You gotta really say I'm enjoying these redesigns. To be honest I haven't really had a problem with the official the official redesigns will accept for angel does cause I do not like those white gloves,, But watching you describe your problems with the designs yeah I can see why most people wouldn't like them anywho great job in I'm in I'm still looking for 2 hazben hotel
One of my most significant issues with the Hazbin Hotel designs is how so many of Vivziepop’s characters don’t look like they’re from their time. It’s hard to pinpoint when some of her characters died because they either barely or don’t dress like from their time. It’s disappointing since she could’ve done a lot with time-accurate designs.
@@LovesArt23 Considering how many artists I’ve seen redesign her characters to be more time-accurate, I definitely believe Vivziepop could’ve done the same. There are plenty of images on the internet that can be used as references to make the outfits more accurate. If other people can do research to make the outfits more accurate so can Vivziepop.
Yeah, while I do agree that it kinda sucks that the hazbin hotel characters don’t look like they’re from their time. I’m hoping that there might be a story reason for this, like that they first arrived in time period accurate clothes but some demons can choose to change their outfits if they want. Like I saw one animatic with vox and there was a flashback scene where vox’s head resembled an actual 50s tv. So I think maybe that’s what Viv is going for, and perhaps all the rings have a “color motif’ like the von eldritch family have lots of green and teal in their design, the lust ring has a bunch of pinks and purples, the wrath ring is very orange, and the pride ring has red. While I do see where people are coming from (and do agree with some of the criticisms) I try to keep in open mind because there could be a story reason, like RWBY ice queendom’s designs for the characters in the dream world were first revealed there were some complaints but once the anime aired the designs made more sense. I do agree with your points about design and story.
It's funny how you are more able to make a design based on the aesthetic and time it was supposed to be and Viv looks like she doesn't even care!I am very glad to see you actually take time for the designs! They are great!!

As a character designer myself it's just sad.When making a character with specific details you need to do at least some research to let your audience know what's their type. It's literally what character design is all about! Viv has disappointed me with her final designs when the Alastor redesign dropped. I'm very glad though you get what a character should really be! Viv should take some lessons from fans!
I think this re redesign shows that you can use the elements from the original designs to make good new ones but Viv either doesn't know how or doesn't want to and I don't know which I prefer. I like that you still mostly used reds but you also added pops of yellow and green, drawing attention to certain parts of Cherri and making her stand out
It’s really easy to “loose” the original Cherry among all the other “red/light yellow/white” characters and it’s a shame because Cherry has an actual reason to include all those colors (like… it’s in her name, she’s supposed to resemble fire and explosions). Your design is really fun tho, gives me Arcane Jinx’s vibe❤️ PS. I really think that most of Viv’s designs have the same problem: they were done before the story and aesthetic for them was created. Basically, you get the feeling that they were done backwards - I myself can see that problem with my old OC designs that have come through a lot of reincarnations without a clear direction behind them
It is true that Cherri Bomb has a punk rock vibe going on. So that the fact you gave her a re-redesign of her that matches the period that cherri bomb is from.
You have some of my favorite ever redesigns I can't even put it into words- it just really feels like you care about and pay attention to what the characters are supposed to be rather than whatever you want them to be if that makes sense? Also, small, but I love how her ponytail thing without the gradients looks more like an explosion- really fitting of the character

thank you for saying such bold and risky stuff about viv! i am so tired of people saying the designs still looks so good, like?? guys?? have you seen her old character designs?? they were so much colofurl, meaningful, espectacular! these "redesigns" are the pilot designs made more complex, or some more simple but keeping the same or some dont even look different! what the heck viv? seriously, the redesigns you are making are absolutely gorgeous and always bring to life the inspiration viv says she uses for the characters and dont let me start to talk about the colors cause OH BOY THESE ARE MAGNIFICENT! you actually are able to make the whole cast of characters seem to belong to the same universe without having to tie all of them with only one color pallette seriously these re re designs are looking so good! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
As someone who has been around awhile and remembers Viv's webcomics... People have always said Viv's strong point is her style. She has a colourful and interesting art style especially with the sharp and bouncy angles. But she's always had weird/bad character design choices. Sometimes it works and you get a character who is fun to look at. Other times it's just messy and chaotic to the point of being nonsensical. It makes sense in the long run if you look at her old work and realize she's not a good writer. She can't finish character arcs or focus on plot points before quickly moving onto the next thing just because she finds it more interesting. She's less of a story writer and more of a doodle machine. She can draw a bunch of characters all day long in vignettes, but the actual story is less of an actual story and more of just a bunch of headcanons rattling around.
it feels like sometimes Viv is trying to do a "everyone uses the same/similar color pallet" thing that suff like YTTD did, but she fundamentally misunderstands how those color pallets operate and as results makes a mess. the only issue with this way of looking at it, is there are a few characters who completely ignore this pattern (Vox specifically) and as results those few who do have different colors look wildly out of place. i don't think the colors is an issue with her art because it's clear via Helluva Boss that she's capable of using other colors- she's doing this on purpose for some fucking reason??? and i think it's because she wants to use that everyone shares colors thing. she just has no clue how to execute that
As an Australian I'm a little nervous about Cherry being Aussie. I don't want her speech and slang to be cheesy and groan inducing. But I would've loved to see Vivi give her a perm or a mullet, haha. And I love your re-design so much
I'll be completely honest and say that I love this design! You totally capture the "punk" vibe with it, liek it really says a lot about her character, and the colors really match too! I hope to see more of your redesigns on the future (:
i think the redesign looks cool!, i love it a lot especially since cherri is my favorite character. i expected there to be a little bit of pink in the redesign you made but i ain't complaining, i adore the punk 1980's aesthetic and it's makin me inspired to draw something similar to that i also wish there was more colors in hazbin hotel, especially since there's just so many awesome background characters in helluva boss that proves vivzie is capable of designs without that specific shade or red and other colors in general,,
The big thing that bothers me about the canon designs are the excessive details (and the colours, but you already said it all perfectly) All the stripes, bows, rips etc are just not animation friendly. In 3D and flash sure, but for hand drawn 2D it's a nightmare! The characters don't NEED all those details to communicate what they're about to the audience

