So pleased you enjoyed these gardens Ryan! It is a great day out for us as the village is too far away from us. They have been working hard over the last two- three years as they got a grant from the Heritage Fund. Their Rock Garden was not finished on our last visit almost three years ago so it was nice to get there this September to see it. I was surprised their Victorian Garden was no more! It has been a long time since our last visit for different reasons so I was pleased I got to see the Rock Garden all finished this September. The big surprise was to find that the Victorian Garden had been change entirely and has been re-designed and planted out so is now called The Walled Garden. It is the first year so I think it will mature well as time passes. I have always liked The Edwardian Garden, as it is nice and peaceful to sit and hear the aviary birds twittering away and it was bedded out beautifully this year. I am so lucky that we do not live too fat from those lovely gardens. I left it a few years before going back as they have been busy finishing the Rock Garden after replanting the water lilies in the lake since my last visit. Then they got a grant to replant some of the gardens so when I visited this summer I found they had also changed the Victorian Garden completely and it is now the Walled Garden! Thank you Cathy. We do not live too far from these lovely gardens so easy to have a day out there now and then. It is not a large as some gardens we visit as it is in a village and run by a trust but there is so much to enjoy there. They have done a lot of work in the last three years thanks to help from the Heritage Lottery Fund. I was so pleased we got there to see the changes last September and I was nor disappointed. Always beautifully looked after and since my last visit they have finished the new Rock Garden and that would be worth a visit one spring. Thank you Dee. Yes, the Edwardian Garden has always been my favourite and this year it was more beautiful than before. So nice to hear the aviary birds there, twittering as well. The Walled Garden was quiet a surprise as it had been a Victorian Garden in all the years I have visited. It looks bigger that it does in my video and I am looking forward to seeing it mature over the years. The Heritage Lottery Fund have certainly helped with the cost of alterations and I am so pleased to say they have a female Head Gardener👍 and what a wonderful job she does planning it every year. The garden is in the village of Pocklington so quite small compared to other gardens we visit so only a small car park but we can always visit out of holiday seasons. I have been wanting to go back to Burnby Hall Gardens when, in Spring 2019, I saw they were replanting and redesigning their Rock Garden so it was a lovely day in September to visit. They were doing some work on the The Edwardian Garden back then but I was surprised how much they did do and the Walled Garden was the biggest surprise as that had been the Victorian Garden ever since we had been visiting. I think that will improve much more over the years, as will the Rock Garden as they are both very young. So nice to have this day out not too far from us. I adore all Dahlias Helena. They were my fathers favourite flower so mum always had some big tuber ones in the garden. Now there are so many lovely different shapes and colours to see but I have to get the smaller bedding one every summer just for the borders. I used to love growing them from seed every spring until I lost my greenhouse/shed about 15 years ago now. Still, I am lucky that Dahlias came back into fashion and the garden centres near us have a lovely lot of bedding ones to buy every spring. They are the main plant on my summer list as they last until the first frost. I would love to have a Dahlia Farm near us. @@chaldon2viewJ84M one year it would be worth a few days in Berlin .Forget the Brandenburg Gate .An odd city with so much forest water and farming too .The Wind mill near to where I live is amazing and there are houses with large gardens where people have created wonderful garden cafes and beautiful served( .Savoury and sweet the baking is spot on) .Plus they are near to the Dahlia farm run by a man ..Such places are among the jewels of Berlin ..A city that is more akin to a collection of villages :)

Thank you Tomotugu for viewing. I have visited Burnby Hall Gardens quite a few times over the years as it is not too far from us so a nice day out. It is over three years since we saw the Rock Garden beginning to take shape but I was surprised that they had also done such a lot of work on the other gardens due to help from the Heritage Fund. My favourite is still the Edwardian Garden with the birds twittering away as we walk around. Again, I didn't see any butterflies!! Have a happy week with lots of sunshine. Hi Julie. I see you managed to catch some good sunny weather here, always makes such a difference to the day. Great shots of the lake and a great close up of the Dragon Fly, or Damsel Fly, also good shallow depth of field too. Great choice of music you have here. Down this neck of the woods it's been extremely hot and sunny most days throughout the summer period and quite a lot of the autumn too. Some of the days did get a bit much with the extreme heat we had and it's times like that we wish we had proper Air Conditioning indoors at least enough