What do you get when you add a pound of Queen, 16 ounces of ELO, two cups of SWEET, a full cup of Gary Wright, a pinch of Sid & Marty Krofft, a teaspoon of the partridge family, and ALL things 1970's? You get The Lickerish Quartet! It took me 2 listens to have my Ahh Ha moment, now i cant stop listening. Pull out your tie dye shirts, bell bottoms and crank up your coaxial Jensen speakers in your 1977 Trans Am....its time for a time warp back to the 1970's!
And...........along comes the heroes to bring on new rays, sunshine for all, to brighten the days, threesome for now, who knows what the tomorrow's may bring, all of them playing their instruments, oh can't wait to hear em sing.......
2:20 to 2:33 are 13 seconds of pure Jellyfish nostalgia!! Goosebumps!! From 3:57 to 4:20 is like being catapulted into a modern-day Led Zep spaceship. So many elements of joy!!
I was hooked on Jellyfish since their first album Bellybutton in 1990, and am so happy to have discovered this gem of a song. Looking forward to the new 4 song EP. What a breath of fresh air this song is.....I can’t stop listening!
It sounds to me like Tim Smith finally joined Imperial Drag! We all needed this to happen!! If and when the Spaceship plays live I know it's going to be a phenomenal experience, most likely rivaling the incredible Spilt Milk tour of summer 1993. We all await the blastoff with excitement and wonder.
It's like the world had to sleep a while longer before they woke up to these guys... And this tune is like an anthem for the current times. Also great lyric video 😁.
This is truly magnificent. These guys when they were in Jellyfish should have been selling truckloads of albums, they churn out the most splendid of melodies, great lyrics and powerful musicianship, they have two EP’s out that should sell truckloads but won’t. Go and buy them now, you’ll love ‘em.
Coming here from Produce like a pro... I absolutely love the voice arrangements and the song has a positive vibe... it reminds me of Beatle's I am the walrus
The lyrics are so beautiful. And the song is the best!! I think it is my favorite! Keep doing this, guys! Your music is fantastic and I feel very lucky to been able to enjoy a new project from you, all ex JF members! When ID was released, I was a baby
Thank each of you so much for getting back together and making great music again. I can’t articulate the feelings I have knowing you’re back. ✌🏻❤️🎸🥁🎹🎤🎶🎵 🚀
This would have to be the most life affirming, supportive and positive song for our current times. It is beautiful and random moments of depth will take me to tears.
It's funny, just a few weeks ago I first heard of Jellyfish and was instantly hooked. Then a few days ago I hear of The Lickerish Quartet.....I was thinking either clever marketing or right place at the right time. Either way, I'm so happy to be able to hear this. Music that really gets me off, comes so far and few between. I put this song up there with some of my favorite songs of all time and I'm incredibly intrigued to see where this goes. Beatles, ELO, David Bowie, Sabbath, Badfinger, Supertramp, Queen. Though I feel so many influences, it's its own being. Unique and one of a kind. Thank you! Just one taste and I'm a Lickerish junky.
Very lush, clever, crafted and "nice". But crucially missing the "grit" to create a true pearl of sonic Jellyfishness...Andy Sturmer. One can only wish he would join the frey and make a Brighter Day ✌️
I love everything about this song. The glissando to start, the effects on the bass, the Mellotron that comes in at the chorus, the guitar lines at the intro and after the choruses, and the keys during the verses in the right ear, The lyrics are pure serendipity, reflecting back to Jellyfish. Roger, you have outdone yourself!
3:48 'best' part begins 5:32 also begins a magic swirling moment I'm so so pleased and happy you put this together, guys! A dream to hear this for many of u s.
Hell Yes! This stuff us amazing. I enjoyed Roger's solo albums and Imperial Drag, but this is next level stuff. I heard about this project on the Produce like a pro channel interview here on the UA-cam.
Normally I pay little attention to lyrics. These guys can write lyrics! Brilliant is an understatement! Keep up the spectacular work! You make the music I'll buy everything you put out!
Listening to this again later in the day. This made my tear up by bringing back every great memory from these guys that they gave me for the past 30 years
You guys sound fantastic. I can't get over how great this is and how desperately needed this kind of fun is in 2020. Thank you for getting together and releasing it
You three (+1) have really put some quality music together. I'm eager to hear more. "Fadoodle" may be the impetus for the procreation of newlings in December/January next - quite clever.
Follow the path you have laid out for youselves with this song. Your others are weak. ELO, Bealtes, 10cc, are all really strong influences for you. Stay with it. We need well thought-out music. Computer-generated (non-musicians) are trying to dominate the "music" market.
Good God, that Flip-Top bass tone at the 1st verse is so chunky. And the Walrus-y ending, thank you thank you! Please put some Drag in the setlist. I've been waiting 25yrs!
Thank you... I'm hearing too many Jelly references and needed to know that the Imperial Drap people remembered ERIC SANG a lot and sounded amazing on that record
Yep but we got Tim Smith back on bass this time .!! ...this really is the closest we'll get to having Jellyfish back again. I'm really hoping they can bring back some of that trippy psychedelia... ala Bedspring Kiss, Russian Hill, Calling Sarah, Hush .. list goes on! ..I love Roger's solo stuff too!!😍🤩😇 ..

