So, are we different species if we have different blood types? Seems to make sense, if we were all the same, from the same stock, our blood would all be the same as well wouldn't it?
Is this supposed to be a statement that I am asking a typical question? Or did you ask me a question that was subsequently erased? Perhaps it is a typical question.. But I know nothing about genetics. I think it would be amazing to learn we are all from elsewhere, our true history hidden for whatever reason. I like to think that indeed if this is the case, Perhaps our job here is to prove to others that you CAN indeed throw together a ton of different species, plant, animal, and people together, and they CAN make it work. And if the people on this planet are different in so much as species, well even better. We fight, but we are coming together as a whole for the most part.. And I think that's amazing.
I would like to know why only 8% of population has B+ blood and only 2% has b- blood. Why is B blood types so scarce? I would appreciate any information on B blood types.
Also to add to this video, people may ask how do we produce antibodies to another person's blood type having not been introduced to A, or B antigens before that point. Interesting enough, this occurs through cross reactivity where the body has made antibodies against another antigen (from a bacteria in the environment) and it just happens to react with the A or B antigens of other people's blood. Interesting. =D
My mom is type B and my dad is type O, but my older brother's blood type is AB. How did that happen? Actually I would be learning this later on because I took Medtech, but I'm intrigued now. T_T
My daughter is AB + and her mother is O+ and her mother attached her blood type I don't get how AB+ is superior, is it possible to explain this please, thank you
YES! if both of your parents carry the Rh+negative gene . Which they would inherit from their own parents. My mother is A+ and my father and twin brother are O+. While I am O-. My belief is that Rh factor is recessive only to protect it. Not for being weak. Nature didn't want to much of it getting out. Especially O- is the universal blood type. In my eye being more DIVINE.
o sangue é um bem precioso para todos seres vivos com o sistema vascular fechado ( combustível não inflamável para o bom funcionamento dos organismos)...
Been tried . . . but how do you guaranteed that all those little RBCs have been stripped of those surface sugars? If you miss a few . . . BIG issues will arise the next time you are transfused :(
That makes sense, Carl - it's because your partner's type is AO. So each of your babies got 2 recessive O - one from you and one from your partner. In the case of one parent being AB and the other being O, the baby only gets one recessive O, which is not enough to turn them into a O type - the dominant A or dominant B will always overpower the recessive O making the babies either type A or type B :)
My friend I have a question for you hopefully you can help me out. I am doing a study trying to figure out the blood type of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that Jesus blood of Jesus Christ was not contaminated meaning couldn't have anything of the woman. Now asking for your professional opinion which blood type will most qualified being Jesus Christ blood type? I know this is not a religious class but with your profession you can help me thank you so much.
i dont know my blood type but my daughter was born with A+. now her mother is O+ so my daughter got my blood type. so my question is would my blood type be A+ or AB+ if my daughter got her blood type from me??
