All of these are amazing ideas. As a player I'd love a body swap session. If I ran a groundhog day adventure I'd throw in a few problems for the players to solve so that once they knew how to stop the day repeating they could optimize the day and fix/help as many NPCs as they could, maximizing any rewards.
Awesome suggestions! Start of my most recent campaign my two players thought they were in a groundhog day cycle at first, they have yet to figure out it was a vision. Next they will find information on the cursed item they witnessed in the vision and maybe start to connect the dots. Keep up the good videos, always a great joy watching and getting inspired.
Another great video, and great ideas! You also made me think of Jim Carrey's 1997 hit movie Liar Liar. Maybe the party isn't cursed to speak the truth, but maybe they're cursed to lie, or only tell terrible/cringey jokes.
That last one reminds me of the Slayers. A town they come across in one episode was under a curse where everyone was affected. They all spoke normal sentences, but what they say, and what they meant to say is completely different. Gourry keeps saying to Lina, "I love you", but that entire he was saying something about a bill from a place they ate at.
You could kinda keep death in the soul swapping one. When a player's killed that soul jumps out and goes to another vessel. Maybe a dead enemy (if they were attacked) and the player's body can't really die cause it doesn't have a soul in the proper sense so its just in stasis. Now the Players might be traveling with a Zombie Orc who has the soul of the Tortle Wizard and the unconscious body of the Paladin player. Jsut a thought.
With the drad speaking curse, they could also find a cleric or someone in town that can cast Speak With Dead, which could allow that NPC to help them with 3 questions/the spell itself to help thrm figure out what happened if they're lost. (Could also help them realize that they shouldn't have been able to talk to the surprise-necromancer, if they're not connecting the dots.)
I had an idea similar to jumanji for a one shot . The PCs are everyday school kids all in detention when a monster attacks. Depending on what weapon they grab will decide what character sheet i give them.
I have an adventure built around the Eagles' song Hotel California where my party winds up in an Inn in the Feywild run by a shapeshifted hag with all sorts of creeps in the hotel. all the while the party hears music. but all the encounters are lines from the song, pretty boys she calls friends, the captain, voices calling from far away, "the beast" that can't be stabbed with "steely knives" as a mini0boss, the night man as the BBEG.
I can assure you that my players would care deeply about their characters not being able to taste food or enjoy "the touch of a (wo)man". I'm so lucky! 🥰
Tbh I like all ideas, but I feel a few curses could be done differently. For the „Cursed Treasure of Cortez“ curse for example I would not do exhaustion and permanent undead status at the end because I feel it has a great chance of going bad. 10 days can go by really fast in DnD. Instead I would go with the following. Cursed treasure of Cortez Every time a character would die: For the duration of the curse a permanent negative to attribute. Possible negativ attributes options. -1 to all stats Or -1d4 to the highest attribute Or -1d4 to the attribute that gets decided by a d6 until a max of - 8 (or - 6 depending on how punishing it is supposed to be). In addition stored xp. The group gets a counter to the group for each time the curse prevents the death of a character. For each counter the group gets -5% xp. Once they reach 10 or 15 counters, they have the maximum negativ xp penalty (-50% or -75%). After removing the curse they get all the xp that was withheld as well as getting their attributes restored. As for the „Jumanji“: I would do more of a alter reality then pocket dimension. And if somebody switches planes the altered reality is centred on the cursed players. As a fun mechanic when the switch planes the altering of reality could start to trigger slowly and after a day or so instead to being instant. That way they will have a little surprise. 😂
Oooh, i have those Bard-ish NPC musicians who can speak with undead and other humanoid-ish monsters, but the price is that they attract those monsters and have a bad rep bc of this. (Also they are based on IRL musicians who used to sing about such stuff, and one of them, who's already dead IRL, is going to eventually become a ghost.)
I thought for the groundhog day, that the group got cast into the loop by a wizard right after the king was killed in front of them to try and save him
I don't think I'd go down the exhaustion route. By all means, let them be unkillable - and let them reap the downsides of the undead too: You don't gain levels and turn undead affects. They'll have fun for a few fights and then get rid of it.
Cursed dragon gold. If you manage to successfully steal gold from a dragon's hoard and don't kill the dragon, no matter how far away you take it the dragon can track it and follow.
You know, if you think about it, the Cortes curse is basically just really crappy lichdom. Instead of souls feeding this object and keeping them alive and powerful, the object has to be kept AWAY from this location and they will always remain alive albeit no more powerful.
Wow…I had no idea I was watching you from the very beginning of your UA-cam journey. I appreciate you.
Thank you so much!
Dude this is an INSANELY fun video with awesome ideas I really want to use. You knocked it out of the park with this one dude- thanks so much
Thank you, I really appreciate that!

that is how most video games do time loop stuff, it definitely makes for some really satisfying player moments
Most underrated channel ever. Great video!

Oooo I love that! So good!
Man oh man. Thank you. Probably going to use all of these in the game I run for my nieces and nephew!
Such great ideas! Thank you ❤ I'm new to DMing and your video inspired me a lot :)
Very cool ideas, really got inspired. Thanks!
Another great video, and great ideas!

"Odd Thomas", staring Anton Yelchin might be good inspiration too.

Another great one. Congrats on a year of spills!

Some great ideas here, thanks!

Those are great too! Love the xp idea, that's cool to tie the reward into how difficult the curse was

Thank you so much!
I think I saw you today in Kapa’a but was too shy to say hi #starstruck love your channel!!
Sounds fun! Have you considered to create a one-shot based on any of those ideas?
I’ve always wanted to run a time loop.
I would have the first person they talk to in that town be a necromancer so they don’t suspect anything is wrong

Good stuff
Have you seen the jumunji cartoon where they have adventures in the game world
I haven't! I'll have to check it out
fuck im going to use the cursed pirates one in the pirate campaign im homebrewing. this is great.

Has it been TWENTYTWO years since the live action Scooby Doo...?!
I know, I couldn't believe it either!
HOW?!
Man, I feel old... And I was born in '94, not even that long ago xD
Who's better pirate ? Barbossa or Bill Murray?
Going to have to go with Bill Murray
These ideas are really fantastic.
