As far as I know gon only sacrificed a few decades not his whole life, while that level of nen leaving his body all at once in the final attack and him getting caught in it is what killed him, Killua said that the level gon reached is from a few decades of training, not a life time as far as I know.
Kono Dio da! true, but perfect control of nen can also add decades to your life (Netero is old af) so I guess he will just have a normal life span then
Gon is such a good protaganist because of that one line. It's amazing. He starts off someone looking for why his dad wanted to be a hunter instead of staying at home. But instead he became someone who no one wanted him to become. He hated himself at the end. Such an amazing character.
This is quite late in the anime, it's mostly happy go lucky to begin with then starts getting a little darker. It starts bouncing around between the two for a while then it starts getting serious.
Gon was exuding straight DADDY energy in the episodes leading up to that fight with pitou that you saw. Hunter x Hunter is praised for its writing in this arc because of Gon's personality flip in contrast with how the main antagonist of the arc behaves. Not everyone agrees with liking the last arc but I personally loved what Togashi was going for.
When you pick HxH back up, remember to keep a close eye on Gon. Don't dismiss him as the classic harry-go-lucky naive protagonist. Pay attention to everything he says and does from the beginning of the hunter exams till the end. You'll start picking suff up. Like his hypocrisy, double standarts, savageness.
there is a vid on youtube called how gon was crazy and I got to say that I forgot that he did those type of things but I did remenber that he said he that he would kill komugi when she was innocent also I might rewatch hxh but are the most crazy parts in the hunter exam or not
Who’s waiting for the rustage reaction Edit: to answer your question Gon was fighting pitou because pitou didn’t heal kite so gon transformed it to a stronger state but he was a monster and really didn’t care if pitou would die so that what I think he meant by monster leave in the comments if I’m wrong
There are three things all wise men fear, the sea in a storm, the wrath of a gentle man, and an old man in a profession where men die young. Gon represents the second, Netaro the third, and in a way the whole series represents the first. This wrap depicts that so perfectly, mad respect to Daddyphatsnaps.
6:28 when he finds out that his friend was kill by pitou he went into a dark place and gave up his life to get a power nen boost and became heartless person to kill pitou. He almost died due to that the like “all started to follow my father but ended up becoming a monster” is referencing that
His form in that fight is the result of falling down a path of anger, despair, sadness, with revenge and vengeance the goal. And sacrificing everything to achieve it., even if it destroys himself, physically and as a person.
When he says father knows im becoming a monster hes talking about his rediculas strength, theres a lot of foreshadow in the show and it ever shows his father predicting gons actions years before they happened
During gons journey he started off happy go lucky but that started changing right about when hisoka popped him in the mouth and because of his philosiphy on the world. Over time he became more darker. Then when kite died you could clearly see his dark side coming out and he starts going back on his philosphy where his friends were the most important to him and would shame others for not caring about their friends like in the phantom troup when he got mad at them when one of their comrades died and seem liked they didnt care. After all the build up of anger and sadness you saw what happened to pitou
Not sure how far you made it into the series but essentially Gon made a conviction that he would be ok never using Nen again (or live at all) if he could gain the power to defeat the one who killed his friend. The way Nen works made it so that all of the potential Gon's life had was converted into raw power for that moment and after the job was done Gon was hanging on to life by a thread. He literally had to be Ret-conned back into the series by Killua's little sister.