No, the antigens are different from the anti-bodies. Antigens are the proteins that stick up from the surface of Red Blood Cells, anti-bodies float freely in plasma an attach to anything foreign. And no, as an O+ blood type you are not at greater risk for infection. There is no ideal blood type though. Each type has its pros and cons. Group A and B make people more resistant to cholera, while AB confers the most resistance. O offers virtually no immunity against cholera. B confers weaker protection against plague. This is probably why B is more common in North-East Europe, which was virtually unaffected by the Black Death during the Middle Ages. A-type carriers are the most likely to survive plague, but suffer from a higher rate of heart disease, because their blood is more likely to clot. They are also at increased risk of contracting smallpox and developing cancer of the esophagus, pancreas, and stomach. Type O, contrarily to A, is slightly protective against cardiovascular problems. It also boosts resistance against tuberculosis (TB), but increases the risk of venous thromboembolism and developing duodenal and peptic ulcers. It also attracts more mosquitoes (through which malaria is transmitted). A recent study revealed that people with type O blood are less likely to get pancreatic cancer, but also stomach, breast, ovarian and cervical cancer.
Please explain to me (someone) how if American Indians came to North America from Asia, how is it that Asian blood types are different from American Indian blood types?
There really is no difference in the ABO group of humans on the planet (For the most part) aside from their overall dominance in the population. That being said there are MANY more antigens that could be involved in antigenic typing of RBCs. Look up RBC phenotyping involving antigens such as Duffy, Lewis, Lutheran, ect.
Cheryl Marie your husband has a recessive gene for type O, so that means one of his parents or grandparents is type O. that makes it rare but possible for your children to have type O-
Yeah your genotype must be OO negative negative, but your husband's could be AA or AO and ++ or + negative. As your children have O negative blood your husband must have given them each an O and a -, therefore he must have an O and a negative, therefore he must be AO +negative, only that his phenotype is A+ because O and rh negative are resessive. The odds that that your child is O negative is therefore 1/4
Being RH positive means you have the D antigen on your red blood cell. The D antigens is part of the RH genenome. The D antigen is significant cause it is the one that will most likely cause a reaction when mixed. With others with the Rh+positive. Being positive means your ancestors are monkeys. Able to be link to the rheusus monkey.
ummm... i really liked your video! :-) yet, i have a question, if 'o' is always recessive, why is it written like AO or BO not Aa or Bb? thank you so much! I hope someone could explain it to me. :-)
+Patricia Monderin Aa and Bb would be talking about heterozygosity and would mean you have no "o" allele present. You could simply write type A with a recessive O as Ao and Bo for the opposite. The fact that the O is capital isn't important in this case when you know that it is always recessive, but for simplicity is SHOULD be written as a lowercase o which is where I think your confusion stems. Hope that helped :)
Because AO is the phenotype and this is a gene expression. it terms an A gene and an O gene. if you write out a punnett square then you would only have A, a, B, b as your gene options and would mean that there is no O gene to pass on. it simply isnt written like that.
As am I, Spiritually I am this, The Messiah will Pray to the Father for Us to Have the Spirit of God, for a Teacher, and Comforter forever, in the Bible book of john, chapter 14, verse 26... John, chapters 14, 15, and 16, are Spiritual Rebirth Chapters... Peace
sadly i got stupidly bored and didnt get why the negative and positive and most of it after,, and weirdly im getting headack from the sound of something related to that video,, your voice nothing personal ,, or maybe the video quality or the none stop trying to backspace on what i didnt get while playing minecraft,, hmm guess presentation is extremely important ,, nice background btw helped sticking around
Just starting my GCSE's and this is absolutely amazing for my revision at the moment! Thank you so much for this!
Good video. Taught me a lot about the different types of blood and how they are dominant and recessive.
Great video for learning more about sickle cell anemia, thank you.
The best possible explanation!! I was so confused at first. Thank you so much!!
The most informative 19 min video ever!! I learned so much. Thank you so much.
very clever explainer .... I understand it very well ...thank you very much
Helpfull for my quiz tomorrow at Cytogenetics. Thankyou. :)

