Read the book and saw the movie 40+ years ago and was moved. But now as a senior watching and listening to this masterpiece brings tears to my eyes. I listen to it every night before falling asleep. What amazes me is that Neil Diamond wrote this score and lyrics at a relatively young age. In my mind, he is a musical genius, love all his music, it has so much "soul".
I never had a chance to see the movie, much less read the book. The songs and music by Neil Diamond, I listen to them over and over. He is the poet! Listening to "JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL" now makes me want to see the movie even more ...

This extraordinary three part series touched my spirit in the deepest and most profound manner; thank you for adding such abiding beauty to the world! We have no real idea of just how far reaching the acts we do in the world are and how they can touch and shift the lives of others. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I still remember the day when my sister and I saw this movie in the theater. Didn't really understand it until I bought the album and did some reading. Right now it's bringing back only GREAT memories! I still have this original album. Sing on Neil!!! :)
My parents and friends saw the movie in the theater. One guy fell a sleep throughout the movie. My parents enjoyed it. I was about 11 or 12 then. I bought the soundtrack and always loved it. I guess in the late 80's or early 90's bought the VHS copy of the movie. Yes I see how some could be bored. But me I loved the whole thing. The music and scenery was beautiful. I lost that VHS tape but still had the record. About 5 years found 2 sealed original copies of the album and replaced the my first copy. I still play it. Last week I bought a DVD copy of the movie and look forward to watching real soon. I own every vinyl record of Neil Diamonds.

Had to do a book report over summer vacation 6th grade 1978. Hated to read, but loved birds. My mom helped me read the book which I still have. page’s falling out spin broken. It has been read many times since then. Saw my first Neil Diamond concert in 1980 and have been hooked ever since that day . Seen him in concert too many times to count & loved every second of every one. Love birds had them my entire life., and study them to this day 8/2020. Have read all of Richard Bach’s books. Brings back lots of great memories..

He is on a journey much like all of out experiences...revealing, sometimes frightening...but always a lesson in life and the building of our characters...revealing the person underneath the walls we all built up.

I was barely a teen when I seen this in the theatre in Prince Rupert…I still remember never seeing seagulls the same…there are parallels to life and connection to culture…the sense of belonging and the need to be different…I love how Neil Diamond made the music so perfect for the story of johnathan Livingston seagull…this movie should be released to the public to show its beautiful nature and connection to humanity and abilities…

I saw this film in an Oakland, Calif. Theater, had taken my then 5 to son with me it was absolutely amazing great music and the photos songs are with me to things day! This is to me an analogy of what and how man evolves, using the seagull as the people and how have limited their progress or lack of it is my interpretation of it...I own the album, got it on cd..dream??? We wait...? Who are we to need?? Love this intense exploration of who we are... thank you Niel Diamond for your participation on this great project!!

This film was so moving with a fantastic sound track, I now love seagulls and every time I see one it reminds me of JL.

This is one of the reasons I feed the seagulls at the end of the boating season on my local inland lake...one of them might be "him"...watching!
