@@Emvee84 I always like to get 1 yard because you’ll have extra in case you make a mistake, it also allows you more options for character placement. And you can always make matching ears, wallet, scrunchies, etc. with the leftover fabric ☺️. At very minimum if you had a flat faced backpack (without a front pocket) you could get away with half a yard but in my opinion it’s not worth the hassle to save a few bucks on fabric. Better to have a bit more than less! 🤗❣️

@@JWeventing nice! 🤗❣️ for a flat faced bag you’d be able to get away with a half yard of fabric but if you want specific character placement get a full yard and then with the leftovers you can also make a wallet or scrunchie 😉 or there’s even Facebook groups to sell any leftovers you have so you can make some of your cost back 🤗
Corpse bride is one of my favorites! You should definitely try making a custom bag, you could even do a practice bag using a inexpensive bag from Walmart and cotton-spandex fabric from Joann’s to get the idea of it before moving onto a Loungefly bag ☺️❣️ and if you ever have any questions I’m always here to help 🤗

Oooo Yayy!! Customizing is great!! I have all the tools linked in most of my videos descriptions (even if the video isn’t about customizing) as well as at the bottom I link the fabric shops I like. kacustomfabrics.com is a great shop for fabrics many fabric shops will have retail fabric (ready to ship) and preorders (these take longer to order/arrive). They also have a facebook group that’s great to join in case you have any questions about ordering, scale, or prints (k&A custom fabrics & hardware). The owners of the shop are super nice. I always get cotton-Lycra as my fabric base because it has 4 way stretch which makes it easier to work with ☺️ Fabritac is the brand of glue I use, the dental pic that I use to tuck the fabric in I get from Amazon but Walmart and Walgreens sell similar pics. The odicoat that I use to prep the fabric so that it’s waterproof I get from Amazon but this step isn’t necessary to make a custom I just prefer it because it adds structure and protection to the fabric 🙂 if you gave anymore questions don’t hesitate to ask! I list everything in all my videos descriptions of the products I use and where I purchase them from 🤗❣️ Fabritac for the glue, Loungefly I always look for sales (which there’s a bunch always going on these days 👏🏼👏🏼) and I use OdiCoat to treat the fabric making it water proof (I have a video showing how I apply this also if you need the link let me know 🙂) I’m happy to help with anything so any questions you have definitely feel free to ask!
Also if you’re a bit nervous I always suggest picking up a super cheap bag from Goodwill or even Walmart, pick up cheap fabric from Joanns (there’s always 40% off coupons and get the cotton-spandex material) and those will be great to practice with to get the feel of the process ☺️
Hm, that’s a good question! I started customizing bags that I already had in my collection but no longer enjoyed so in my mind it was better than buying an additional bag just to customize it, but you are right Loungefly is pricey and they do seem to be rising in costs 😢
kacustomfabrics.com is fantastic for print services I use them often, just make sure you file is seamless so you don’t get a grid pattern (I hope that makes sense lol) but I like their quality of fabric and when you upload your file you can tell them the scale you’d like it printed (6x6, 9x9 or whatever size) I have a discount code with them but I want to note I don’t get any monetary kickback from sharing the code it’s just for others to save ☺️ it’s ERRYN5 . They have a Facebook group also so if you ever have any questions you can directly ask the shop owner it’s nice to be able to chat directly and the owners are super kind
They also make loungefly bags with clear windows/pockets, specifically made for decorating. I made a Hamilton bag. The only thing is, there’s no loungefly logo, but I added a Hamilton logo next to the pocket.
This is such a great video, tysm! Does the same info apply when cutting and gluing sequin fabric on a similar pocket? Just asking since the sequin backpack you did had a flat front. :)
Great question! If I did a sequins bag with a front pocket I would approach everything the same minus the pocket’s corners. Instead of taking the “gift wrapping fold” approach when it came to the corners I would cut the sequin fabric along the pockets corner seam, line up the fabric’s edges, and then glue , rather than just fold and glue. I hope that makes sense it’s hard to explain through typing lol. but basically I wouldn’t fold since sequins would build too much volume and probably be super tough to fold also. Let me know if this helps! Otherwise I can try and record quick what I’m trying to explain and send it over to you 🤗❣️

