    Ultimate tackle and it's many variations and interactions are one of those things that feel very tekken to me; There are a lot of things you can do with it, yet the game pretends it doesn't exist at all. I wish there was a "neutral moves" command section or something in game, as a lot of important mechanics can be hidden to the newer players, this also includes get up options, even "back to the wall" moves. Though admittedly, this also gives it an old school mysterious charm where half the moves are discovered by players and from gaming magazines.

      I was a fan of King for a couple years and only started playing Tekken 7 a month or two ago, and as soon as I started doing ultimate tackles I loved the move. It is definitively one of the most interactive throws and kind of puts to shame the 1+3 and 2+4 throws for doing so much with so little input. It also makes Marduk's tackle look silly when with one or two buttons he does a whole series of moves. With the ultimate tackle (like King's) however, every single part and motion is tied to a button, which makes pulling a series of three punches and an arm twist to end it incredibly satisfying

      Sadly this is not a very useful move since you can escape it in several ways, the only time when it works is basically on ppl who has no idea on how to escape from it

    In the rare case of being tackled from behind, the tackle can't be escaped or reversed and the only possible follow-up are punches (no arm breaker or leg cross hold). The punches can still be blocked, but the inputs to do so are reversed: a left punch is blocked with 1 and a right punch is blocked with 2. This escape gives a completely different animation.
    In a normal (front-on) tackle, if the defending player mashes 1+2, this will escape both grabs, but it leaves them vulnerable to both left and right punches, so it's still a mix-up. Likewise, 1+2,1,1,1,1 will defend against the leg cross hold and the right punch but leave them vulnerable to the arm breaker and the left punch, while 1+2,2,2,2,2 will defend against the arm breaker and the left punch but leave them vulnerable to the leg cross hold and the right punch. So, it will always be a case of defending against two options and being vulnerable to two options.
    That gets a bit more interesting with Paul and Dragunov, who can defend against three options at once (because they have a right punch reversal: 1,1,2). For them, 5x 1+2 leaves them vulnerable to only the left punch, and 1+2,1+2,2,2,2 leaves them vulnerable to only the leg cross hold (but this is not well-known even by Paul and Dragunov players).

    You forget to mention that doing leg cross hold after jabs is more stricter if done without jabs.
    Also some characters reversal to jabs(e.g. Nina)

    I feel like most people don't realize that you can only break on the first and last punches of a tackle. I see people all the time saying talking as if you can break on any of them, even from some higher level players.

    I never knew you could reverse these throws with certain characters, so basically just mash 1+2 then? It would be cool if the proper input was required though.

    I was messing around with king in practice and found you can do kings df1+3 or his df2+4 throws from full crouch if you do hcbf 1+3 or 2+4 . It's a little tricky for me though but it looks really cool after wave dashing.

  • @alessandroalbarello7223

    Why exactly do you have to input the 1+2 so many times to counter the throws? I saw on a UA-cam video that the real reason is both King and the opponent are mashing 1+2 (King for getting his arm lock/leg twist and the opponent for getting out of it) is that one of the two can outmash the other. For example, even if the enemy guesses that I'm going for a tackle throw, and uses the 1+2 break, I can still outmash them with 1+2 and even though their guess was right, I still get my tackle throw.
    Not sure if this is accurate but it could explain why you need to spam 1+2 instead of just pressing it once to break

    • @Hunt4iSW
      @Hunt4iSW  5 років тому +4

      No, the break is simply 1+2 x5. There exists no outmashing in Tekken.

  • @Alpdude

    You didn't mention the unique punch reversal for at least Paul and Dragunov? When the opponent starts with a right handed punch you can do an input to automatically reverse it into an armbar? Think the input was 1,1,2, 1+2,1+2,1+2 also works. Also a thing to note, its timing is different than blocking the first punch. You got to input the 1,1,2 or 1+2,1+2,1+2 as you're falling to the ground, so this overrides the 1+2 just frame flip over reversal. Also, unlike the armbar reversal this does 30 damage. Think it's the least known ultimate tackle tech. I tried a handful of characters and only got it to work playing as Paul or Dragunov. Didn't work as Nina or King, even.

    • @EternalSilverDragon
      @EternalSilverDragon 5 років тому +1

      You are correct, this is only for Paul and Drag. With good timing, the final 2 input in the 1,1,2 will block a left punch, and a right punch will still be reversed. Also with good timing 1+2,1+2,2,2,2 will block a left punch, reverse a right punch and escape an arm breaker, and it also has a chance of reversing the tackle in the first place. I don't even think many Paul or Drag players know about this. Even watching Knee play as Paul, his tackle gets reversed and then he tries to guess his opponent's punch when he doesn't need to guess.

    • @Alpdude

      @@EternalSilverDragon That's some good info, thanks man. Didn't know they could mitigate the mixup using that reversal.

    And here I thought leg hold and armbar was a mixup what a bummer guess gotta remove my tackle setup now XD

    • @EternalSilverDragon
      @EternalSilverDragon 5 років тому

      It's a mix-up with the punches, but the defending player gets to choose. If they mash 1+2, you can stick with punches. If they do 1+2,2,2,2,2, you can do right punches or the leg cross hold. If they do 1+2,1,1,1,1, you can do left punches or the arm breaker. They can always defend against two options at a time, leaving you with two options that will work.
