Ahhh.... I still remember seeing the arcade cabinets with this cinematic. I was a kid in his early teens in the waning days of arcades and this one stood out the most.
I remember thinking as a kid that these are the best graphics I had ever seen. Even now looking back it’s very impressive that they animated this only with sprites. I am in my 30s now and this still gets me excited
I still remember that feeling of seeing Super Street Fighter 2 for the first time I had read about it to death in all the gaming mags that covered it and there was many back then and desperately wanted to see and play it, one day 13 years old playing down the local arcade on Champion edition and hearing in the distance "hadokens & Tigerrr UPPERCUT!" but they sounded different I thought where the hell is that coming from and in special room were 8 super machines all linked together 4 linked were new challengers and the other 4 were super turbo machines, I thought all my Christmas's had come at once, a day in my life I will never forget, there has never been a game that has had such a hold over me like street fighter 2 has. The Ryu intro on new challengers and the music behind was flipping awesome and hearing that Q sound was like no other, happy and great days!
Those of us who grew up in the 80s and 90s had the best childhoods and the lived the best of the old analog world and this new digital age! This opening still gets me to my feet today, and the story you told and shared just now, took me back in time, and I saw your whole experience as if it was my own. I grew up in DC and we went to a place in Maryland called Outer Limits at Iverson Mall and they had this game there, and everyone was around it playing from opening to closing, especially on the weekends in the summertime when school was out!! So thank you for sharing, because no games made today can even match the ingenuity of the artist back then, nor withhold enough artwork to force our imagination to fill in the blanks. Today, you see everything in 3-D, and there is little left for the mind to conjure and create on its own. It robs the current generation of participating on a deeper level, like we had back then!
Used to play this 50p at a time in the arcades 20 years ago ... amazing. Wish we still had arcade machines at the cinema or something with these classics. Thankfully I have the emulators / roms on my phone so can still play but it's not the same as the arcades.
As a teen it was sick to see Capcom incorporate the Expansion DLC type of system in the arcades when they created Champion Edition and then once more with Turbo Hyper Fighter Edition building onto the same engine. Super SF followed suit and we got the pinnacle versions. Great history for the best fighter to ignite the genre!
Woah... incredible! No clue what this text says but I know this is something special! Just what will you show me? (0:00) What's "super" about it? Ryu's in the opening! The last game had two random foreigners so this part is pretty super, too. Such pretty colors! Looking good, Ryu! What's-- Oh, there it is! Hadouken! Super... Super! Super Street Fighter II! The New Challengers!
Saw the post date and said to myself man I can't believe this game came out 14 years ago. Then I did the math and realised it's like 30 and 14 years ago was just 2010. I dunno how but to me this will always be the new version of Street Fighter.
The whole game should have a detailed proportion style, the current games look real child friendly. It could look anime and still be hardcore, just feels like 4 and 5 has Disney's hands on it.
@@who7111 on an observation they made it appear more child friendly.5 looks less so but still has that somewhat bubbly look too it.muscles look thick and fat like. Not saying it has to be too serious, but take it further it does hold the name street fighter.Part 6 should look slick otherwise in look tekken and snk will beat them out.
The greatest fighting game intro of all time, and one of the most iconic videogame openings ever...
YUP
Shut up
Goosebumps
Soul Blade intro it's the best
Samurai shodown original
This is in my opinion, the greatest opening to a fighting game EVER!
I still remember seeing this intro in an arcade when I was 8, can't remember where I got married though, my memory clearly has priorities
Soul Blade intro is the best
Mortal Kombat 2 is up there.
People don't realize how HYPE this intro was back in the day!
That’s not totally true.
Especially when you're walking around the arcade and looking for the Street Fighter 2 cabinet
I didn't have any coins to play with, I looked like an idiot looking at the intro
It was equally hype in Ryu’s Smash trailer.
And it’s still is
the way he bobs is so badass.
these 27 seconds are my childhood
You just had to be there when this game first hit the arcades...it was epic
YUP
I was there
I remember this well, great memories, why arcades don't have these types of games now is beyond me
I can ONLY IMAGINE THE NOSTALGIA AND THE WANTING TO BE IN THE GAME 🔥🔥🔥🔥
From the Super NES to the Wii U. How far we've come.
lmao, we have done even better advancements with switch street fighter 2
@@Mo-Thug He's talking about SSB4
Now we got the switch
This is so 90s
And I absolutely love it for that
The only SF opening I will not ever forget. so much child memories playing this game.
Loved how Smash 4 called back to this.

Perfect use case lol! Me too! It really builds you up!
Ryu is Capcom! , Ryu is the King of fighting games!, Ryu is the face of the fighting genre, Ryu is one of the icons of all gaming history!
Yeah, but he's not the most popular Street Fighter character despite his recognizability.
@@GlitchanBlack damn Chun-Li and her legendary set of thighs and legs.

Over 30 years and the visuals are still magic. Thank you Capcom.
All hail the 90's !
this was absolutely insane back in the day, the visual fidelity was unmatched

26 seconds of epicness
The sound of the coin at the beginning gave the introduction charm
I remember seeing this intro in a gameshop. I asked my dad to buy me one. Not until 2 weeks later. It was the longest 2 weeks I’ve ever waited.
With sf6 just around the corner. I'm starting to experience all of the retro games I've never seen until now..pretty cool 😎

Just to think they were cooking up Evil Ryu with the first 0:03 seconds. Nostalgia
In CvS2 I color edited Ryu to look like the "darkness" part of this intro
