Chainsaw with vegetable oil in it instead of bar oil......makes cutting spearing holes much easier.
I use radiant, sunflower htrs all the time. They tend to burn off most of the Co and have auto shutdowns

Great shows! Just some tips: I know u need light for filming, but any light coming in will allow the fish to see any movement and spook. The darker clothing u wear the better. Ditch the light colored hats, that’s killing you. Also, u can lower the spear way lower and really improve your success. Get it a foot above the fish before u let go. Just some tips, hope that helps. They call them dark houses for a reason, that will make all the difference, darker it is the better, u can get away with so much more.
Yep that last guy was right you need the window covers shut for spearing 💯%. Sunlight and movement are going to spook the fish and many won't even come in far enough for you to see them. 👌🏼

Great job on the slimers. First off if you drill a hole at each corner and when you get the big block. You push down on the block and push it below the ice . No need to pick the ice out of hole. Take a couple of buckets of water and flood the snow out from the shanty. that will make a sky light to light up under the hole. At night set a lantern on the ice and this will bring in the bait and you can fish all night long for the Specks.
I'd say you're right about half the guys push the ice under but many have ice tongs and pull the ice out. I always pull the block out myself. I think it would look odd down there to the bigger more wise pike. They're smart enough already.

Camera incident gave me a thought...spear cam!
When spearing fish, it's like you touch the water with the spear, than push it down, not spear it. Not a throw, more of a push, is what I remember having to do, also we had our spear hanging above the hole, so then you just unhook it & lower it down & push it, I promise you'll get more fish. Moving it to the hole in clear water, you will spook them.

You don't realize how big a 39" pike is until you see an average catch next to it. Scotty's camera bust was 25"...just a guess. Regardless, so much fun.

BJ love the videos but to help you out in spearing.. for better light use your shovel to clean as much ice around your tent..i always try to keep at least 20 feet around my tent clear.... why? it allows more sunlight through the ice so you can see your quarry. People laughed at me but when they saw i was getting and they weren't you should have seen them shoveling the snow away. Actually they came over to my ice shack and said what the hell are you using? so i invited them in and we sat and watched Holy crap they said this is awesome. sun was shining though ice like a neon light. then. and keep the inside as dark as you can so they,.. meaning the fish can't see movement from above. there % improved with just a little snow shoveling and keeping it darker.. toward nightfall we limited out on walleye during the day we had out limit of Northerns and Perch even some nice Crappie... and this was on Lake Oahe. only a few miles down stream from where you and Sash were fishing this past year. Good you had pads so there was no squeak or noise walking on ice. oh and as for your decoy use extra tough line and make sure you a fix it to top of tent good. As i saw that one pike grab it.. wait until a 46 incher hits it doing Mach 7. light line and barely tide on and you will lose it. I use nothing less then 50lb spider wire and i also set the drag just in case. good luck have a great time it is what life is about!!. thanks for sharing.

For the ice anglers, would putting down a rubber flooring have a negative effect? I mean if your going to spend hours and possibly a couple days, wouldnt a little form rubber floor add some insulation to the floor. From Southern California so I dont know ice fishing.

What kind of compound bows do you use for fishing? Are they full blown hunting bows or little lighter?
I love these videos but that big hole for me is scary , im afraid i would make a bad step and be in the water, or get up to go to the bathroom and fall in!

I was always under the assumption that no bigger then 10 inches so someone couldn’t step thru very easy
You keep spooking fish because of the open window behind you. You need to close all the windows and vents
