I'm a rare books librarian and archivist and I just wanted to say not to put the pictures back into the album! Paper made during the industrial revolution was when it began to truly wane in quality and became highly acidic (this is why book pages from the 1800-2000's are so brittle but we have books from the 1500's that are like new). This will break down the photographs, but also traces of adhesive left behind will also cause the photographs degrade even further. The plastic bags aren't great for preservation, so if you did want to protect the photos, I'd put them in some acid free envelopes or in mylar!
I highly doubt she’s interested in preserving them, tbh hahahah from what I gathered of what she said she will just glue them on the walls unprotected or something similar...
It kind of hurts at the thought of destroying antique photos and artwork like this but I also wish people like bunny knew things like this so she could better preserve them OR give them to people who catalog them. I REALLY wish the photos nailed to the walls were in antique frames which I'm sure she also has ,💔💔💔
Dudes chill down😅✌️❣️ Sorry but do U know Bunny at all? She would never destroy antiques. Period. -She bought the pics at the wall in an antiqueShop where they already had the holes and nails to dispay em. Thats why she said about those tiny ones that she would _glue_ them to the wall. And i'm freaking sure that If she hat 100 teeny tiny frames for the 100 teeny tiny pics that she would do the 1+1=2 and put the pics in the frames. ...also Ladys.. cant Y'all just be nice? WE in the swamp have a big family. and we just like friendly people, very kind souls, like our queen is. U know? ;)
@@C.C.369 I don't think the comments above meant harm, just wishing there was a alternate way to display things that's all. Some other comments were just trying to say to preserve them longer, there are methods, not that she couldn't do what she wants with her things it was just an observation is all. We all appreciate bunny at the end of the day
I collect tin types! These are called gem tin types. They were one of the very first portable pictures, and were commonly carried by soldiers in their wallets or tiny albums. Sometimes the photographers would hand tint pink cheeks on the faces to make them look more lively.
Imagine, when these portraits were made, all the effort and time that went into them. The people who loved these people, I wonder how they’d feel about them being put on someone’s wall years and years later... would they be happy that these images were still being loved and cared for..?
Bunny is so kind and respectful of the people in the pictures. She talk like she wishes she knew them. I hope someone like that gets all my pictures when I have passed a hundred years from now.
Tiny Tinny portraits were carried by soldiers during the Civil War and by their loved ones. Perhaps these albums were made to put those in after the war to keep for family. Or, perhaps it was normal to send family these. It took a long time for the camera to finally take the shot, it’s easier to just be normal than try to smile for 60 seconds or more.
I was speaking to the question of WHY are the tin types so small. I have pictures...actual pictures made from tin type, of my great grandfather that are exactly the size of your tintypes that are so small. My great grandmother also kept one of the pictures in a tiny little oval frame that had a cover that latched over the picture to protect it. The picture is of him in his civil war uniform.
I love old photos. When I got sick and had to make the decision to go on palliative care I had to pass on the photos of my great great grandparents and all the photos of my fathers family to family it broke my heart knowing they don’t and won’t treasure them like I do. I even thought at the time I’d rather send them to Bunny because you would appreciate them and their story even though they aren’t her family. Thank you for saving and sharing this snapshots of history. 💜
I was thinking the same thing for sure! It’s interesting to wonder about that. You can tell the ones that are alive because they are posed “normally” and just sitting regularly. The one with the pockestwatch almost looked like he was lying down on something and that’s why there was something off about his eyes. The sitting guy with the standing guy, the sitting guy could have been deceased (so getting the sitting position may not be the lucky one). And the guy leaning with the tassel things under his arm could have been posed that way too. I dunno. I kinda love/hate when there is no story to these pictures because it’s fascinating and I want to know!
Tin types were usually used for keepsakes. More specifically, soilders (first introduced around the Civil War) would take them to keep pictures of their families with them. They were light, durable, and inexpensive. Tin types were the new cheap alternative so it allowed the lower/middle class to finally have portraits. Because before then, only upper class/upper middle could afford portraits because they were painted. The reason why people didn’t smile in portraits back then was due to the fact that taking the photo took several minutes, so it was more comfortable to not smile. It would be quite difficult for someone to smile for 3 to sometimes 7 or more consecutive minutes. I took a photo history class this past semester. Hope this helps answer your questions!
