14:09 -- Zeke always calls Grisha "that father", in Japanese "ano chichi-oya", where "chichi-oya" is a very _emotionally distant_ way of saying "father". On the other hand, at the scene of inheriting the Beast Titan, he called Xsaver "o-tou-san", which is the normal way of addressing one's own father.

Yea, it's one of my favorite episodes. It's like the backstory of a backstory (cause we seen a tiny bit of it from Grisha's pov) and it's just such a twist, it hits hard and makes a lot of sense. One of the final big puzzle pieces in the story. And yea, in all honesty I'm kind of team Zeke. I accept that his plan and outlook CAN be argued against for sure, but then again, season 4 is about this very complex and difficult situation, and it's not like anyone else has a perfect plan.
Imo people tend to overlook that despite all the allegories for real life racism, this is a fantasy story and the Eldians ARE the titan-people. Honestly, a desire to simply get rid of this whole phenomenon is quite understandable, and he still wants to achieve it in a somewhat human way - making them infertile as opposed to straight up murdering them, and he still accounts for protecting the last generation growing old too. /rant

because Zeke has a vision. He do not want the future eldians to suffer and be used as war weapons. This episode sealed Zeke for me as a martyr. It's like if I knew someday that my children would be sold off to some people to become a tool, I would rather kill them by my own hands than knowing that in the near future, people will use them for their benefit.

2:42 -- Regarding the Tragedy of Lago: it was shown in the ending sequence of Season 2, together with the scenes of people fleeing from the city and the hiden titans suddenly emerging from the ground after the sunrise.
This is interesting because Season 2 was released long time _before_ the releasing of the manga chapter adapted in this episode, and many manga readers who were watching Season 2 _(including me)_ erroneously thought that the scene in the ending sequence which was showing the people fleeing was about the exodus of Eldians after the Great Titan War, while it was actually about the people of Lago.

This episode summed up - How much Zeke trauma do you guys want? YES!
2:30 Zeke's grandfather taught him on thing, while his father taught him a completely different thing. All while he had to pretend and play the perfect soldier for the marleyans who were training him.
4:30 THE turning point for Zeke. Until he met Tom Ksaver, the previous Beast Titan, things were looking incredibly bleak for him. Even after, all the pressure he was under lead to Zeke confessing to Tom and the suggestion to turn in his parents, all so his grandparents could be spared.
6:25 we see a much darker side of Grisha here, how little confidence he had in Zeke.
7:38 what a powerful statement, coming from such a kind hearted person.
10:50 this is when the idea started forming in Zeke's head - how to solve the titan problem.
11:40 and with that one statement, Magy you unraveled the whole plot of AoT. Well done, I'm proud of you!
14:10 you can see just how much Zeke ended up despising his father and how highly he thought of Tom Ksaver.
16:54 nobody expected Zeke to do this, Levi included.
    20:12 excellent observation, Magy.
Thank you for the beautiful commentary and reaction ❤

Levi was made into a total idiot in this episode. Your plan is to strip a bomb to immortal guy, sit RIGHT NEXT TO IT and keep torturing him so he would want to end this suffering? You entrusted your life in his hands, not the other way around!

He's blinded by his hatred. He thought Zeke is just a one dimensional bad guy who loves to see people suffering and would place his own survival on top of all, thus underestimate how much resolve Zeke has. Kind of like how most audiences thought in the beginning.

Can we not criticize Grisha WHOSE SISTER WAS EATEN BY DOGS you do not grow from that trauma y’all something like that happens to you, you’re damn near permanently jumped-start from children mentality to dark/gloom adult.
Dude lost his sister and its high key his fault. It makes sense for him to have anti-marley hatred and everything he does from then on out is for that purpose.
Also ladies, eren was referencing the scene where he was crying to historia telling her to eat him and how he shouldn’t have been born.
    You remember?

Yes you can. I understand to understand Grishas attitude towards the situation but saying that Grishas actions were justified after Zeke asked him whether or not he cares about him dying or not he does not respond with being caring but skipping the question and arguing that he did nothing wrong "sending his sister to death". It is a cruel world man.

I admit I'm a little confused about you saying you can understand Zeke, Magy. Because HE was the one who turned his own parents IN to the Marleyan's and because of it his mother was turned into a titan and his father was spared by the owl and given the attack titan powers.
So I was just wondering what it was that you understood. "How Zeke is" Could you please clarify?? Because he doesn't actually hate Marleyan's. Like at all. He's not close to anywhere near as extreme as Gabi is in her hatred of Eldian's, but he doesn't like them any less or more than Marleyan's. Everything he's doing is based in logical data, not emotional attachment.

@@vicc6790 "Writing novels."?? Bruh, the comment was said at a very strange part. It wasn't a generalized comment about understanding Zeke "in general" as you seem to think. They said this in response to the hatred that both sides are perpetuating. It wasn't just a simple comment. It was said for a specific reason and considering what I said, it doesn't add up. They think Zeke hates Eldians. That's why they said they understood him. Because like Gabi, he was raised with the same hatred as her. So I clarified that he didn't betray Marley because he hates them.
