    Thank you so very much. When I shopped for a home 9 years ago, I wanted pine trees to be on the property. This house came to me and it is nestled in White cedar trees at the front and at all corners. I love these cedars! I also practice herbalism, but had no idea of the honor and gifts of my trees. I feel very blessed and led to you today. Thank you again!

    I love this! Ive used cedar extract for my kids and cedar smudge for my home. This tea will be a new addition for our health and happiness. I discovered a baby cedar tree about 70 feet out in my yard among some baby pines i was cutting down for a garden fence. Honestly did not know it was a cedar but knew it was beautiful and magical and i left it. Now il go out and maybe put some rocks or something around it so it doesnt get messed with in the future. Thanks for this video!

      If you dry it and grind the cedar leaves into a powder you can put it in a bag under your pillow at night for aroma therapy. You can also burn it as a smudge which is also very therapeutic for your anxiety. Just smelling it is very pleasant.

    • @outdoorlifewithdougb
      @outdoorlifewithdougb  3 місяці тому

      I am not sure on the variety of cedars in your area but I would trust they be of same medicinal benefits as up here in the north. Be mindful if there is alot of spraying in the area for pesticides. Etc. Sometimes in our area there are signs posted for aerial spraying and warnings. This is coming from our Forestry industry.

    I'm very excited to learn about Cedar Medicine - so simple - so natural! Would it be the wrong way to have a Cedar Tree in a pot on my balcony? I face a park-like setting. Or should I stay with going to the woods? Also, today I watched a video about the Cedar Bath for the new baby - this was absolutely beautiful and very Sacred. I am in Ontario too - Miigwetch!

    • @outdoorlifewithdougb
      @outdoorlifewithdougb  2 роки тому +6

      Miigwech for your comments. Especially with the cedar bath. It would be nice to have a cedar tree in a pot on your balcony for sure but I would reccomend going into the bush instead. First, there's actually a lot of healing happening when we go into the bush. We get some fresh air, hear gentle sounds of nature and change our environment. Secondly, the cedar tree we get its branches from is directly connected to Mother earth.

    I have 15-17 cedars in my backyard running the length of a 6 foot wooden fence. They were growing over into the neighbour's yard. The neighbour went the length of the cedars sawing 4-5 limbs off of each tree. Will this damage the trees? This happened last August. I noticed this Fall the trees did not produce any cones. What an affront to these magnificent trees!! Is there anything I can do to make amends to them? Thank you.

    • @outdoorlifewithdougb
      @outdoorlifewithdougb  Рік тому +1

      That is sad to hear of your neighbor cutting the cedar limbs. I am not sure the amount of harm that will come to them but I am hopeful they will bounce back. Aki kwe (mother earth) has a way of healing herself if we give her space and time so I am hopeful the cedar tree will too.

    Thank you for sharing this teaching, Doug....I'm on Day 2 of boiling my tea, & it's become very dark, like coffee, & there's a bit of oil on the surface. Is it still safe to drink (this dark), or should I just make a new batch?

    • @outdoorlifewithdougb
      @outdoorlifewithdougb  2 роки тому +1

      I would make a new batch. The color of your tea should be dark greenish brown. Also, once cooled you can bottle and refrigerate it. I would do this within 12 hrs of making your tea so it can remain fresh. I usually strain it while pouring into my containers.

    Does it matter if it is white or red cedar? I have lots of red cedar all around me. Not much white cedar where I live unless it’s planted in someone’s yard or business landscape.

    • @outdoorlifewithdougb
      @outdoorlifewithdougb  Рік тому +2

      I believe the eastern white cedar is predominant in our area (all of Ontario). I don't think it matters, although one might be stronger than the other. I would still use the red cedar if it's common in your area and off the road. Best of luck.

    Hello! I am wondering what is the best way to clean the cedar before adding to the water? I want to be traditional and am worried about doing it wrong. I have gathered the cedar in the traditional way but when searching for if it should be cleaned first I can't find anything. I've googled and most traditional instructions seem to not include this step, so I wasn't sure if I even should?
    Thank you so much for any guidance you can provide.

      Usually when I go to pick cedar I go off the beaten path a bit. If you have access to lakes in the area that is a good place to pick on the shoreline. Otherwise a quick rinse should be enough. Stay away from picking along side of the road unless its at least 50yds into the bush. Offer your tobacco as well.

    • @TheTanna727
      @TheTanna727 2 роки тому +2

      Definitely rinse at the very least. I know my cedar tends to have spiders, webs, and eggs. Ive seen eggs of flies too. So at least rinse a bit.
