This is why I am going to buy another Plexi style amp. Those ribbon cables are always prone to shorting and burning up.... Too much in the circuit..... Thanks for this reminder video dude!!
It sucks to flip the board lol good job there! Got a noob question... how do you discharge those caps? They legs are on the other side of the board so, I wonder how to discharge those...
Well basically we measure and re-measure by voltmeter first to make sure they've all discharged, and the just to make sure we have a shorting plug between them positive and negative terminals and start poking around from there. Thanks for stopping by and hang around! Cheers!
hello,I have been a Mesa user since decades.i had a Mk4b for over 20 years and now a Mk 5 90w combo that I use only in the studio. The amp never moves.I also run it mostly tweed and 10 watts mode.I was wondering if running it at ten watts all the time can damage it? What can happen never running it at 90?Nothing I guess..it runs really fine and sounds good with an extension cab for a bigger low volume sound. Of course when I see a video like this one, it is a bit scary.I thought of just buying a Fender Deluxe Reverb but the good ones.
Greetings Robert, running the MkV in its 10 Watt mode surely wouldn't damage it, since that 10 Watts is probably all the volume you need for your playing. What scary is in our opinion, the complicated electronic switching arrangements that may fail at anytime; like a ticking timebomb if you will. That DR should be a safe replacement alternative anyways haha Cheers and thanks for stopping by!