Hi! This was a great breakdown on what's lacking in the designs of Vivziepop. I think for your re-redesign there's some things I'd like to say. I absolutely love the jacket idea! It works really well punkrock wise! I do think there's one big problem here: Way too many details. This is an animation show and everything should be efficient to animate, this design is completely packed with details and patterns to keep track of. Your point on hazbin hotel's use of "red" is completely valid and a more reddish color should be added. However, colors should still fit within the colorscheme. The red you used here doesn't fit that well because it's very saturated. Besides that, it's also good to use limited color. I think the yellow and green are a bit too much, using just yellow with a range of reds would probably work better. The hair in the original design is very simplified and thus easy to animate, and although yours looks great as an illustration, it would be a lot more difficult to keep track of. I really like the gradient in it tho! Very punkrocky!! There's loads of elements that you came up with that work really well and the team should definitely considering!
Honestly, I also feel very disappointed with the designs, like they have such a good concept and they are not taking advantage of it. I tu sed to look up to Viv too, she is what got me into design and I really thank her for that. But man you did a great job, the colors are great and the idea of the back of the jacket it’s so creative. I hope you have a nice trip by the way

I Think your re-design is so great!! I love the more punk stile you´ve given her it looks so good :D the only thing that is kinda throwing me off a little bit is the yellow accents they look a little random and it might have been better If they where green. But other than that i Think it looks amazing!

I think viv has what I also have when coming up with an idea for a franchise or something. She has good ideas but either doesn’t want to waste so much time figuring it out OR! She doesn’t realize that maybe she should learn more about how to write and/or design character’s to show to an audience on television or any media. No hate towards her, but I feel like I also have moments like that

Omg you're a godsend at this Also, i'm not super familiar with the kerchief code but wikipedia is telling me that, based on the bandana in her pocket, Cherri is now either into scat, fisting, or trolling lol. Not a criticism, love the bandana and the whole design!!
This design kinda has me on the eh side, I mean yellow I just don't like it, I think it pops out a lot, and the hint of green is also a strange choice. Though she looks like a daredevil so that's pretty cool! Also for HH, I think these characters will be changing outfits from time to time, so maybe we will see hints of their time era in their different outfits. Also, I can't find myself being mad with the current designs for HH, I mean not everything is going to be accurate in Viv’s designs. I figured this out after seeing Asmodeus and Paimon, she is taking a lot of artistic liberty and I can't be mad at it. She is doing her and sometimes she lets her team design the characters or take a crack at it. They might not always hit for everyone but I’m just glad we are seeing hints of their designs, or just anything at all.
the Asmodeus and paimon I can see as its just viv taking already exciting info thats not hers and making her own interpretation of the biblical figures but when it comes to her own characters the ones she created not looking what she said they where supposed to look like or what there based around and not look any where close to it is kinda disappointing obviously she and her team don't have to completely start over just add a few hints so the audience can figure it out I can't even tell you how many ppl had no idea Vaggie was based around a moth or that Charlie was based on a doll and not a clown or that Alastor is based on a deer its the artist job to make sure the audience sees what we see but thats just me and my work mentality

Now THIS is a great redesign! She looks punk. Also the Aussie thing makes me so fucking mad. Yes maybe she lost her accent over time bUT THATS FUCKIN’ BORING. My family is majority Kiwi and Aussie. Their humour and accent is my favourite thing (that and I love them of course) I’m not gonna comment on Vivz because people are extremely protective and I get it. I just really like your redesigns. You’re so talented.
Ngl, i think her promo art was more of a finalized design than a redesign, besides im glad they didn't really change much outside of her face shape. That being said, I FRIKKIN LOVE THIS REDESIGNNNNNNNNNN
@@LovesArt23 It's kinda like Miraculous where the writing of a character (or in this case design) is better than the others (and not necessarily good) because they didn't fuckin touch it, meaning they didn't have the chance to mess it up.