to be able to sleep at night. Hi Geoff. Many thanks for viewing. This place never disappoints and I have been quite a few times over the years. It was nice to get there this year and see all the alterations they have done since my last visit overt 3 years ago. I didn't enjoy our summer weather much at all. It was far too hot for me and our garden and even up in Scotland for a week staying in Fort William started out bad. The weather was a change, as it was cool but we had a nightmare getting up there with some roads closed at Falkirk and the SatNav was not much help so had a job finding the hotel for our one night stop on the way up. The following day as we just got almost to Fort William at the road through Glen Coe when an accident close that road! Well, as you might know there are only three roads in and out of Fort William so we were diverted west to take the road along Loch Awe and then, from just north of Oban, north to Forth William. It was getting later in the evening by then, with lots more cars etc. with us and got to turn north when another accident closed that road for 6 hours!!. The police said the only way to our hotel was to go back to where we started at the entrance to Glen Coe as that road was now open... so we turned around and back we went. It was an awful drive back and now almost dark so by the time we got to turning into Glen Coe we had to drive through the Pass of Glen Coe in total darkness hoping that now deer would run out in front of us! At 10:30pm we got to the hotel who knew about the road closures so understood why we were very late. It was a bad start to that holiday😕😪 Have a wonderful Friday and weekend. I think it is a wonderful place to visit and we are lucky we can go for an afternoon visit as it is not too far away. This was my first visit for about three years as I knew they were doing a lot of work, finishing the Rock Garden last time we went and then re-plant other gardens and then the big change, that had just been finished, is the Walled Garden. I love seeing the birds but there wasn't as many as usual, unless some were inside, keeping warm! I only saw the one budgerigar this time and it was the same colour as our last budgerigar. I had a blue one first, a male, so he talked a little and was adorable. I got upset when he died so after loosing the green female I have been reluctant to get another. It is one of the best gardens we have visited that does not belong to one of the big organisations, like National Trust of England or Scotland. It is run my a trust in the village it sits in. Thank you for viewing Ann. I did feel sorry for that Mallard as he was the only duck we saw and two Moorhens. He did like the fish food and others who got some also fed him a few pellets. We had run out of ours by the time we got half way around the lake but I think Mr Mallard was following in hope we had some left. If the visitor centre had not been closed on our way our, I am soft enough to have bought another back of fish food, just to give his a few🙄 It isn't a long journey for us to have an afternoon out at Burnby Gardens so next time we visit I will have to make sure I keep some food back for him. Thank you Tine. We are lucky that we do not live not too far away so it is an easy day visit by car. On our last visit I found they were having a lot of work to do on a new Rock Garden and some replanting in others the following year, then we had the pandemic as well so I did not get there again until this September. They have done a wonderful job. It is not a large garden compared to the NT gardens I visit but always well looked after. Yes, the fish were even more eager for food that ever and we can usually hand feed them as we always get some fish food from the visitor centre but this time they had a warning up not to handfeed them as before, unless you want to get drenched🙄 The amount of work they have done since our last visit is enormous but I still like the Edwardian Garden best. I love these gardens and so happy that got I got there this September to see all the re-designed gardens and other they have re-planted these last three years. The Rock Garden had nothing there last time I was there and now, what was the Victorian Garden being changed beyond recognition it was quite a surprise! It is now The Walled Garden. It is its first year so it should mature well from now on. The Edwardian Garden is still my favourite with the birds in the aviary twittering away. The fish were very active that day, They can be usually be hand fed but notices were up that day to say not to get too near unless you wanted drenching☔😬 Lovely to see them but they do get plenty of fish food as we and other visitors always buy some from the visitor centre. Yet another garden for us to visit if we find ourselves up north again Julie. You can never shoot enough pampas grass in my opinion, absolutely fantastic. The giraffes looked very interesting too. Did I detect a scene which you played backwards towards the end? Instead of the ripples flowing outwards from the center of the lake, they rippled inwards towards the center 😁. Burnby Hall reminded me of so many different properties here down south, the lake at Sheffield Park, the rock garden at Emmetts, the small bridge at Hyde Hall, a kind of potpourri of all things beautiful. Just waiting for the weather to get a bit drier for another venture out, it's all