a customer in blockbuster - the second you said your name at the start of the video confirmed the face I saw in the thumbnail. Just shows what an impression you had on a young 17(ish?) year old petrol head, that after all those years I remember your name from a few throw away conversations whilst renting films and dvds from you!
@@usuallybrokencars what a bloody small world hey! Haha. Just watched some of your vids and enjoying the content - keep it up!! Far more entertaining than many of the far bigger channels!
i feel your pain i sold my gulf gti on marketplace and wow scammers had 1 person turn up view to buy Offred me less than half listed price gave me cash to count i laughed and said no they turned violent abusive and wouldn't leave nearly fight in carpark. well the car did sell but a dealer bought it the same night. i will never sell or buy a car with market place ever again .
That sucks mate, I got scammed on a audi s3 8l in nogaro blue for £100. Fake details and even sent me videos around the car and starting it. It happens but ill never send a deposit again… a genuine seller shouldn’t be bothered about a deposit
The guy sounds like a proper mug, I was trying to buy a car for the Mrs recently and I felt like everyone I spoke to on Facebook was trying to scam. It's a really terrible platform for buying cars.
Gutted for you mate. No need to feel embarrassed, these guys are true scum bags. Remember the only reason I didn't get scammed last year was down to you!

Such a shame this happened. All you can do is learn from it. Was looking forward to picking up the car with you as well.
It was going to be a fun road trip mate

Thanks mate, I'm gutted but I've heard this alot
The guy sounds like a proper mug,
I was trying to buy a car for the Mrs recently and I felt like everyone I spoke to on Facebook was trying to scam. It's a really terrible platform for buying cars.
I have had so many people say the same thing!
Speak to your bank, they can sometimes give you the money back then go after the account it went to
Bank managed to get a really small amount back, but are still going after the rest of it. So annoying.
Doesn't make it any better but it's happened to all of us.
Thanks man
Ah man, this sucks😭
Yeah, tell me about it!
Haven't yet got to the bit where you may already point this out but "Joined facebook 2024"(or the current year) is always a HUGE red flag..
yeah......
Gutted for you mate. No need to feel embarrassed, these guys are true scum bags. Remember the only reason I didn't get scammed last year was down to you!
Thank you mate, i appreciate that and the reminder does help.
What's poor is that Facebook wont do anything about it (I assume you reported it to them)
Nothing other than a report
Easily happen to anyone pal and I’m sure you’ll recover and karma as you say will get him! Chin up mate! 🫶🏻
Sod em mate.
