Thank you man! Rlly helped me out
i had this issue when I was playing basketball at school once. My knee just snapped out of nowhere and I kept telling my dad that I was feeling pain below my patella. He didnt really take much action but I wanted to end the mystery of what actually happened to my knee so I kept searching and it took me 1 year which is now to find out that this is what I had the video really help me understand why I had this weird bump below my kneecap
glad it can help!
I recently had grade 3 high ankle sprain which sidelined me for the past 5 weeks and as the ankle was heeling slowly, I started noticing pain below the patellar tendon & on the shin when shooting around. Could not figure out what it was until now. Could be because my posterior chain isn't properly strengthened to balance the load.
Great video!
Sorry to hear that. Glad we could provide some valuable information to you! Let us know if there is any topics you'd like us to cover
I went to the doctor for the knee pain and bump at 13 and they said it was this, it has been 4 years now since it started, it is no longer on my right but it is still on the left, this video has helped a lot though, thatnk you.
Glad to hear it was helpful! Continue to rehab and manage it, you'll grow out of it usually when your out of your teenage years!
26 have been dealing with pain issues since I was 13. Even actively working out ( 4-5 days a week, 2-3 hours a day, for multiple years) It hasn’t faded. I ice every morning after I finish my workout and take 4 ibuprofen every day. Wondering if there’s any specific workout that can help reduce pain or strengthen the muscle to reduce pain.
Edit: active basketball player as well, 3-5 days a week.
Sorry to hear that you've been dealing with that pain. Sounds like you could be dealing with more jumper's knee (patellar tendinopathy). Check out our videos on Jumper's Knee on our channel; we will be coming out with some exercises on our channel. Also, we have an 8-week jumper's knee rehab program that you can go through!
36 here. Used to do a lot of soccer in my youth. I have this hard bony lump below my right knee, but there is absolutely no pain at all. I only noticed it because I've been wearing shorts to the gym and the lump can be seen in the mirrors
Thanks for sharing! I had osgood schlatters disease as well growing up, and I have pain free bumps on both my knees as well
Well I’m 26 and I thought I had jumpers knee but I seen your UA-cam clip saying that if it’s not right under the knee then it’s osgood. My painful bump is like at the top of the shin and the bottom of the knee cap. Like there’s a space between the kneecap and the painful bump . I’ve been stretching my quads and around the bump basically to relieve stress.
Hi. With your age, you are likely dealing more with jumpers' knee rather than osgood schlatters' disease. With jumpers' knee you can have irritation at that tibial tuberosity (bump where osgood schlatters' disease affects).
We have videos on our channel that compare the two that we suggest you watch. Let us know if you have any questions!
I'm 36 and still have pain in both legs on the bumps below my kneecap and it is really limiting
Very common to still have those bumps below the knee cap if you had Osgood Schlatters' Disease growing up. You could be dealing with patellar tendinopathy/Jumper's knee. Check out our Jumper's knee videos on our channel!
I have this for 6 years now it happened when i was 10 i had pain since i played basketball trough the pain beacuse i didn't know what it was. From what i know it will stop when i stop growing but im not sure.
Im 23 and just got diagnosed with this
Thanks for reaching out sometimes what happens is that osgood schlatter leads to jumpers knee. You might be dealing with jumpers knee
21 and i have this painful feeling when im going to sit and stand, i have this both in my knees does it mean im still growing? Hoping for ur respond thanks!
Hey, thanks for sharing your story. Potentially still growing, but you may be dealing with something other than osgood schlatters disease based on your age. We suggest you get properly evaluated by your local physical therapist or us to determine what's actually going on and how to get better. Hope that helps!
My son is 12 and he has that pain.. should I suggest him to rest while we stretch his muscles and how long you think he should rest?
Hi, thanks for reaching out and sharing. We suggest he work with a rehab specialist to balance out any impairments and re-train his movement patterns as he rests. Let us know if you have further questions, we also have an online rehab management program if you're interested thebasketballdoctors.com/osgood-schlatters-disease-management-program/
I’m 16 and I think I have this. I feel it on the bump really tender. Do I have osgood?
yea thats osgood schlatter! did you grow recently?
I was playing basketball the other day and woke up with this painful bump on my right knee and i have no idea what todo😭😭😭
it could have been that you flared it up!
hey i have had osgood for like a very long time now probably since i was like 12 years old and now im 18 should i go se a physio to see if it is still affecting me even though im a symptomatic?
If you don't have symptoms, there's really no need to see a Physio. If its giving you problems, then go see a Physio
@@TheBasketballDoctors thanks
I have this both in my left and right... How to treat this?

I'm very interested but I don't have the money to pay for it. I'm from Philippines and I'm broke

I had this since i was around 15 till now. But i don't feel pain, it's just the bone knob below my knee
Yea there will be a bump but it shouldnt be painful now.
@@TheBasketballDoctors
Thanks, but what should i do to make it go away. I'm 32 now
@@chigozieekperechukwu8138 it might be patellar tendinopathy. Check out our 8 week jumpers knee online rehab program. thebasketballdoctors.com/jumpers-knee-program/
@@chigozieekperechukwu8138 u can’t make it go away
Same for me. I'm 36 now. It won't go away. It's there forever and as long as there is no pain there is nothing to worry about.
Ive had it for 4-5 years, i can sure say its a lot better now than it was the first 2 years, but its still to the point where it gets me frustrated, because everybody at my age starts to dunk (im 16), but then theres me who is 6ft 3 and still cant dunk because of knee pain
Thanks for sharing your story, and sorry to hear that you're doing with it. Pain will diminish your muscles ability to develop force for strength and power, such as jumping. We have an online program to help with osgood schlatters disease, as well as, videos on our channel that could benefit you. Best of luck!
28 with tough pain often only in one leg hoping to find help here
Hey, thanks for reaching out. With your age and with when you feel it, you may be dealing with more a patellar/quadriceps tendon issue.
@@TheBasketballDoctors yeah i have a large lump that is osgood schlatter but could see muscle instability being something that isnt' helping. squats and general load bearing causes pain in the schlatter location
Im 22 and been dealing with it since I was 14
Sorry to hear about your pain! Usually what happens is that you turn from Osgood Schlatters to jumpers knee. So you might be dealing with that
I'm 18 and I still have pain
same think i have 19 and have pain in a tibial
Sorry to hear that. You could still be growing (growth plates haven't fully closed yet) or you may be dealing with Jumper's knee (patellar tendinopathy)
Still have my bumps and I'm 37. Not as painful as they used to be but I still can't kneel on my left knee. And my Track and Cross Country buds from High School still have there's as well; we didn't stretch much as a team.
@@Jon.A.Scholt sorry to hear that but what we have noticed is that a lot of people develop jumpers knee following osgood schlatters when they get older so that is what you might be dealing with.
I had got this after my 20 and I am 22 now still it is not cured
I would say its more patellar tendinopathy than osgood schlatter.
@@TheBasketballDoctors but I feel so pain while sitting for a long time as in movie theater when bent my knee for long time and what can I do for it??
@@dipjyotithakur8030 that sounds more like patellofemoral pain syndrome!
@@TheBasketballDoctors how can I get cured from this pain
@@dipjyotithakur8030 We just released a video on patellofemoral pain syndrome and will be releasing an early stage rehab video soon! Take a look at that first video first to learn more about it