a bit wet and miserable down here, not sure if I can afford the leccy to charge up my batteries for the camcorder, it's either that or not eating for a week or two. - only joking!! Hi Steve. Trust you to notice that! I didn't until it was too late 😥 I have done it before but made sure any people were not walking backwards🙄 As usual I forget to take more footage of us leaving a place and should take more images as Hubby is always telling me to take more images, like I used to when I printed best ones off for my photo albums, but ink is so expensive and I also need a new photo printer as this one is hopeless but will have to do for now. Everything is getting a bit pricey and, being a Yorkshire Lass, I do do not like the cost of living we are all having now😞 Like you, we will mange OK but I do feel for those who will struggle. If you do get to near Pocklington one year, Burnby Hall, Gardens and their small Museum is worth a visit. I haven't been to their museum for many years but I believe they have got that building enlarged recently. Have a pleasant evening and many thanks for viewing. Thank you FF for viewing. It is over three years since our last visit as the Rock Garden had just been started then. It was a surprise to find the Victorian Garden had been flattened and replanted with lawns and borders and is now called The Walled Garden. I hope it matures well as this was its first summer. My favourite is still the Edwardian Garden that looked wonderful this year. Not as many birds in the aviary as there was a few years ago but lovely to hear them twittering as we walked around. We have been visiting these garden now and then for years as Burnby Hall is easy to get to for a day out. We have to pick the right day as their car park in quite small and being almost in the middle of the village, there is not much parking outside at holiday times. When I visit gardens like these I come away wishing I had a garden that size even though I know we could never manage one if we did😞 They also have a small plant stall outside the visitor centre and I would have liked to have look at the plants to see if there was a perennial I could come away with but the visitor centre had closed so no luck that day 😥 Have a happy day FF with nice weather. Yes, it is a place we can visit quite often as it is an easy day out for us. With one thing and another I have not been back until this year as on the last visit they had just stared the Rock Garden and then they began re planting some as well as totally altering the Victorian Garden to what is now the new "Walled Garden" ... Not sure I like it as much as when it was the Victorian one that had been there for many years but I suppose it will mature over the years. My favourite is still the Edwardian Garden with the aviary birds chirping away, also they have re-designed that back borders beautifully. Enjoy the weekend and thank you for your lovely comments. So pleased you enjoyed these gardens Ryan! It is a great day out for us as the village is too far away from us. They have been working hard over the last two- three years as they got a grant from the Heritage Fund. Their Rock Garden was not finished on our last visit almost three years ago so it was nice to get there this September to see it. I was surprised their Victorian Garden was no more! I am so lucky that we do not live too fat from those lovely gardens. I left it a few years before going back as they have been busy finishing the Rock Garden after replanting the water lilies in the lake since my last visit. Then they got a grant to replant some of the gardens so when I visited this summer I found they had also changed the Victorian Garden completely and it is now the Walled Garden! It is not a large as some gardens we visit as it is in a village and run by a trust but there is so much to enjoy there. Thank you Dee. Yes, the Edwardian Garden has always been my favourite and this year it was more beautiful than before. So nice to hear the aviary birds there, twittering as well. The Walled Garden was quiet a surprise as it had been a Victorian Garden in all the years I have visited. It looks bigger that it does in my video and I am looking forward to seeing it mature over the years. The Heritage Lottery Fund have certainly helped with the cost of alterations and I am so pleased to say they have a female Head Gardener👍 and what a wonderful job she does planning it every year. The garden is in the village of Pocklington so quite small compared to other gardens we visit so only a small car park but we can always visit out of holiday seasons. I have been wanting to go back to Burnby Hall Gardens when, in Spring 2019, I saw they were replanting and redesigning their Rock Garden so it was a lovely day in September to visit. They were doing some work on the The Edwardian Garden back then but I was surprised how much they did do and the Walled Garden was the biggest surprise as that had been the Victorian Garden ever since we had been visiting. I think that will improve much more over the years, as will the Rock Garden as they are both very young. So nice to have this day out not too far from us. I adore all Dahlias Helena. They were my fathers favourite flower so mum always had some big tuber ones in the garden. Now there are so many lovely different shapes and colours to see but I have to get the smaller bedding one every summer just