I LOVE this design, not only because I want to get into punk, but also because it gave me an amazing idea. What if Charlie and the hotel employees had blue uniforms? The angels in Helluva Boss had A LOT of blue in their designs, so it would make sense that Charlie would pull from that. The inside of the hotel itself could also be blue/white/gold and look super pretty. On top of that, what if the morally corrupt characters kept their red color palettes? So Alastor would be completely black/red, but Angel would stay light pink since he shows hints of wanting to change. It would provide a lot of visual storytelling, especially if characters changed colors gradually throughout the series. Just an idea though!
What if instead of using the blue,gold, and white color scheme for the uniforms, they could make uniforms based off they’re kind of demon, with those colors as hints? For example, because angel dust is a spider demon, he would have a uniform that would have some sort of connection with spiders, and then tint it with blue gold and white, maybe even other pastels!
As always, killing it with the outfits! I love how you can actually tell what time period your redesigns are from while still conveying so much personality. I think Cherri's hair gradient thing is strange because the main part goes from pink to yellow but the ponytail goes from yellow to pink (if she puts her hair down the colourists just have to guess I'm assuming). Love that you made her blonde roots look like an explosion and kept her bomb fuse hair (and making the fuse part actually look like fire!)

Yeah I never understood that part! Whenever I drew her, I just did pink to yellow for both parts. I kind of get why I guess, cause the huge glob of pink doesn't look the greatest but at least you know how the hair actually works.
Everytime I watch a video of yours you almost always say "I'm sorry this took so long". It's been a week! Give yourself some leeway! You are doing incredible pumping out content so fast for us. I'm glad it got addressed that Cherri's other shoe was in fact a shoe but just a flat verses a boot. It was such a common mistake/assumption so the fact its mentioned is good. But yeah, it means they literally changed nothing. X"D
As someone that loves character design I was soo satisfied with this redesign you made of her, the whole red punk palette you made of cherrie bomb really justified her name, instead of being another "pink/white/yellow" demon in the series. Love it!! :]
Your designs are so rad. I think it’s really cool how you research the time periods and fashion, and you’re really good at outfit design imo. Your color choices are really fun and stand out a lot more than the hazbin red lol. Hope you have a good time on your vacation!

This redesign is incredible, faithful to the original but improving all its faults. Fun fact: Viv is apparently also planning for Cherri to be Australian in the series as well.
"The story is what's important not the designs!" The designs can help push the story! They can give us a glimpse into their personality, their lifestyle, interests! Sometimes a design can subvert the viewer (and in world characters') expectations for someone! A change in design can help reflect a change in the character!
Viv's designs look like they were drawn by a middle schooler... and she's had these characters since she was in middle school, you think they'd be better now that shes an adult with 2 successful series. Not only are the designs bad, but if we're relying on the writing, that's also bad from what we've seen of HB. I'm lowkey worried the humor will be similar to Villainous, which don't get me wrong I LOVED that show when I was a kid. But thats a kid's show, and the episodes are very short, so a whole 30 minutes of silly dick jokes would be absolute torture. Rewatching the Pilot, the jokes weren't that funny, and it was VERY fast paced. I enjoyed it when it came out, but I was literally 14. My humor has changed since then, and honestly with each passing year my hopes for this show lower. I'm really hoping the TV show that picked up on this project does more justice. (ALSO I feel I should mention that I have no hate for the artists who work on HH and HB. They are all SUPER talented and I could never animate something so smoothly.)
I so hope that the characters get outfit changes at least a few times (or even new outfits for S2 assuming we get one) because even though I don't mind some of them, I think them interacting with each other and the backgrounds is going to get confusing and worst case scenario, annoying. It's too late to change any of the designs I imagine but hopefully Viv can make better designs for things in the future. Also you were so right about that one shade of red and it actually annoys me. I remember drawing Husk once as well as Charlie in the past and them having similar but still pretty different shades of red. Like put next to each other it was clear that Charlie's red was more pink and Husk's red was more pure red. Like, Viv knows she's not confined to a certain number of colors right (I mean I sure hope she isn't)?

