It was just nice to have a place to go to for planning birthday parties. It’s just a bummer! I didn’t go much either but it was always there. RIP Party City ❤
I use to go to Party City for Halloween costumes but then it just got worse and worse every year so maybe 2 years ago, I just stopped going there and only go to Spirit. My mom always favored Party Fair in Freehold, NJ for birthday goodies which still DOES exist!
Hi Ray. I have to be brutally honest and say I've never been to Party City or any of the Spirit Stores. As a kid, we never had "goodie bags" when we were attending someone's birthday party. I grew up in Idaho, and for the life of me, I think we only got gifts for our birthdays. I remember the loose candy as being called "penny candy." All these things that I remember as a child growing up are all but a fond memory. I'm happy that I finally got to see inside of this store. Thank you Ray for sharing and enjoy your evening. BTW I'll be home for New Year's. I haven't been to a New Years Eve party in quite sometime. You my friend please have a wonderful New Year🍾🥂🎆🎇🎉🎊
probably one of the unique recordings of this store chain. For all to find, as a memory for someone or for many. Although im from Belgium it was nice to see anyway We have stores like this in Europe to, they called "euro store"
My friend worked for them and the way they were treating their employees the past few months was awful, sudden layoffs and basically not telling any of them what was going down. My friend heard from Reddit that bankruptcy was declared before hearing from their actual job :\ I did grow up going to Party City every halloween for costumes and it was always fun. Shame they're going out of business I feel bad for all the other employees that were screwed over by the higher ups
I'm bummed that more brick and mortar stores are closing but I didn't really have an attachment to Party City, tbh. You should have bought that fringe cowboy hat and paired it up with a matching leather jacket...I could see you rocking that, lol.
Actually I am not surprised that Party City is closing its doors. That place has not been too busy or years. I think it only was busy was during the Holidays and especially with Halloween with the costumes. Also Yes, I think Spirit Halloween definitely had something to do with it. I was in that store a few times but I know twice to get a Halloween Costume for a party.
Growing up, we used party city as a Halloween store. And also as a place to get discounted candy. Funny story the P in the logo never lit up properly due to one of the bulbs, not working so it would light up at night as “farty city” 😂.
I do see a lot of parents making like goodie bags for their kids' classmates for Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, birthdays, etc, and that is mostly little trinkets like those. And also, kids are always gonna have birthday parties, so I do think theres a market for that. Just tnat Walmart and dollar stores took it

I guess it was just not enough to keep it going

Ray happy new year to you and your family and it sad to see party city closes

Yeah Spirit really supplanted them as the go-to for Halloween. I guess there's just not enough to keep it going year round
You can never outgrow Jurassic Park! No way. Great explore Ray! Sorry to see it go. 😊😊😊

It is really scummy what they did to their employees

Maybe it will still be there if I go back...

I don't see how it can survive as a year round business when it's so Holiday focused, plus competing with every other retailer doing holiday stuff

And Big Lots RIP
for some reason the party city's are staying up in Canada for now.

now why would a party store shut down? are people not having parties anymore?
I don't think they are actually