for the borders. I used to love growing them from seed every spring until I lost my greenhouse/shed about 15 years ago now. Still, I am lucky that Dahlias came back into fashion and the garden centres near us have a lovely lot of bedding ones to buy every spring. They are the main plant on my summer list as they last until the first frost. I would love to have a Dahlia Farm near us. @@chaldon2viewJ84M one year it would be worth a few days in Berlin .Forget the Brandenburg Gate .An odd city with so much forest water and farming too .The Wind mill near to where I live is amazing and there are houses with large gardens where people have created wonderful garden cafes and beautiful served( .Savoury and sweet the baking is spot on) .Plus they are near to the Dahlia farm run by a man ..Such places are among the jewels of Berlin ..A city that is more akin to a collection of villages :)

It is over three years since we saw the Rock Garden beginning to take shape but I was surprised that they had also done such a lot of work on the other gardens due to help from the Heritage Fund. My favourite is still the Edwardian Garden with the birds twittering away as we walk around. Again, I didn't see any butterflies!! Have a happy week with lots of sunshine. It is a garden worth visiting any time but I was surprised how much alterations and replanting they had done in the last three years, especially to the Walled Garden as it had been a Victorian Garden in all the years I had gone there. It will look even better as it matures. I liked the Owl and I was hoping they might get more of these wire sculptures another year, not too many, just to come across while waking around. Hi Julie. I see you managed to catch some good sunny weather here, always makes such a difference to the day. Great shots of the lake and a great close up of the Dragon Fly, or Damsel Fly, also good shallow depth of field too. Great choice of music you have here. Down this neck of the woods it's been extremely hot and sunny most days throughout the summer period and quite a lot of the autumn too. Some of the days did get a bit much with the extreme heat we had and it's times like that we wish we had proper Air Conditioning indoors at least enough to be able to sleep at night. Hi Geoff. Many thanks for viewing. This place never disappoints and I have been quite a few times over the years. It was nice to get there this year and see all the alterations they have done since my last visit overt 3 years ago. I didn't enjoy our summer weather much at all. It was far too hot for me and our garden and even up in Scotland for a week staying in Fort William started out bad. The weather was a change, as it was cool but we had a nightmare getting up there with some roads closed at Falkirk and the SatNav was not much help so had a job finding the hotel for our one night stop on the way up. The following day as we just got almost to Fort William at the road through Glen Coe when an accident close that road! Well, as you might know there are only three roads in and out of Fort William so we were diverted west to take the road along Loch Awe and then, from just north of Oban, north to Forth William. It was getting later in the evening by then, with lots more cars etc. with us and got to turn north when another accident closed that road for 6 hours!!. The police said the only way to our hotel was to go back to where we started at the entrance to Glen Coe as that road was now open... so we turned around and back we went. It was an awful drive back and now almost dark so by the time we got to turning into Glen Coe we had to drive through the Pass of Glen Coe in total darkness hoping that now deer would run out in front of us! At 10:30pm we got to the hotel who knew about the road closures so understood why we were very late. It was a bad start to that holiday😕😪

Many thanks Petra. As gardens go, this is not a huge garden and is in the village. I think it is a wonderful place to visit and we are lucky we can go for an afternoon visit as it is not too far away. This was my first visit for about three years as I knew they were doing a lot of work, finishing the Rock Garden last time we went and then re-plant other gardens and then the big change, that had just been finished, is the Walled Garden. However, we had not been for about three years as I knew they were replanting some parts and finishing the new Rock Garden. It did not disappoint as it was all as beautiful as ever and they have certainly done a lot of work. The Edwardian Garden is still my favourite with the birds chirping as we walked around. I love seeing the birds but there wasn't as many as usual, unless some were inside, keeping warm! I only saw the one budgerigar this time and it was the same colour as our last budgerigar. I had a blue one first, a male, so he talked a little and was adorable. I got upset when he died so after loosing the green female I have been reluctant to get another. It is one of the best gardens we have visited that does not belong to one of the big organisations, like National Trust of England or Scotland. It is run my a trust in the village it sits in. Thank you for viewing Ann. I did feel sorry for that Mallard as he was the only duck we saw and two Moorhens. He did like the fish food and others who got some also fed him a few pellets. We had run out of ours by the time we got half way