OMG CHERRI LOOKS GORGEOUS :0 I wasn't too "wowwed" by her official design(even if it still looks ok) but HOLY SHIT your redesign looks amazing!(but maybe that's jsut my love for punk fashion taking over lol) On the topic of the new cannon designs for the cast... I'm not too impressed either. I love the color red, but in Hazbin Hotel... it's just too much. I honestly wouldn't want to buy merch of the characters in their current designs, and with their current track record... I'm not going to get my hopes up if they change outfits during the show.(No hate to Viv and her crew, obviously. I know that they've been hard at work but that doesn't stop me from being disappointed.)
i don't hate this redesign but would've loved to see the colors being played with a little more. i understand her name is "cherry bomb" and that her signature colors are BRIGHT or red but why not offset it with some browns instead of the pale skintone? That was literally my only complaint, the tones you used for the clothes looked great and i loved the ankle boot
I personally don’t enjoy this version as much. It’s a bit too bright. But that’s probably because I get headaches from certain bright colors. I think the concept is awesome. Vivzipop really needs to actually use the inspiration she takes. Like she draws inspiration from a certain thing BUT DOESNT USE IT. I think Vivzipops designs are pleasing to look at but aren’t that great when it comes to overall worldbuilding and character design. Mosts have great silhouettes but their color palettes just blend into each other. If the background and the characters didn’t have different lineart, they would blend into each other as well.
I also used to look up to Viv and used to be in love with her designs and animation but now i lost all my respect to her, and after a few re-watching I've noticed alot of problems with her writing and after learning about hh character information and what time period they are supposed to be from it and seeing how they look nothing like it ( i am a bit of a fashion history nerd myself) and how she doesn't seem to research the asstetic she's supposed to be refrising and how she keeps using the same colours and just like you i kept getting dispointed after every "redesign" and don't understand how can people still praise this mess , that's the biggest issue with Viv and her fan's her fan's are tooo protective of her and come after and attack anyone who dares try to give Viv a tiny bit of criticism and seem to have this werid parasocial realationship with her and seem to think that she is that perfect angle who can't hurt a fly it's probably why she would never improve as an artist or a writer bec she knows people would just eat it up for her, honestly the thing i somewhat like about HH is that the settings allow me to go absolutely wild with my oc's design but THAT'S IT , i no longer care about the characters and I don't trust Viv to be a good writer and is having my doubts about her as a person( 'cough' the eren situation 'cough' ) , same with HB but that's a whole other can of worms Anyway amazing design as always i really love how you made chiires hair it looks so much better and i love the different boots as the one Heald boot and the flat shoe look were so uncomfortable for me to look at and really made the design so annoying, and i love that you gave her a TRUE punk look 👍 your one of my favourite UA-cam artists 💝, have fun in your viction
I'm partial to Cherri just because she's a fun character, but WOW does you're redesign have personality. It's more stylized (independently of the rest of the world), better color ratios- everything. If I were to change anything, maybe the skin tone? I almost prefer the color you have on her hands/chest/leg. Personally, I think that softer skin-tone grey would make the other colors pop even more and make her less human. But das me. Awesome job regardless :D
Yeah I wanted to use the skin tone I used in my old deisgn but alot of ppl where 50/50 on it and I didnt need the race comments I got enough stuff going on I don't need ppl arguing

4:22 Wow! That really IS a big RED flag!!! Eh? Eh? ;D eh... Really love this design, I love it's loudness. Viv's character designs tend to be loud, but not in a good way. Not only is it done well here, but as the character's name is literally Cherri Bomb she should look loud (compared to everyone else at least)
Cherri is a character that I’m very confused by her design. First why are you pink? I know characters don’t have to have a color that works with the name (Cherri, Cherry red you know) but out of everyone to throw a lot of red on I’d think this would be a good character to do red. And she doesn’t look her time period in fact she looks more like the 2000’s neon pop-punk that was popular for a short time at least where I’m from. I love that you gave her a fire ponytail and the splashes of green and yellow it really helps keep the outfit from being too red and gives a little extra life to it the cannon design lacks.

Your cherri design looks amazing and agree with your points i like to draw outfits and Cheri outfit gives me headache to study and i agree with everyone getting red treatment has TOO much of same color of red if they wanted to sneak red in the redesigns they could of have used different shades of red or different colors and i hope the backgrounds will have different colors other than red but otherwise your video had good points!
Okay it looks so much better and when I saw the community tab about telling the differences I was literally getting confused to the point I gave up I liked how it stands out more darker reddish tones and it really fits to the time period she is in so I really loved it! 👍

I know it’s an art style but everytime I see the actual Cherri Bomb, I keep thinking she was born with one leg shorter than the other to the effect that she had to use a heeled boot to elevate that leg to walk normally. It never occurred to me that the other foot is not shoeless, but rather a flats. Still, as a person who studied more on science than art, and also highly technical, how could you walk comfortably, a heeled boot and a flat shoe, without support, especially since it’s clear that Cherri has a normal human foot? Unless she has a shorter leg on the heeled boot, she won’t be able to walk properly, let alone run and jump right. (I only know this because I’ve seen a few people with that condition whereby one of the legs is significantly shorter than the other ) Meanwhile your redesign at least makes it more sensible for Cherri to be able to still walk, run and jump comfortably.
punk and goth fashion always been one of favorite aesthetics and I think it fits her. Imma just say. Very disappointing that viv had given almost all the characters that same pink, red and white color palette. Including some with the same blonde hair. Like I get hell in her world is red but Helluva boss got good designs that aren't just all red. Another reason im disappointed in them being stuck in the pride ring also is cause the other rings so fair aren't just all red. Also yeah it is a huge red flag that she made Cherri Australian last minute cause makes me wonder if she just makes things up as she goes along.

