He still standing he's apologetic he shows Grace he has had trials and tribulations as well as we all have I applaud him for moving forward that's all anyone can do God bless him and his family
I imagine him to be a very moody person and difficult to live with . Saw him in concert a few years back never cracked a smile once or thanked the audience for coming to see him which of course is the reason he's so stinking rich .
Randy Rhoads was the guitarist... Started his own bad, that's still going on today, in his teens. Started a total different style... Got killed while playing with The Blizzard of Ozz and only had nicotine in his system... No drugs, no alcohol, I mean- this guy didn't even cuss. Randy Rhoads ! Randy Rhoads ! Randy Rhoads ! Randy Rhoads ! Randy Rhoads ! Randy Rhoads ! Randy Rhoads ! Randy Rhoads ! Randy Rhoads !
the Gerhard Richter painting in the background was sold with one other he owned in 2012 and 2013 for a combined $55.2 million! he bought it originally for $1.9million... nice investment.
Bracing, intelligent honesty about living in a state of checked-out numbness. Amazing how liquor underlies every story: authorities chant that everyone should avoid the horrors of drugs, but meanwhile we are drowning in drunks who can just buy their drug at a hundred places. The recent documentary about The Doors showed that Morrison was a completely gonzo drunk who was barely functional most of the time.
Looking for a recent interview of Clapton on Larry King...probably within the last five years. Any idea where I'd find that. You Tube has limited LK interviews available.
Yeah, I've wondered about that too. SRV was so humble in addition to being "the blackest white guy I know!" (BB King) He is IMO one of the finest players I've ever had the pleasure of watching and hearing. Nothing big time "showman," just down and dirty incredible playing, and he's clearly enjoying it. It's interesting to see them sharing a stage with so many Blues Greats. It's the only time I've ever seen EC look less than confident. SRV was always somewhat in awe of his mentors even when they tried to bring him out. It's clear he had massive respect for them. I truly miss him and wonder what could have been.
From Wikiquote: I don't think anyone has commanded my respect more, to this day. The first time I heard Stevie Ray, I thought, "Whoever this is, he is going to shake the world." I was in my car and I remember thinking, I have to find out, before the day is over, who that guitar player is. That doesn't happen to me very often, that I get that way about listening to music. I mean, about three or four times in my life I've felt that way, in a car, listening to the radio, where I've stopped the car, pulled over, listened, and thought, I've got to find out before the end of the day, not, you know, sooner or later, but I have to know NOW who that is. ...and I remember being fascinated by the fact that he never, ever seemed to be...lost in any way...It was as though he never took a breather...or took a pause to think where he was gonna go next, it just flowed out of him. It's going to be a long time before anyone that brilliant will come along again. I didn't get to see or hear Stevie play near often enough, but every time I did I got chills and knew I was in the presence of greatness. He seemed to be an open channel and music just flowed through him. It never seemed to dry up. I have to tell this story: We played on the same bill on his last two gigs. On the first night, I watched his set for about half an hour and then I had to leave because I couldn't handle it!. I knew enough to know that his playing was just going to get better and better. His set had started, he was like two or three songs in, and I suddenly got this flash that I'd experienced before so many times whenever I'd seen him play, which was that he was like a channel. One of the purest channels I've ever seen, where everything he sang and played flowed straight down from heaven. Almost like one of those mystic Sufi guys with one finger pointing up and one finger down. That's what it was like to listen to. And I had to leave just to preserve some kind of sanity or confidence in myself. He had an huge respect for Stevie.
That poor lady was treated like dirt by both George and Eric and she was by all accounts a great person and wife. I really hope Pattie has found happiness.
Only Clapton I don't care for is his weird long-haired late 80s Clapton. He has lots of good stuff aside from Cream. Derek and the Dominos if you like country blues, Blind Faith was really cool, his 70's solo career was awesome to me, and I like all the traditional blues work he's done the past couple decades. He is my God.
Oh I can tickle a guit fiddle like nobodies business. Clapton is an influence, I just prefer his Cream days. I've been really into a guitarist called Madjid Fahem. Rockin flamenco. You might like it.
you didn't answer my question. You are so knowledgeable, how many flats are there in Eb. You know so much about melody then answer the question. If you know so much and have accomplished as much as Mr. Clapton, then lets see it.
jb I completely agree with you. I almost cringe when I hear him trying to sing the blues. Give me the real stuff, please, not an old white man from England.
He was good in CREAM. His output has been patchy at times but now and then he plays like no-one else on earth...just amazing. His personal struggles have helped him reach a modern audience, e.g. Layla, Tears in Heaven
Great music. Lousy on the inside. Nothing like a philosophizing ex-addict who shared his wife with George and had a racist rant onstage. Otherwise an artist.
Absolutely one of the BEST guitarist and singer songwriter love love him such a beautiful honest soul🙏💙
Don't care what anyone says about Clapton and I've read all the comments below. He's still THE MAN as far as I'm concerned.
He kicked it...the habit. And for that alone he should be respected. Not many of his friends did. He was drunk most of the time.
🥀He may had bad times back in the day but he's truly a powerful artist I believe 🥀☝️🥀
Eric is such a good soul, he's truly is the Rock & Roll God.
He still standing he's apologetic he shows Grace he has had trials and tribulations as well as we all have I applaud him for moving forward that's all anyone can do God bless him and his family
He really was just so great looking. So good Eric.
its all gone..and the man still alive..more power
I imagine him to be a very moody person and difficult to live with . Saw him in concert a few years back never cracked a smile once or thanked the audience for coming to see him which of course is the reason he's so stinking rich .
Everyone has bad days. From my experience he was very warm and cheerful.
My favorite guitarist followed his career since The Cream
Eric has been in my life, since Cream, in grade school. I’m so glad he has survived. He’s normally forthright and blunt when he sits for an interview.
Thanks for posting this....I have been looking for it for ages...
Yea He and Buddy Guy are the MAN!!
Thanks for uploading!!! Looking forward to seeing part 2!
Thanks so much for uploading this!
Eric the love of my life😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks, Paj!
Great guitarist but I really wince at hearing just how messed up he was all the time.
Check out Clapton's 2007 autobiography, it's a great read.
Brilliant. Thanks for uploading
I've always thought of Hendrix, Page, and Clapton as the 3 best guitarists. Not sure if my opinion can change on that.
It can page and Clapton are no where near beck and Gallagher
EricClapton🎸💤- I 💯💜💞💙💜#U Even More #NOW! 💞💯💙👠🌹💋🙆

