Hi there! I watched your video two months ago and I'm back here to thank you. I've being following your tips and my hair is much better now. I was completely lost before. Your video really helped me.
Now I use destilled water daily to refresh my curls, but twice a week I still wash my hair with hard water in the shower, because I'd need too many bottles of destilled water for that. It's hard to get rid of all the plastic here in Germany. Anyways, when I have to use hard water I wash my hair with a chelating shampoo, that removes hard water residue, then I give a final rinse with destilled water. Maybe this comment can also help other people. 😊
    Once again, thanks a million.

You have to get a shower filter. In 1 shower you will see huge difference. Anyone can install. You just need a wrench and only tighten enuff so you can change out filter. 30 bucks or so.

I use ion's hard water shampoo...thinking of using Elucence's moisture acidify instead though. that also is a chelating shampoo for removing hard water build up.

Good tips. I had to eventually start back using aloe vera juice and glycerin together and spray it on my roots and massage it into my scalp. That worked for me for some reason.

Praying the filter I got works for my hair I will also use distilled water for the final rinse. I’ve lost like half my hair and my water is categorized as soft but ever since I moved here my hair and even eyebrows have taken a beating. But hey look around, lots of women out there with thinning hair. Women of all races, it’s got to be something...

Denise Marie Marrero Colón I’m noticing less hair in the drain. But I’m also adding in rice water rinses (I use filtered water) and I just started using a liquid leave in conditioner every day and I’m noticing less breakage. It’s going to take time. But honestly with the way water is treated, everyone should have a filter. Lastly I’ve noticed no hormonal breakouts. My face is much clearer

You could try taking pregnancy vitamins. Its the iron in them will make yor hair grow, zinc, vit bs, also try the LOC/LCO method. Protective styles. That could be not messing with it, less blow/flat iron use. Try a protein treatment or if hair cant take that much, a protein conditioner at least 1x a week. Deep treatment 1x every 4-6 weeks tops. Dont add the protein conditioner after. Its 1 or other. Dry hair screams for protein/moisture.

Thank you so much for this! I really wish I had found this earlier. I've dealt with hard water damage three times now and this time, again, I was taken by surprise until I realized it was the water causing my hair to tangle so much. I did more research because now I've been on a no-product, water only regimen and having to avoid using the water at my current residence makes that really hard to do --- like you said, cowashing and all the manipulation, which I usually do every day with my hair when I rinse or spritz it with water, might seem healthy but I've had to look for other solutions. After all of my searching I never watched any videos on this, only read articles, until I specifically searched 'Hard water hair' on UA-cam today. Thank you again for posting this! Most of the articles out there say hard water doesn't cause significant/irreversible damage, but curly hair can be much more fragile and I know from experience it can definitely cause major issues. I've had to basically stop everything I'm doing and try to figure out a solution to save my hair because it is tangling so badly, I've had to cut knots out regularly and can't seem to return to wearing my wash-n-go. Even after I've used a chelating shampoo. I guess I didn't realize chelating isn't enough. If it's damaged, I really need to 'baby' my hair now and use less manipulation. Thank you again!!! I so appreciate this.

I already wash my hair with distilled water, and it does not repair.
im still in the struggle right not to get my hair to not look like a high-porosity, dull, frizzy, dry mess.
but the biggest difference ive discovered so far, is sleeping with avocado oil in my hair overnight as a "pre-pooing" treatment.
makes it feel far less frizzy without straightening it.

You should get the build up off of your hair using a chelating shampoo. I use Malibu hard water shampoo. Once the build up is off, only use distilled water. A water filter does not soften the water.