Not gonna lie I really love how you make Cherry bomb pop out with this design. I especially love how you make the back of her hair design so fluffy and more like an explosion I really like that. ^w^
I love the redesign. You took the cherry bomb name and made it a realized theme . Its not too subtle or too on the nose. I like the more varied pallet too, you used more of a burgundy here and there with some cherry reds too. The darker yellow here and there to carry the eye was a good touch too. And thank you for simplifying the tight rips. I still say even as is , this one is easier to animate than the predecessor. Clear color placement, no parts are lost on each other, soothing that fits the era and style bit still makes sense. (You made her heels the same size despite being different shoes thank you. ) and she just has a lot more personality here. You made her explosive. I think one of my favorite parts is the hair. You made it look like a lit fuse. And the x's feel like a better suit foe her than Vaggie. The tattoos font me me cry either. Over all its awesome. Honestly, cherri is one of my least liked characters and designs from said show. The ponytail could have looked like an explosion and she could ahev had more of a bomb theme , but all we got was red-pink-yellow pallet swap number 5. Not to mention she looks both like hell to animate and confusing to draw. A long pony tail on a stick holder with long hair and they often conflict if you aren't careful. The gradient does not help. Removing the lower hair and making it a full on pony tail was a good idea on tour redesign. There needs to be more of a conversation about the misuse of red here. Viv honestly doesn't use a variety of red or reddish-pinks. She uses the exact same one without explanation despite it either blending a character into the background, making these complicated characters somehow look the exact same because she honestly copies and pastes pallets, and a he refuses to acknowledge other values and colors on the color wheel. Its digital art, she has access to every color imaginable. But she uses the same seven colors nearly every time. I've seen biblical paintings that depicted hell as far more colorful than she does. I look at her work and it gives me eye strain as well as color deprivation because I start seeing green shortly after. That is a problem. Plenty of shows have worked with a limited pallet and had far better placement/usage than this. And is she allergic to color theory? Blue and green? I know for a fact that is one of the first things you learn in art school. Or did she completely disregard those classes for a passion project shes got her fans to pay for? And no amount of "its a pilot" or "its her art style" or "You're just jealous" or fandom enabling will change that. The red is a legitimate problem, ans a paying network needs to step in because its no longer just for the fans anymore, its for a general audience that doesn't feel obligated to ignore or deal with it. They vote with their views.
Your redesign of Cherri Bomb looks awesome! She looks like she's ready to kick some butt and take names all while expressing herself with her style. Just another awesome video. One of my most significant issues with the Hazbin Hotel designs is how so many of Vivziepop’s characters don’t look like they’re from their time. It’s hard to pinpoint when some of her characters died because they either barely or don’t dress like from their time. It’s disappointing since she could’ve done a lot with time-accurate designs.

@@LovesArt23 Considering how many artists I’ve seen redesign her characters to be more time-accurate, I definitely believe Vivziepop could’ve done the same. There are plenty of images on the internet that can be used as references to make the outfits more accurate. If other people can do research to make the outfits more accurate so can Vivziepop.

Yeah, while I do agree that it kinda sucks that the hazbin hotel characters don’t look like they’re from their time. I’m hoping that there might be a story reason for this, like that they first arrived in time period accurate clothes but some demons can choose to change their outfits if they want. Like I saw one animatic with vox and there was a flashback scene where vox’s head resembled an actual 50s tv. So I think maybe that’s what Viv is going for, and perhaps all the rings have a “color motif’ like the von eldritch family have lots of green and teal in their design, the lust ring has a bunch of pinks and purples, the wrath ring is very orange, and the pride ring has red. While I do see where people are coming from (and do agree with some of the criticisms) I try to keep in open mind because there could be a story reason, like RWBY ice queendom’s designs for the characters in the dream world were first revealed there were some complaints but once the anime aired the designs made more sense. I do agree with your points about design and story.

As a character designer myself it's just sad.When making a character with specific details you need to do at least some research to let your audience know what's their type. It's literally what character design is all about! Viv has disappointed me with her final designs when the Alastor redesign dropped. I'm very glad though you get what a character should really be! Viv should take some lessons from fans!
I think this re redesign shows that you can use the elements from the original designs to make good new ones but Viv either doesn't know how or doesn't want to and I don't know which I prefer. I like that you still mostly used reds but you also added pops of yellow and green, drawing attention to certain parts of Cherri and making her stand out

It’s really easy to “loose” the original Cherry among all the other “red/light yellow/white” characters and it’s a shame because Cherry has an actual reason to include all those colors (like… it’s in her name, she’s supposed to resemble fire and explosions). Your design is really fun tho, gives me Arcane Jinx’s vibe❤️
PS. I really think that most of Viv’s designs have the same problem: they were done before the story and aesthetic for them was created. Basically, you get the feeling that they were done backwards - I myself can see that problem with my old OC designs that have come through a lot of reincarnations without a clear direction behind them

You have some of my favorite ever redesigns I can't even put it into words- it just really feels like you care about and pay attention to what the characters are supposed to be rather than whatever you want them to be if that makes sense? Also, small, but I love how her ponytail thing without the gradients looks more like an explosion- really fitting of the character