I love how these videos are different. It's like history time with Bunny! The way you speak of these people is so respectful and caring. If any of the family's of these people saw this they would appreciate all the kind things you say about them, it's so sweet ❤️
I share your same love for interesting antiques. I love the energy stamped into these objects. The bits of soul still attached. I can feel the heartache and joy they have given to those in the past. I can spend days in antique stores and booths.
I love this. Living for this Bunny! I love antiques. It was always my childhood dream to purchase an 100+ year old church and renovate it into my home. Husband is not on board though. Lol
I love how much she appreciates historical artifacts. It’s such a beautiful thought that these people can be appreciated so long after their deaths by so many people.
Omg I love when you do these vids!!! I love antique items like this how awesome, and to really hear your passion and excitement for things like this is really really refreshing
I love seeing these treasures! It's cool to see the old photos and such and experiencing your genuine enthusiasm for odd antiques makes the video very enjoyable.
I am LOVING this beautiful album, beautiful people, and the beautiful appreciation of the past life. Thank you for sharing this with us Bunny. It is SO fascinating.
Bunny! Before I even play this, I'm sending you a box of treasures soon!! They have been with my family for a while and I know a tiny bit of history on where it all came from (I'll include in letter) I know you will love and display everything how it should be! I'll put UTownsDiva on the box somewhere so you know it's full of 1900s history!! Love ya chick!! Tell the ManofDog what's up!!!
I remember Spoon River Anthology and it made an impression on me as well! We did a project on a few of the poems and we went to the graveyard and read the poems in the snow at night. It felt like such a magical experience!
Oh Bunny I loved this video! I loved the portraits where the person was smirking or smiling. So much character. I'd love for you to show more of your antique collection, and that diary you talked about.
I collect tin types as well! And normally, if they're that small, they were for necklce locketes. 🤗😁 and I'm jealous of this album! I'd love to own one like that!
I always love seeing your antiques. The portraits with the pitting and scratches get me so drawn in. I'd love to see more of your antiques as you find them or if you buy more.
Bunny, a couple of these looked like death photos. It was not uncommon in the time to prop up the body in chairs etc.. to take a last photo for the loved ones. There were a couple that had that gone expression. and one guy looked like he might actually be reclining instead of standing.
Some might be but Ask a Mortician has a video where she debunks certain props that people thought that held up the dead. However glassy expressions and sleeping people could be dead.
I absolutely loved this video, they rarely smiled because of long exposure time. This is why I watch you, I love your odd taste in decor and I too love odd antiques. I have seen your Uncommon Objects haul videos multiple times. If you ever had the time to do more of those, I would LOVE it!
These old pictures/newspapers/diaries/dolls/toys....anything really that is personal to someone is so so special and interesting to me. I cant wait to see the diary video!!! My favourite portrait was the last gentleman. He was handsome and looked almost so modern.
Yes this ^^^ and also when people started to travel and when the photographer would stop by they would do the small ones so it didnt take up a bunch of room
My great great grandpa was born in 1900, and my grandfather has all of these photos from when he was in the military, and in there original frames. It’s so amazing!! He even has old letters he sent to home. I love photos!!
Honestly babe, loved this video. Watching you talk about one of ur passions in such a knowledgeable way is so much fun! What a collection! Cannot wait for more :)
From ME and all the people in these photos- thanks for sharing! You brought all of these lives back to life and validity of existence! Put them in the little album! They deserve it, and a second video of their new “home/respectful place” would be awesome!!
My mom and myself found some tin type pictures of family members a few years ago. It was in my mamaw's things after she passed away. What surprised me, is that some of the people were Native American, we had no idea we had Indian in our bloodline.
You should have a DNA test done to see how far down the bloodline goes. It would be an awesome thing to pass down to your grandchildren along with the photos. 😊
This is so cool omg. I love looking at old photo albums and those fades photographs. There's so much mystery & I love that. You should show us your fave antiques!
i love you bunny. i've been rewatching your videos everyday. its so weird that i'm watching you and it feels like you're my best friend but you don't even know me lmao. thank you for making videos
I love antiques...I would love to see more of these types of videos. I am curious and excited to see the famous person’s diary. My favorite portrait was the very last one....I like that surprised look!
People didnt smile alot in photos back then because it took a long exposure time and it was harder to hold a smile the exact same than a relaxed face. Esp a group photo. Any movement messed up the photo. Also alot of photos esp of children they are death photos. Photography was expensive so not everyone could afford to have a photo so if a child died they used to pose them for a photo for memorializing
there's also a trend with children in photography, i think it's called Ghost Mother or Phantom mother or something. The mother would be hidden, draped in a curtain, while holding their baby still for the picture!