Rhandy is an insperation to all guitarists. I bet he liked Eric though.
Skrelnick222 Kewl reply.... Even Hendrix liked him... ';-)
Randy Rhoads did in fact drink, and did cuss in an interview.
Some of us just refer to Eric as Doctor Clapton.

Great Interview

He's still the best Blues Rock guitarist ever
No he's not
Hell no. Did you even ever listened to real blues? Try that.

why he never talk about SRV?

@@lofilipswow... is this real ?
@@bucurflorin3328 yeah man and I'm not surprised about that. Clapton is an humble and honest guy and he would have never denied that Stevie was magic.
He always talked about SRV...look for articles or radio interviews!
Please post the next interview parts. I've never seen this one.
Could anyone tell me where a video from the beginning is or just send me a link with the moment where he‘s fishing… thanks
So proud that your my Cousin , sending hugs Ricky xx
Wow!
No inclination to disengage ! just go for it ! , i like that....i like that alot !
Robin Trower another Great British Guitar Hero but Know Drugs or Drinks .
Where is that 1987 clip from!?
The south bank show. It should come up on youtube if you search " Eric Clapton BBC Documentary " ua-cam.com/video/J8WKyrQyl7c/v-deo.html
Guess, sex , drugs, and drink catch u on you !!!
Sorry, Part 2 link is where?
He definitely had an addictive personality. He lost a very nice wife because of it.
jo wright George treated Pattie like shit, too. Harrison gave Clapton permission to take her.
jo wright say what u like about the age difference but they been happily married for nearly 18 years and have 3 kids so something must be there
jo wright Very well put

I prefer the Wheels of Fire version of Crossroads.

Who’s the interviewer?
nsc217
It's Melvin Bragg.
its an interview :P
just saying...
He is high and drunk singing the Badge...now tell me does that look cool? Not in my eyes.
Cream! The rest, never quite does it for me. Kinda sappy, like john mayer. White, lame, blues. Hell of a guitar player though. Sparks of brilliance.
Heaven forbid a guitarist change his style over time.
True. There is plenty of insiped music in this world and Clapton really was a good musician.
Let's see how good you are then lad
Oh I can tickle a guit fiddle like nobodies business. Clapton is an influence, I just prefer his Cream days. I've been really into a guitarist called Madjid Fahem. Rockin flamenco. You might like it.
Good musician but not at all attractive! G.Harrison was much better
Ah George..hasn't he been George Harrison he could be a male model!
@5;35 drunk
Pity about the racist views.
Clapton can't even follow a melody. One minute 30 seconds into this shit proves it. Clapton was DONE as soon as Cream was done.
really? How many flats in the key of Eb?
two
you didn't answer my question. You are so knowledgeable, how many flats are there in Eb. You know so much about melody then answer the question. If you know so much and have accomplished as much as Mr. Clapton, then lets see it.
Ever hear the old joke " Whats coffee and Clapton got in common? They are both crap without Cream"
Unless you're also a three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, shut up.
CLAPTON=OVERRATED

I thought so too until I listened to the Bluesbreakers album.
Boring!
Racist?

We're all lousy on the inside, just in different ways.