As someone who has been around awhile and remembers Viv's webcomics...
People have always said Viv's strong point is her style. She has a colourful and interesting art style especially with the sharp and bouncy angles.
But she's always had weird/bad character design choices. Sometimes it works and you get a character who is fun to look at. Other times it's just messy and chaotic to the point of being nonsensical. It makes sense in the long run if you look at her old work and realize she's not a good writer. She can't finish character arcs or focus on plot points before quickly moving onto the next thing just because she finds it more interesting. She's less of a story writer and more of a doodle machine. She can draw a bunch of characters all day long in vignettes, but the actual story is less of an actual story and more of just a bunch of headcanons rattling around.
it feels like sometimes Viv is trying to do a "everyone uses the same/similar color pallet" thing that suff like YTTD did, but she fundamentally misunderstands how those color pallets operate and as results makes a mess. the only issue with this way of looking at it, is there are a few characters who completely ignore this pattern (Vox specifically) and as results those few who do have different colors look wildly out of place.
i don't think the colors is an issue with her art because it's clear via Helluva Boss that she's capable of using other colors- she's doing this on purpose for some fucking reason??? and i think it's because she wants to use that everyone shares colors thing. she just has no clue how to execute that
As an Australian I'm a little nervous about Cherry being Aussie. I don't want her speech and slang to be cheesy and groan inducing. But I would've loved to see Vivi give her a perm or a mullet, haha.

i also wish there was more colors in hazbin hotel, especially since there's just so many awesome background characters in helluva boss that proves vivzie is capable of designs without that specific shade or red and other colors in general,,
The big thing that bothers me about the canon designs are the excessive details (and the colours, but you already said it all perfectly)
All the stripes, bows, rips etc are just not animation friendly. In 3D and flash sure, but for hand drawn 2D it's a nightmare!
The characters don't NEED all those details to communicate what they're about to the audience

Hi! This was a great breakdown on what's lacking in the designs of Vivziepop. I think for your re-redesign there's some things I'd like to say. I absolutely love the jacket idea! It works really well punkrock wise! I do think there's one big problem here: Way too many details. This is an animation show and everything should be efficient to animate, this design is completely packed with details and patterns to keep track of. Your point on hazbin hotel's use of "red" is completely valid and a more reddish color should be added. However, colors should still fit within the colorscheme. The red you used here doesn't fit that well because it's very saturated. Besides that, it's also good to use limited color. I think the yellow and green are a bit too much, using just yellow with a range of reds would probably work better. The hair in the original design is very simplified and thus easy to animate, and although yours looks great as an illustration, it would be a lot more difficult to keep track of. I really like the gradient in it tho! Very punkrocky!! There's loads of elements that you came up with that work really well and the team should definitely considering!
Honestly, I also feel very disappointed with the designs, like they have such a good concept and they are not taking advantage of it. I tu sed to look up to Viv too, she is what got me into design and I really thank her for that. But man you did a great job, the colors are great and the idea of the back of the jacket it’s so creative. I hope you have a nice trip by the way

I Think your re-design is so great!! I love the more punk stile you´ve given her it looks so good :D the only thing that is kinda throwing me off a little bit is the yellow accents they look a little random and it might have been better If they where green. She has good ideas but either doesn’t want to waste so much time figuring it out OR! She doesn’t realize that maybe she should learn more about how to write and/or design character’s to show to an audience on television or any media.

This design kinda has me on the eh side, I mean yellow I just don't like it, I think it pops out a lot, and the hint of green is also a strange choice. Though she looks like a daredevil so that's pretty cool!
Also for HH, I think these characters will be changing outfits from time to time, so maybe we will see hints of their time era in their different outfits. Also, I can't find myself being mad with the current designs for HH, I mean not everything is going to be accurate in Viv’s designs. I figured this out after seeing Asmodeus and Paimon, she is taking a lot of artistic liberty and I can't be mad at it. She is doing her and sometimes she lets her team design the characters or take a crack at it. They might not always hit for everyone but I’m just glad we are seeing hints of their designs, or just anything at all.
the Asmodeus and paimon I can see as its just viv taking already exciting info thats not hers and making her own interpretation of the biblical figures but when it comes to her own characters the ones she created not looking what she said they where supposed to look like or what there based around and not look any where close to it is kinda disappointing obviously she and her team don't have to completely start over just add a few hints so the audience can figure it out I can't even tell you how many ppl had no idea Vaggie was based around a moth or that Charlie was based on a doll and not a clown or that Alastor is based on a deer its the artist job to make sure the audience sees what we see but thats just me and my work mentality

I LOVE this design, not only because I want to get into punk, but also because it gave me an amazing idea.
What if Charlie and the hotel employees had blue uniforms? The angels in Helluva Boss had A LOT of blue in their designs, so it would make sense that Charlie would pull from that. The inside of the hotel itself could also be blue/white/gold and look super pretty.
On top of that, what if the morally corrupt characters kept their red color palettes? So Alastor would be completely black/red, but Angel would stay light pink since he shows hints of wanting to change. It would provide a lot of visual storytelling, especially if characters changed colors gradually throughout the series. Just an idea though!
What if instead of using the blue,gold, and white color scheme for the uniforms, they could make uniforms based off they’re kind of demon, with those colors as hints? For example, because angel dust is a spider demon, he would have a uniform that would have some sort of connection with spiders, and then tint it with blue gold and white, maybe even other pastels!