that'S why it'S So Shit- - -
A shit load of Crowded House/Finns and several buckets of shear talent !
To me they're reminiscent of that but have updated it somehow
I don't dislike any Lickerish Quartet songs, I like them all. But this is still by far my favorite.
And...........along comes the heroes to bring on new rays, sunshine for all, to brighten the days, threesome for now, who knows what the tomorrow's may bring, all of them playing their instruments, oh can't wait to hear em sing.......

Looking at the wiki page for Jellyfish and saw a link to The Lickerish Quartet, and I'm SO glad.
Listened to this for months, and it STILL gets better every time I play it.
Fantastic. 6 minutes of melody, ideas, fun and love...

So shines a good deed in a weary world

Dreamy, Poppy, Uplifting, and Trippy......just what I'd expect from Msrs Manning, Dover, and Smith. Well-Done sirs!!

This made my year to get 3 of the 4 guys together in one place for such a great and instant classic song.
Thank each of you so much for getting back together and making great music again. I can’t articulate the feelings I have knowing you’re back. ✌🏻❤️🎸🥁🎹🎤🎶🎵 🚀
I hope you guys go out on tour (and don't forget Europe) when this all blows over

Cygnus I heard some Imperial Drag in there too. Another great 1-CD wonder band.
Check out Imperial Drag, my friend.
Imperial Drag. You won't regret it.
Very lush, clever, crafted and "nice". But crucially missing the "grit" to create a true pearl of sonic Jellyfishness...Andy Sturmer.

I think we all know that's not gonna happen. Time moves on, just enjoy this new stuff.
@@stevenpaul9259 Sorry it doesn't do it for me. It's candyfloss fluff.
Maybe you can't have Jellyfish without Andy, but this is fabulous and probably different than what would happen with him involved
Music to soothe a battered soul
The production on this song is insanely good . There are so many layers of ear candy. As expected, each song gets better and better with every listen.

I'm a mellotron fanboy and I'm still missing it under the layers - can you timestamp it?

I'm so so pleased and happy you put this together, guys!
A dream to hear this for many of u s.
How good is this? Someone found a time machine, travelled back to the 70's and brought us this gem. Wonderful.
More of this please.
Hell Yes! This stuff us amazing. I enjoyed Roger's solo albums and Imperial Drag, but this is next level stuff. I heard about this project on the Produce like a pro channel interview here on the UA-cam.
Cats of Sherman Produce Like a Pro got me back into Jellyfish which led me to TLQ. It’s been so long since music has made me this happy! ❤️
Normally I pay little attention to lyrics. These guys can write lyrics! Brilliant is an understatement! Keep up the spectacular work! You make the music I'll buy everything you put out!

Great track! So glad to hear more music from you. Can’t wait for the EP release. Been a huge fan since Spilt Milk.
Hello lickerish quartet. You really inspired my childhood. I even named my roblox username after this song. Thank you
Let me know if you need my list of “reaction video” peeps to try to get this out to more music lovers.