around the lake but I think Mr Mallard was following in hope we had some left. If the visitor centre had not been closed on our way our, I am soft enough to have bought another back of fish food, just to give his a few🙄 It isn't a long journey for us to have an afternoon out at Burnby Gardens so next time we visit I will have to make sure I keep some food back for him. Thank you Tine. We are lucky that we do not live not too far away so it is an easy day visit by car. On our last visit I found they were having a lot of work to do on a new Rock Garden and some replanting in others the following year, then we had the pandemic as well so I did not get there again until this September. They have done a wonderful job. It is not a large garden compared to the NT gardens I visit but always well looked after. Yes, the fish were even more eager for food that ever and we can usually hand feed them as we always get some fish food from the visitor centre but this time they had a warning up not to handfeed them as before, unless you want to get drenched🙄 The amount of work they have done since our last visit is enormous but I still like the Edwardian Garden best. I love these gardens and so happy that got I got there this September to see all the re-designed gardens and other they have re-planted these last three years. The Rock Garden had nothing there last time I was there and now, what was the Victorian Garden being changed beyond recognition it was quite a surprise! It is now The Walled Garden. It is its first year so it should mature well from now on. The Edwardian Garden is still my favourite with the birds in the aviary twittering away. The fish were very active that day, They can be usually be hand fed but notices were up that day to say not to get too near unless you wanted drenching☔😬 Lovely to see them but they do get plenty of fish food as we and other visitors always buy some from the visitor centre. Yet another garden for us to visit if we find ourselves up north again Julie. You can never shoot enough pampas grass in my opinion, absolutely fantastic. The giraffes looked very interesting too. Did I detect a scene which you played backwards towards the end? Instead of the ripples flowing outwards from the center of the lake, they rippled inwards towards the center 😁. Burnby Hall reminded me of so many different properties here down south, the lake at Sheffield Park, the rock garden at Emmetts, the small bridge at Hyde Hall, a kind of potpourri of all things beautiful.
Just waiting for the weather to get a bit drier for another venture out, it's all a bit wet and miserable down here, not sure if I can afford the leccy to charge up my batteries for the camcorder, it's either that or not eating for a week or two. - only joking!! Hi Steve. Trust you to notice that! I didn't until it was too late 😥 I have done it before but made sure any people were not walking backwards🙄 As usual I forget to take more footage of us leaving a place and should take more images as Hubby is always telling me to take more images, like I used to when I printed best ones off for my photo albums, but ink is so expensive and I also need a new photo printer as this one is hopeless but will have to do for now. Everything is getting a bit pricey and, being a Yorkshire Lass, I do do not like the cost of living we are all having now😞 Like you, we will mange OK but I do feel for those who will struggle.
If you do get to near Pocklington one year, Burnby Hall, Gardens and their small Museum is worth a visit. I haven't been to their museum for many years but I believe they have got that building enlarged recently. Have a pleasant evening and many thanks for viewing. It was a surprise to find the Victorian Garden had been flattened and replanted with lawns and borders and is now called The Walled Garden. I hope it matures well as this was its first summer. My favourite is still the Edwardian Garden that looked wonderful this year. Not as many birds in the aviary as there was a few years ago but lovely to hear them twittering as we walked around. We have been visiting these garden now and then for years as Burnby Hall is easy to get to for a day out. We have to pick the right day as their car park in quite small and being almost in the middle of the village, there is not much parking outside at holiday times.
When I visit gardens like these I come away wishing I had a garden that size even though I know we could never manage one if we did😞 They also have a small plant stall outside the visitor centre and I would have liked to have look at the plants to see if there was a perennial I could come away with but the visitor centre had closed so no luck that day 😥 Have a happy day FF with nice weather. Yes, it is a place we can visit quite often as it is an easy day out for us. With one thing and another I have not been back until this year as on the last visit they had just stared the Rock Garden and then they began re planting some as well as totally altering the Victorian Garden to what is now the new "Walled Garden" ... Not sure I like it as much as when it was the Victorian one that had been there for many years but I suppose it will mature over the years. My favourite is still the Edwardian Garden with the aviary birds chirping away, also they have re-designed that back borders beautifully. Enjoy the weekend and thank you for your lovely comments.