I think Cherri's hair gradient thing is strange because the main part goes from pink to yellow but the ponytail goes from yellow to pink (if she puts her hair down the colourists just have to guess I'm assuming). Love that you made her blonde roots look like an explosion and kept her bomb fuse hair (and making the fuse part actually look like fire!)

Yeah I never understood that part! Whenever I drew her, I just did pink to yellow for both parts. I kind of get why I guess, cause the huge glob of pink doesn't look the greatest but at least you know how the hair actually works.

Viv's designs look like they were drawn by a middle schooler... and she's had these characters since she was in middle school, you think they'd be better now that shes an adult with 2 successful series.
Not only are the designs bad, but if we're relying on the writing, that's also bad from what we've seen of HB. I'm lowkey worried the humor will be similar to Villainous, which don't get me wrong I LOVED that show when I was a kid. But thats a kid's show, and the episodes are very short, so a whole 30 minutes of silly dick jokes would be absolute torture. Rewatching the Pilot, the jokes weren't that funny, and it was VERY fast paced. I enjoyed it when it came out, but I was literally 14. My humor has changed since then, and honestly with each passing year my hopes for this show lower. I'm really hoping the TV show that picked up on this project does more justice. (ALSO I feel I should mention that I have no hate for the artists who work on HH and HB. They are all SUPER talented and I could never animate something so smoothly.)

I so hope that the characters get outfit changes at least a few times (or even new outfits for S2 assuming we get one) because even though I don't mind some of them, I think them interacting with each other and the backgrounds is going to get confusing and worst case scenario, annoying. It's too late to change any of the designs I imagine but hopefully Viv can make better designs for things in the future. Also you were so right about that one shade of red and it actually annoys me. I remember drawing Husk once as well as Charlie in the past and them having similar but still pretty different shades of red. Like put next to each other it was clear that Charlie's red was more pink and Husk's red was more pure red. Like, Viv knows she's not confined to a certain number of colors right (I mean I sure hope she isn't)?

OMG CHERRI LOOKS GORGEOUS :0 I wasn't too "wowwed" by her official design(even if it still looks ok) but HOLY SHIT your redesign looks amazing!(but maybe that's jsut my love for punk fashion taking over lol) On the topic of the new cannon designs for the cast... I'm not too impressed either. I love the color red, but in Hazbin Hotel... it's just too much. I honestly wouldn't want to buy merch of the characters in their current designs, and with their current track record... I'm not going to get my hopes up if they change outfits during the show.(No hate to Viv and her crew, obviously. I know that they've been hard at work but that doesn't stop me from being disappointed.)
i don't hate this redesign but would've loved to see the colors being played with a little more. i understand her name is "cherry bomb" and that her signature colors are BRIGHT or red but why not offset it with some browns instead of the pale skintone?
That was literally my only complaint, the tones you used for the clothes looked great and i loved the ankle boot
I personally don’t enjoy this version as much. It’s a bit too bright. But that’s probably because I get headaches from certain bright colors. I think the concept is awesome. Vivzipop really needs to actually use the inspiration she takes. Like she draws inspiration from a certain thing BUT DOESNT USE IT. I think Vivzipops designs are pleasing to look at but aren’t that great when it comes to overall worldbuilding and character design. Mosts have great silhouettes but their color palettes just blend into each other. If the background and the characters didn’t have different lineart, they would blend into each other as well.

I also used to look up to Viv and used to be in love with her designs and animation but now i lost all my respect to her, and after a few re-watching I've noticed alot of problems with her writing and after learning about hh character information and what time period they are supposed to be from it and seeing how they look nothing like it ( i am a bit of a fashion history nerd myself) and how she doesn't seem to research the asstetic she's supposed to be refrising and how she keeps using the same colours and just like you i kept getting dispointed after every "redesign" and don't understand how can people still praise this mess , that's the biggest issue with Viv and her fan's her fan's are tooo protective of her and come after and attack anyone who dares try to give Viv a tiny bit of criticism and seem to have this werid parasocial realationship with her and seem to think that she is that perfect angle who can't hurt a fly it's probably why she would never improve as an artist or a writer bec she knows people would just eat it up for her, honestly the thing i somewhat like about HH is that the settings allow me to go absolutely wild with my oc's design but THAT'S IT , i no longer care about the characters and I don't trust Viv to be a good writer and is having my doubts about her as a person( 'cough' the eren situation 'cough' ) , same with HB but that's a whole other can of worms
Anyway amazing design as always i really love how you made chiires hair it looks so much better and i love the different boots as the one Heald boot and the flat shoe look were so uncomfortable for me to look at and really made the design so annoying, and i love that you gave her a TRUE punk look 👍 your one of my favourite UA-cam artists 💝, have fun in your viction

I'm partial to Cherri just because she's a fun character, but WOW does you're redesign have personality. It's more stylized (independently of the rest of the world), better color ratios- everything. If I were to change anything, maybe the skin tone? I almost prefer the color you have on her hands/chest/leg. Personally, I think that softer skin-tone grey would make the other colors pop even more and make her less human. But das me. Awesome job regardless :D
Yeah I wanted to use the skin tone I used in my old deisgn but alot of ppl where 50/50 on it and I didnt need the race comments I got enough stuff going on I don't need ppl arguing

