So far so good. Will be interesting to see if the water quality stays the same or improves with the addition of the new filter. Hopefully improves meaning less frequent water changes saving both water and money.
In all of my 50+ years of keeping koi I have never overwintered outdoors. Koi are happy and so am I and as you noted I can watch them all year even during the winter months.
Koi are looking awesome... I did expect a little more debris coming out... But because your tanks stay in maculate I only wish my water was this clean Koi are awesome buddy . They are so graceful.
I'll be doing another cleaning in two weeks, unless there is a problem before then necessitating one sooner, to see if the extra week makes a difference. Will have to wait and see.
I thought it worth the time to try the filter modification and so far so good. Hasn't been running long enough though to see if it will make a positive difference to the water quality. Hopefully should know in a month or so.
Running costs for the pool would have been approximately 4 times as much as the submersible pump I already use, not to mention I don't have much room in the basement with the pond, filters, quarantine tank, etc. It seems to be working well and doesn't add to the electricity cost each month by only using the one submersible pump.
Glad everything working ok Ken 👍

Koi are looking good Ken, thanks for the mention. We appreciate it 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Not a problem. I think my koi look really good, yours on the other hand look great and your pond is always so relaxing to watch.
Everything looks fantastic. Would love to just sit and watch my koi at this time of year.

Nice to see the filter is working well Ken, the Koi are really looking great, best wishes, Tony😀
Thanks Tony. Filter seems to be doing the job and I believe it will help to keep the water pristine for the koi.

Healthy happy koi equals happy owner.😁
Nice one Ken great job on the filter and the koi are looking cracking 👍
Thanks Andy. Hopefully it will improve the water quality to the point that I don't have to do water changes as frequently as I do now.
Koi looking great! And your modified filter is working too. Have thought of modifying a pool filter myself, many times. 👍

Why did you decide to use the pump you have instead of a pool pump, sir?
