    French seams would be great for this and you would not lose a lot of space in the tote. Beautiful project. Can't wait to try this.

      @TheWanderingWife 4 роки тому

      Anne Brunner I had the exact same thought. I think raw edges don’t hold up well when you have something with heavy use or frequent washing. French seams on this would be super easy since they’re all straight seams.

      Would I need to make adjustments to the boxed corners if I do the French seam ?

    I just finished making the bag with Hello Kitty material came out very nice. I noticed that 2 1/2 strips would come up a little short so next time I would cut at 2 3/4 to make sure it fits. I used a panel 6 x 8 for the pocket and put a trim on the pocket so it would be shorter than the back took some thinking but came out awesome. Very nice bag.

      Lil Schmidt, I’m shocked that anyone would be so rude! I shouldn’t be, due to the society we live in. But from another quilter, who KNOWS how much work and effort goes into make something like this, you would think they would have more empathy and try to be encouraging and focus on the positive. SHAME ON THEM!

      I didn’t mean to be rude, I was stating my opinion...I love watching shabby fabrics an d I myself have been in the business, I know what goes into those projects and I do support the artists. If the pattern was sold with one bag I probably would have bought the kit...I would buy the pattern but it wasn’t offered..

      Hi Judy! The pattern is provided here in the video and the description link below. It's a pre-printed interfacing from June Tailor that includes the pattern. You can find that here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Quilt-As-You-Go-Shopper-Totes-Interfacing-P79388.aspx
      There are almost 8 yards of fabric in this kit, the interfacing, the pattern, and it makes 3 large totes. It's less than $40 to make each tote! The pre-printed interfacing is a great option so you can use your own stash!
      Thank you so much for watching! - Morgan

      Judy Andersen, I hope you didn’t think I was referring to you. I was trying to respond to a comment made by Lil Schmidt (which now seems to be missing) where she said that other quilters picked apart and pointed out the tiny flaws in her work. I felt that was extremely rude and heartless of others to behave that way.
      Quilting has become BIG business these days and quite expensive. It’s not really the fault of retailers per se, because the manufacturers realize people need an outlet to de-stress and quilting has become very popular. So they feel they can charge high prices for their fabric and supplies, and people who can afford it (and people new to quilting who might not realize it wasn’t always this way) seem to be willing to pay high prices, so it keeps going on.
      I have found a place to buy reasonably priced fabric and tools, which is from Bluprint. If you are an annual member, you also get free shipping. The best time to shop is when they have a really good sale. Yesterday, I was able to purchase solid color rollups for just $9.34 each and fabric for $2.34 a yard on clearance! Beautiful fabric. Thing is, members always get an extra 15% off, but sometimes, like yesterday, there was a coupon for an additional 35% off on top of that and including off already marked down clearance prices. You also get to keep one forever class each month, plus watch as many other classes as you want, while you are a member. If you sign up at the right time, when a promotion is going on, you can also get a free quilt kit, and it can be a very LARGE one. I have made out like a bandit. Also, they have free return shipping for members, in case you change your mind. Sometimes you can get an annual membership for as low as $70 (approximately). That is an outlay, but if you save up for it, it’s a great deal. That’s like buying a class each month for about $6, each, and getting the quilt kit and sales and free shipping as bonuses. I don’t work for them, but I sure benefit. I believe I have earned back my outlay in free shipping alone. It makes me happy that I can purchase beautiful fabric and supplies for such a reasonable price. Today, they offered me 60% off the full price of one item. And if you don’t have to pay for shipping then purchasing only one item at a time is ok. Just thought I’d share for those on a tight budget.

    One thing I would do different is make the handles wider. When those bags are full, they will be heavy….wider handles will not cut into your skin like the narrow ones.?

    I was a little confused by the fact that I only got 1/2 yd. of fabric for the binding in this kit...when the specs indicate that you are supposed to have 1/4 yd per tote - 3/4 yd total. This means I have to piece the binding together to get the 54", whereas If I had gotten the 3/4 yd, (27" x 2 = 54"). I would have had the full 54". Tammy is pretty darn thorough in her videos - and she never mentioned that the binding was pieced together.These are pretty expensive kits to be missing some fabric, if that is, indeed, the case. I was told, when I called, that all the samples have pieced bindings. If anyone else out there has the kit, would you let me know if you have the full 3/4 yd for the bindings?? I expect you don't, but I just feel that I need to know for my peace of mind...TIA

      @ShabbyFabrics  4 роки тому +1

      Hello! As stated in the June Tailor instructions for these shopper totes, "you sew binding strips together to form one long piece of binding." We found that a ½ yard of fabric was sufficient to complete the binding. The less fabric used in kits, the more affordable they are for you! We would be happy to send you a picture of the sample showing where the binding is pieced. Let us know if you have any other questions as we are always happy to help! ~Leah

      @@ShabbyFabrics Thanks - What threw me was that - coincidentally - 3/4 yd is 27" - which, when doubled gives the exact measurement needed for a continuous strip (plus that the specs said 1/4 yd per bag)...appreciate the clarification...