You should continue it, the chimera ant arc was quite amazing. It's the arc where the happy go lucky gon fall into despair and the reason he gained his adult form is becouse he FORCED his body to become like that rapidly, he sacrifices everything for power to defeat neferpitou
His farther didn’t know he was becoming a monster but when he became a hunter (which his farther didn’t want him to be) he changed the strings of fate. Just to clear it up to people keep it up your a sick UA-camr
In the Chimera Ant Arc Gon found someone close To him and his father (A Nen Hunter named Kite) and they got killed (by Neferpitou (The catgirl in the beginning of the video)) and Gon basically threw everything way to just kill Neferpitou since she couldn’t heal Kite since his brain was feed to the Chimera Ant Queen. So Gon makes a Nen Contract to kill Neferpitou and is the reason he became an Adult Gon from it. Also if anyone gets made for spoilers for this comment, the video itself is a spoiler (Also Trekking101 has a top 10 Chimera Ant Arc list he did and this moment (Gon vs Neferpitou) was on the list and goes into more detail)
I love this song, and HxH is my favorite anime and manga since 2004. I would religiously watch the 1999 version whenever it came on the tv, I knew the exact hour it did and i would stop EVERYTHING just to watch. I'm about to turn 24 now btw, so i've been watching this show for 16 years.
Gon IS a psychopathe. Even if he that mean killing hundred of people he will do it to save a person that he like. Neferapitou murdered his "father", kaito, and he just sacrified his own life to kill her. Hisoka knew about this side of gon and that's why he like him so much. Gon don't have a self preservation feeling, even if he die, he don't Care if that mean complete his objective
One of the most amazing things that everyone sleeps on in this song is in the begging he said kilos father hero monster his father was a blank screen because he wasn't there at the time and netro was the hero but the next time he repeated the verse the hero was blank because it was fucked
My Favorite Part of Hunter X Hunter is whenever Gon gets mad when he is mad you know it just got real. The first time that really happens is with Illumi at the end of the Hunter Exams where Gon just broke his arm for what was categorized as Illumi being mean to Killua, and if Illumi didn't retaliate Gon was probably gonna break more bones. When he gets to Pitou and just sits there I love the pure fear Pitou has of him, just because of the bloodlust he has when it comes to Pitou.
This is what makes Hunter X Hunter so great in my opinion. Gon‘s journey into darkness from a happy, innocent child to a lethal and reckless monster. You should definitely pick the anime back up.
There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man." The last one applies to gon he is an innocent kid who decided to get into a lifestyle that is full of death destruction and broken dreams and promises and everyone quickly forgets that gon is a simple kid who keeps getting caught up in things he doesn't understand and keeps coming face to face with the worst this world can offer and he constantly doesn't understand why these things happen and it all crescendos in the end with him not understanding why pitou can't help king and he takes it as a broken promise as he won't help him and he lied and everything that has happened to gone comes rushing in at once and he rages uncontrollably to the point he didn't know what else to do how else to handle whats going on around him
Yea Gon is a happy relaxed character but this part of the anime he is put into a situation that puts him in a dark place to where he has no mercy and is ready to murder anyone who crossed him or his friends
He made a new contract to use future power but it basically would forfeit his ability to use nen. That is why he is asking for forgiveness and he was pissed cuz pitou killed his father's friend and used the carcus a puppet. Also he almost died
So basically Gon's father is very good at his job. He predicted that Gon would become absurdly powerful, and Gon used his life force or something all at once. He killed himself avenging Kite in an explosion of Nen
The reason he kills himself is he makes a contract to get the power he did to beat that girl but the contract said after he was sent to eternal suffering
Just to be brief he was injured severly and could not use his powers anymore and was on the verge of death but Killua did something and saved after a lot of struggle!!! :)
To get the power to become an adult, Gon sacrificed decades of his life and after he knocked out Pitou he was still punching Pitou (can't remember for sure)
theres no point on saying it but pretty much "nen" is part of a person soul which is why gon gave away his soul in order to gain such power which is why he gain such body and his aora change which represented his giving away his life.
Cotton That’s still having a dark side to him. Yes, he was pushed to this side of himself, but the mere fact he was willing to go there means it was always available to him but he never found a reason or desire to tap into it until Pitou. You don’t suddenly just magically develop an evil side.
What happens is a nen ability. Gon gives up his life to get what his max powers would be in the future. And it return it cost his life because he had nothing else to live for.