Really love this design, I love it's loudness. Viv's character designs tend to be loud, but not in a good way. Not only is it done well here, but as the character's name is literally Cherri Bomb she should look loud (compared to everyone else at least)
Cherri is a character that I’m very confused by her design. First why are you pink? I know characters don’t have to have a color that works with the name (Cherri, Cherry red you know) but out of everyone to throw a lot of red on I’d think this would be a good character to do red. And she doesn’t look her time period in fact she looks more like the 2000’s neon pop-punk that was popular for a short time at least where I’m from. I love that you gave her a fire ponytail and the splashes of green and yellow it really helps keep the outfit from being too red and gives a little extra life to it the cannon design lacks.
I love this! Like, Really Really Love it!! The outfit, the hair, the mmmm! It gives her so much more personality than her old one!! And I love how she looks punk and that You know it's punk!!! This is my favorite by far with your redesigns!

Your cherri design looks amazing and agree with your points i like to draw outfits and Cheri outfit gives me headache to study and i agree with everyone getting red treatment has TOO much of same color of red if they wanted to sneak red in the redesigns they could of have used different shades of red or different colors and i hope the backgrounds will have different colors other than red but otherwise your video had good points!
Okay it looks so much better and when I saw the community tab about telling the differences I was literally getting confused to the point I gave up I liked how it stands out more darker reddish tones and it really fits to the time period she is in so I really loved it! 👍

I know it’s an art style but everytime I see the actual Cherri Bomb, I keep thinking she was born with one leg shorter than the other to the effect that she had to use a heeled boot to elevate that leg to walk normally.
It never occurred to me that the other foot is not shoeless, but rather a flats.
Still, as a person who studied more on science than art, and also highly technical, how could you walk comfortably, a heeled boot and a flat shoe, without support, especially since it’s clear that Cherri has a normal human foot?
Unless she has a shorter leg on the heeled boot, she won’t be able to walk properly, let alone run and jump right. (I only know this because I’ve seen a few people with that condition whereby one of the legs is significantly shorter than the other )
Meanwhile your redesign at least makes it more sensible for Cherri to be able to still walk, run and jump comfortably.
punk and goth fashion always been one of favorite aesthetics and I think it fits her.
Imma just say. Very disappointing that viv had given almost all the characters that same pink, red and white color palette. Including some with the same blonde hair. Like I get hell in her world is red but Helluva boss got good designs that aren't just all red. Another reason im disappointed in them being stuck in the pride ring also is cause the other rings so fair aren't just all red.
Also yeah it is a huge red flag that she made Cherri Australian last minute cause makes me wonder if she just makes things up as she goes along.

I love the redesign. You took the cherry bomb name and made it a realized theme . Its not too subtle or too on the nose. I like the more varied pallet too, you used more of a burgundy here and there with some cherry reds too. The darker yellow here and there to carry the eye was a good touch too. And thank you for simplifying the tight rips. I still say even as is , this one is easier to animate than the predecessor. Clear color placement, no parts are lost on each other, soothing that fits the era and style bit still makes sense. (You made her heels the same size despite being different shoes thank you. ) and she just has a lot more personality here. You made her explosive. I think one of my favorite parts is the hair. You made it look like a lit fuse. And the x's feel like a better suit foe her than Vaggie. The tattoos font me me cry either. Over all its awesome.
Honestly, cherri is one of my least liked characters and designs from said show. The ponytail could have looked like an explosion and she could ahev had more of a bomb theme , but all we got was red-pink-yellow pallet swap number 5. Not to mention she looks both like hell to animate and confusing to draw. A long pony tail on a stick holder with long hair and they often conflict if you aren't careful. The gradient does not help. Removing the lower hair and making it a full on pony tail was a good idea on tour redesign.
There needs to be more of a conversation about the misuse of red here. Viv honestly doesn't use a variety of red or reddish-pinks. She uses the exact same one without explanation despite it either blending a character into the background, making these complicated characters somehow look the exact same because she honestly copies and pastes pallets, and a he refuses to acknowledge other values and colors on the color wheel. Its digital art, she has access to every color imaginable. But she uses the same seven colors nearly every time. I've seen biblical paintings that depicted hell as far more colorful than she does. I look at her work and it gives me eye strain as well as color deprivation because I start seeing green shortly after. That is a problem.
Plenty of shows have worked with a limited pallet and had far better placement/usage than this. And is she allergic to color theory? Blue and green? I know for a fact that is one of the first things you learn in art school. Or did she completely disregard those classes for a passion project shes got her fans to pay for? And no amount of "its a pilot" or "its her art style" or "You're just jealous" or fandom enabling will change that. The red is a legitimate problem, ans a paying network needs to step in because its no longer just for the fans anymore, its for a general audience that doesn't feel obligated to ignore or deal with it. They vote with their views.
Ngl, I think it'd be really cool if the reason Cherry wears shoes with different heights is because her legs aren't the same length.
Your redesign of Cherri Bomb looks awesome! She looks like she's ready to kick some butt and take names all while expressing herself with her style. Just another awesome video.
