  • "The Challenge of Creative Self-Expression: The Gateway to Contentment" This Manly Hall lecture is now available for the first time since it was spoken and recorded over 60 years ago.
As always, Mr. Hall delivers an interesting and practical message that is just as viable today. He describes a Zen garden, which at the time was not nearly as well known as is is today. He also suggests self-publishing and starting 'meet up' type groups together. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

This is easily one of the greatest manly p hall speeches…so often we search for answers in his other talks yet forget to realize we all posses something special and creative inside. This is even more potent today with the immersion of hyperactive social medias causing even more of a deficiency in creative outlets. We consume through our phones, no longer our minds.

Is it a coincidence that I'm listening to so much manly lectures that I'm really starting to feel "Manly'ier' than my peers haha. I feel like I have to sit in silence as speaking knowledge only falls on deaf ears in these modern societal experience.

Its not just you. Ive settled to turning to humor... but many dont get that either and just want to be disagreeable regardless (even IF you agree with everything they say, theyll still "correct" you and condescend). I do my absolute BEST to avoid those people at all costs and when I cant, im fine with silence, awkward or not

U@@davidjones8043 turning to humour also falls on deaf ears as it's not laughter or knowledge people sought but drama and gossip.i know what you mean thou ..one tells a joke or observational humour to makes ones self laugh as it's what we find funny and often make the mistake and share thinking that someone else would also find it funny when it's not humour they seek or even want to hear..mehh people ..still I'd say it thou lol..n make myself feel awkward and think psshhh humourless sod or something like that .. i have for a time in the past wrote things down as opposed to saying it aloud and it had worked as a mental saviour ..idk ..must be a reason to listen to such things às this..but then lol try n mention a topic or quote from someone like manly p.hall.and well . falling on deaf ears

You can only see as far as your next alcoholic drink or cigarette. This is the reason why best art is attained in a condition of sobriety because there is nothing that is in the way of the the picture and the creativity at hand... you have the ability to see far beyond your next impulsive decision. It is of no joke that when you encounter those who has not ignited thier ways in to self express and act upon thier borned interest that boredom from evidence has resulted in a production of a large amount of alcoholics in a negative way due to idlism.
I now blow dry my hair and have estimated my own creativity at £70. I also do my own makeup up and have no interest in hiring a make-up artist on my special day. I have been the one that has been working on my self. Why would I want somebody to to work on a face in which I've got more experience over?
These are just a very few personal examples which I hope can help gain insight into art.

The "great awakening"; commercialized creativity "media" has perfected its formula, and our minds are getting bored with it all.
