No one could EVER replace Gene! He was a pro and genius! He knew exactly how to handle the contestants and the panel. Plus he was a gentleman with a sexy side to him.
Avery and Joyce had the best answers with verboten and victory respectively. The last supper and last picture show woulda been a tough choice for me to make
H/H match update: ... Today's action: It was Charles's "Virgin" in the second tie-breaker that finally gave our champion her second victory. Today's audience match question: "________ Print" (My thoughts: Fine, Finger, Blue, Foot) The celebs: Richard (Finger), Charles (out of), Brett (Blue) The choice: Finger The answers: Blue, Finger, News Once again she chose the three regulars for suggestions. I have a feeling she'll choose Richard again for the H/H. It is Richard again. Richard has matched four of his ten most recent attempts. Looking a little further back, he's matched 11 of his 36 most recent attempts (30.6%). Today's H/H question: "The Last _______ " (Supper. Should be an easy match today. "Of the Mohicans" is too long.) Richard finishes his answer in about three seconds flat. Gene turns to the contestant and says (in part) "...if your ESP is as good as it was last time..." ("Last time"? Hmmm.) The contestant confidently answers "Time." It sounds like she had that answer before Gene's unconscious little suggestion there. The audience groans a bit. I think she has a chance, but I still like my answer a lot better. The contestant suddenly thinks of an answer she likes better: "The Last Picture Show." Hmm. It seems a bit too long, but maybe... Richard had my answer: "Supper." No match today. Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Richard - 41.0% (206 wins in 503 attempts). Brett - 40.9% (27 wins in 66 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 828, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
The new show is okay but it’s too obviously scripted and edited, no casual feel like before. Also the contestants are never meek and nervous enough which makes them less relatable lol
Aww, they're gonna have to have her back after that "Tarzan" question. Cheetah is a Chimpanzee, but they can never decide whether that's a member of the Ape family, or Gorillas, or what. Usually, to avoid confusion, they would have matched that.
Some contestant said His Horse, because she didn't know the Lone Rangers horses name. One person said Silver, and they considered that a match. But by their logic, Silver could be like Silver jewelry. Same premise here. If they accepted Silver, then they should accept an apes name.
Agree with the latter, seems the judge didn't know Cheeta was a chimp character, and technically chimps are in the ape family. They probably thought they were talking about a regular cheetah. But for the first it's Consumer Reports, which tests products, so the gag was testing toilets, not just taking a whizz.
At last - we've found SOMEONE who actually LIKES Alec Baldwin. Wasn't he actually recorded calling his (only) daughter a pig? - for not promptly returning his phone message? How many videos are there of him assaulting photographer(s)?
@@patcrites5274 Nice try ?? What do you mean nice try?? Listen here goofy, I watched this show at the time I made this comment for 10 hours straight. I drove from Georgia to Cincinnati Ohio. You are completely wrong !! Most of his answers did NOT match at all. Plus again like I said , his answers were bad . Some of his answers were not even close to what any one would even say. Some of his answers didn't even make since !! Nice try that goofy !!
I see you don't watch the shows good at at all, sorry but my comment still stands about Avery being a good player & usally matches the constants, but nice try again
one of tv's greatest gameshow.
Best ever!
Avery could definitely have played Mario if Mario was around in the 70's
My thoughts exactly!
"It's-a-me, Averio! Woo-hoo!"
It wouldn't surprise me if he gave the creator the idea for the character.
No one could EVER replace Gene! He was a pro and genius! He knew exactly how to handle the contestants and the panel. Plus he was a gentleman with a sexy side to him.
He was a pervert and an egotistical maniac.
And he NEVER won an Emmy for MG...(neither did the show)...
YES EXACTLY!
Gene, the nice old lady contestant, and everyone on the panel except Joyce are now gone.
I remember being 12 and watching this on GSN or Nick at night. This was my favorite show. Right up there with the Gong Show.
To show you how old I am, I was about your age when the show ORIGINALLY aired. = [
Nathan H Have you seen the new Gong Show with Mike Myers? It's funny.
Gong show!
Wait, Match Game aired on Nick at Night? Is that true?
I always liked Nancy Kulp as Jane Hathaway. Does her role as Jane seem a lot like her ?
Joyce is the only 1 left. sad may they all RIP they were all wonderful
Mildred played the game very well.
Avery and Joyce had the best answers with verboten and victory respectively. The last supper and last picture show woulda been a tough choice for me to make
I like Avery's laugh.
There was no rubric or coherent rules for judging answers, so judging was inconsistent.
Oooo, Richard D. got jokes! My favorite: "his and hearse...You want gems, go to Africa." Nice. He's back.
The judge was ridiculous. Both of the first contestants' answers should have been allowed.

Just shows that Ira was a horrible judge
On some shooting days Ira had approval ratings of zero
One of the worst episodes that I watched, was the School Riot episode. If you have not watched it you should.
Actually he was the pits
I love watching these. I didn't like the new show with Alec Baldwin. Gene Rayburn was perfect!

@@leftwingrobinhood umm noooo, it WAS'T. This show is bad enough for language but NOTHING compared to the other one
Joyce. Sounds like. She’s. Two 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄😠😠🤮🤮
It's as if she got too much attention as a child and kept using the little girl voice to keep getting it. Not cute.
Nancy Kulp looks like a gym teacher I had in elementary school and middle school.
Same here. Many lesbians look like gym teachers.
Me too
@@paulk9985 I KNEW someone had to bring that up at some point before she left (ya couldn't just let it go, could ya)
In another episode the contestant said "nun" as the answer. One of the panel said "Mother Theresa" and they accepted it. The are not consistent.
Ya gotta love Joyce ... LoL ... Kangaroo, darn she was beautiful
And she spelled it kangeroo

Gene sure loves him some scoreless ties!
… and some ugly ones, too.
Theres is a new buzzer.
Nobody said, "Fine print" but that was the first thing I thought of.
Mildred was a great contestant
thank you for another great episode.
Gene said, "If your ESP is as good as it was LAST TIME then..." Last time was only natural.
Aww Bring back Mildred 🥰
Joyce Bulifant was so cute. I could never decide who was cuter, her or Elaine Joyce.
You do know she was in "Airplane!" right?
Anything with a Joyce was a Joy.
I used to love this show, but I had forgotten how awful some of the questions were
So quit watching. The rest of us love it.
14:42 Best offer Gene's had all night.
Odd foreshadowing as Mrs. Allred would be in a hearse herself just 19 months after this episode aired. Dead at 69
How on earth do you know that? Were you her neighbor or something?
Google is ur friend her son just died.

@gaggles5 Tarzan's chimpanzee companion named "Cheeta".

That was in the movies. In the Tarzan novels he was a spider monkey named Nkima.

I am damn surprised the Alec Baldwin version didn't last long!

No doubt that his outspoken liberal political views alienated half the audience.

I hate Avery tried to be a comedian instead of matching the contestant.
And yet Avery"s answers usually matches the contestants, but nice try though