I’ve only redone Loungefly backpacks/drawstring bags/crossbody/and purses. But any brand should be customizable 🤗 and so glad to hear you love meet the robinsons! ❣️ do you plan on trying to customize a bag? ☺️
Cotton-Lycra or cotton-spandex work best (in my opinion) 🙂 because it has four way stretch so it’s very easy to work with . I’ve worked with 100% cotton because and it didn’t not go well, I still have to post that fail video lol

My apologies for missing your comment! 🙏🏻❣️ I’ve tried cotton before and it didn’t work well for me (I could have just had a bad quality cotton though) but even with treating the Cotton Lycra it still has a four-way stretch more so than 100% cotton. comparable to cotton Lycra are other options like cotton-spandex and also polyester-Lycra . I actually made a video I still have to publish where I try using cotton and failed 😅 but what happened was it would lay correctly with the wet glue and then develop bubbles as it dried it was the strangest thing! So since then I stay away from anything that’s not my preferred fabric base 😅❣️ i also like that cotton/Lycra doesn’t fray on its ends the way cotton itself does but if you wanted to try cotton I would say get a piece on sale and do a test on a project bag (like a cheap one found at a yard sale or similar) ☺️

Ah I made the labyrinth before I started filming for UA-cam 😭 I have more of that fabric though so I’m sure it’ll eventually be used again for a future video❣️ I use Fabritac as my glue it’s my favorite! Amazon sells it and so does michaels. I love getting it from michaels when they send out their 40-50% off a single item coupons ☺️

There’s a Facebook group where we customize Loungefly bags, some paint & some use fabric. But most people unfortunately will not share how they make the bags, when I got into it my friend Danielle advised me (I’m thankful she did!) And I decided I didn’t want to keep this a secret so that’s actually what inspired me to make this video and all my others. It was during one of their online sales I think that last for 2-3 days and I happened to catch it! I forget if it went back on sale for Black Friday but I purchased it before then, around Halloween 🎃 time
1 yard of fabric is what you see me using for this video, it’s more than enough to complete a mini backpack with room for error. And then eventually when you get used to making them 1/2 yard will suffice (but most shops sell them by the yard). Hope that helps! 🤗

Yeah perhaps try a different roll 🤔 I know I’ve been through a couple of rolls both name brand and store brand I believe but I never had it rolling up , I even used masking tape because I tried to save money but I don’t recommend masking tape that was annoying to pull off (it’ll be in a future video) lol. They do sell wider painters tape that may help you so you can cover more surface area of both the fabric and wax paper

I always keep an eye out for sales, usually Boxlunch during the Boxlunch money redemption period where you can get the bags 1/2 off. Every once in awhile Disney online, or the smaller retailers will run sales but it’s random. Let me check whose having a sale currently one second 🤗

How did you learn how to do this
There’s a Facebook group where we customize Loungefly bags, some paint & some use fabric. But most people unfortunately will not share how they make the bags, when I got into it my friend Danielle advised me (I’m thankful she did!) And I decided I didn’t want to keep this a secret so that’s actually what inspired me to make this video and all my others. Custom bags can sell for around $200, I wanted people to learn how to make their own customs to save money and really put their whole heart into making their own dream bag 🤗

I source it from several fabric retailers but often I create the designs myself so this Meet the Robinsons one I actually created and used a "print your own design" option from itgscustomfabric.com I wish I could print it myself oh man I would have TONS of fabric then lol

It was during one of their online sales I think that last for 2-3 days and I happened to catch it! I forget if it went back on sale for Black Friday but I purchased it before then, around Halloween 🎃 time

1 yard of fabric is what you see me using for this video, it’s more than enough to complete a mini backpack with room for error. And then eventually when you get used to making them 1/2 yard will suffice (but most shops sell them by the yard). Hope that helps! 🤗

Right now I’m try to make another but I’m really struggling with the blue painters tape it’s not really sticking it is coming undone and rolling up I wonder if it’s just old maybe.
@@brittanyjean8126 if you happen to find my videos post def show me a pic I’d love to see it! And I’ve never had my painters tape roll up before😱 , is it coming off the fabric or the wax paper? You can try to extend the tape so it also touches the table maybe that would make it more secure? 🤔 hmm

Yeah perhaps try a different roll 🤔 I know I’ve been through a couple of rolls both name brand and store brand I believe but I never had it rolling up , I even used masking tape because I tried to save money but I don’t recommend masking tape that was annoying to pull off (it’ll be in a future video) lol. They do sell wider painters tape that may help you so you can cover more surface area of both the fabric and wax paper