Denise Dyer yeah you , typical question

Denise Dyer differences such as these don't reflect a difference in species. Is a lion and a tiger a type of cat?
Diziblonde YES
I would like to know why only 8% of population has B+ blood and only 2% has b- blood. Why is B blood types so scarce? I would appreciate any information on B blood types.
Same. I’m also B+ type and have always wondered this.
1:15 Very important for these antigens to know what belongs in your 'but' *clears throat* blood.
Got em 😭😂
Thanks for uploading, really interesting and easy to follow :)
Jazak Allah. Well explained
So so helpful thank you so much i have an exam in an hour and this is helpful!!!
my favorites are ab+ and o- who can guess why?

thanks.. anatomy test tomorrow
Pheno types. How antigens good or bad.
Good information......In short time.....thanku
Explaining is Good..understandable
This was a very informative interesting video!
My mom is type B and my dad is type O, but my older brother's blood type is AB. How did that happen? Actually I would be learning this later on because I took Medtech, but I'm intrigued now. T_T
Aiming for the moon and obtaining it isn't always possible, but when impossible, you are most likely to fall amongst the stars.
My daughter is AB + and her mother is O+ and her mother attached her blood type I don't get how AB+ is superior, is it possible to explain this please, thank you
Attractive presentation
nothing about bombay phonotype?
FINALLY!! I didn't know what the difference between b and d was!
He is amazing
Can an AB- and an O+ produce an O-?
No
YES! if both of your parents carry the Rh+negative gene . Which they would inherit from their own parents. My mother is A+ and my father and twin brother are O+. While I am O-. I might pass my final now
can someone change bloodtype during their lifespan?
o sangue é um bem precioso para todos seres vivos com o sistema vascular fechado ( combustível não inflamável para o bom funcionamento dos organismos)...
Can we remove the protein antigen on RBCs so that we can transfuse any blood group to any one !
No.
Been tried . . . but how do you guaranteed that all those little RBCs have been stripped of those surface sugars? If you miss a few . . . BIG issues will arise the next time you are transfused :(
Explain antigens.
Can AB and AB have an AB child or just A plus B?
yes they can .. as their filial will be AA AB AB BB .. a Case called incomplete dominance .. so half of their offspring is going to be AB
I put this on to go to sleep & it has the nerve to be interesting 😫
what about h deficiant blood
thank you!!! ready for my bio exam!
What if a person with blood type ab has a baby with a person with blood type O? What blood type will the baby have?
There's a 50 percent chance that your kid will be bloodtype A and and a 50 percent chance of it being a bloodtype 0
+Itachi Uzumaki Nope, the baby will be either type A or type B. No chance of a baby being type O in this case.
Katharina my partner A-RH I'm O+ she had anti d shots both children O+
That makes sense, Carl - it's because your partner's type is AO. So each of your babies got 2 recessive O - one from you and one from your partner. In the case of one parent being AB and the other being O, the baby only gets one recessive O, which is not enough to turn them into a O type - the dominant A or dominant B will always overpower the recessive O making the babies either type A or type B :)
What is the healthiest blood type.
The kind with more antigen on the bloodcell. More resistant to disases.
Andy Vasvari not necessarily
Do a antibody panel

Just to add to what Christwofour J. Peters said - your blood type could be A+ or AB+ but equally it could be A- or AB-
Wait do the antigens act as antibodies? If so then (as an O+) am I at more risk of infection from disease?
No, the antigens are different from the anti-bodies. Antigens are the proteins that stick up from the surface of Red Blood Cells, anti-bodies float freely in plasma an attach to anything foreign. And no, as an O+ blood type you are not at greater risk for infection. There is no ideal blood type though. Each type has its pros and cons.

That explains the mosquitos... Lol. Yeah I just started learning this stuff now so it makes a bit more sense.
We must form an alliance against the tyranny of the AB bloods... lol
I'd honestly rather be AB+ than O+ because if I'm stuck in a Zombie Apocalypse or some form of society collaspe I can get blood from anyone.
If you were bleeding out in a zombie apocalypse you'd already be dead
Only RH O Negative is universal blood.
I have o' negative
Simone Willowbrook Same with mines but I'm a *O+*
I am Rh O plus.
I'm o negative
i'm also o negative
My 5 year and I are cracking up!!!! @ 1:16
I cracked up too XD

Most American Indians are type O+.
As are American blood type distribution.
if both parents are o type and their child have A type?
Im enjoying this
Yes explain... I have Rh O negative blood and husband is A positive, yet both of our daughters have my blood type Rh O negative
Cheryl Marie your husband has a recessive gene for type O, so that means one of his parents or grandparents is type O. that makes it rare but possible for your children to have type O-

So what about type A RH positive
What that rh means ?
Marcio Pereira it means that you are hybrid
I am B positive bloodtype, very rare, only 1 in a group of 80 by mean.
Being RH positive means you have the D antigen on your red blood cell. The D antigens is part of the RH genenome. The D antigen is significant cause it is the one that will most likely cause a reaction when mixed. With others with the Rh+positive. Being positive means your ancestors are monkeys. Can a mom with A type blood and a dad with B type blood have a son with O type blood?
***** yes, if moms genotype is A0 and dads genotype is B0, the possibility is 25%
***** Yes 25%.
+Dre True Congratulations, chances are you're the dad :p
+Amber Ramsey So your mom and dad mated?:o
If one parent is A O and the other parent is O B, then you have a 25% chance of being O,
be positive
O - blood. I had to have the shots after first pregnancy and again after my second.
I'm "A" Positive.
I am AB neg.what dose that mean..
Parents who both has blodtype AB can have children with blodtype A, B and AB

Better be on the safe side, and find a mate of the same blood type.
Most people have O+ blood.
I mean a and b
iam b negative... am i a Rh negative too
Very good listening tooo :))
My dad is B+ and my mom is O- I don't know mine. Can u tell me.