Round Top! Good times. Bought some cool stuff. Round Rock is a small city north of Austin - not the same...but also has some cute antique stores and town square😜
Yay! More treasures! I hope there’s more vids of your collections and hidden home treasures on this channel or your other channel!! This is so much fun and to hear you talk about each item !! More more more!
Wow - got here early. Love these videos - the pens, journals, all so relaxing. I started journaling again (sitting by a fire pit at night) thanks to you! 🐰🤍🐊🧚♂️
I collect antiques myself, this was freaking awesome to watch coming from you!! Definitely do more of these, I would love to see more antique/vintage buys!😄💜
Yep, I was going to comment this as well. It looked like the high collar had a brooch on it like the ladies used to wear back then. And some sort of head gear on almost like a pill hat or something. Not too sure about that one. 🤷♀️
I love antiques and I loved this video! I support you showing off more antiques and talking about them in detail and how they make you feel like this :)))
These are so cool! I love unique, old timey stuff! I've kept a lot of things my grandparents gave me over the years and I appreciate it more now than ever ❤
I am surprised at how much I enjoyed this video! I would love for you to do more like this. It's also pretty neat to read through the comments section & learn a little more about the history of photography and the tiny photos.
I have this exact album but it’s filled with the pictures. I never thought I would see another. Wow! I am an antique photography collector and have about five hundred cabinet photos, Tin types, daguerreotypes, and ambrotypes. I also collect the 1800’s leather bound photo albums. I love to see a fellow collector’s collection. Awesome Bunny!!!
I adore things like this. My husband collects stamps, mainly Victorian Penny Reds, and he always puts the ones that are still attached to the envelope/letter to one side for me, because I love reading them and imagining the stories behind them 💕.
Loved Eerie Indiana. And I was lucky enough to see John Astin play Poe in Baltimore, MD in a show for Poe's Birthday celebration at Westminster Presbyterian Church years ago. Was a great experience.
It’s Round Top I used to live and work in that area. Twice a year the road floods with people and the Elemetary kids have to be picked up at the high school. Haha good times
Love this video and antique flip throughs in general. One of my favourite things I bought from a vintage fair is a large book of postcards that a family had collected/been sent over the years. Going through them and reading them was so interesting, especially since a few times the same people were referenced and you can see what different friends/family were up to at different times.
This is AMAZING! I collect antique and vintage photos. Tin types tend to scratch and can be damaged easily. I would def recommend you keep them in the bags and not put them in the album. They are so special.
I didn’t know I would be so interested in this, something about the mystery of who these people were and your comments bunny kept me watching all the way through the video.👍😊
These are some of my favorite kinds of videos you do. I would like to see more soon. It is morbid, however I'm curious about how many of them were photographed after they died? I have heard that that you'd only have one picture in your life during that time period and it was taken after you passed away. So sad to think you're memory is immortalized during your death. Thank you for sharing!
Because of your love for antique type things, you have given the people in your pictures immortality. Instead of their pictures fading away to dust, they will now forever be frozen in time for people today to enjoy and imagine what their life was like and who they were. pretty cool!
I just finished the video! I really just want to say that videos like this are the reason I subscribed years ago. I can clearly tell that you truly enjoy talking about antique stuff and this was sooo interesting!! I would love more flip through videos of photo albums or diaries.
I'm OBSESSED with Victorian era photos and post-mortem photos. You have some gems there. I paused the video on each photo to study it. Please make more of these videos. Love you Mama Gator. 💗
Stayed until the end and loved, loved, loved every minute of this video and so excited to see more videos like this because your collection is amazing. My absolute favorite things about antiques is imagining who the person was that owned the item and their energy. If only they could tell us their tale.
I really really like this!! It helped my anxiety, cos i was focusing on looking at all the different people and taking my mind away from anxious thoughts. Thank you Bunny, please do more, and make them long videos ! Hehe 😊
Maybe the last guy with the messed up face is of the clergy. He had a high collar and it looks as if there is a little Jewish hat on his head. I love these kind of videos. It's historical. It's someones life. Love it
I’m a long time collector and lover of antiques! I collect Hair Mourning Jewelry from the Victorian and Georgian period. I believe you’d definitely fall in love with it. It’s mourning jewelry made out of the deceased persons hair!
I could be wrong but I remember my mother telling me this when I asked her why they didn't smile in pictures. So it can be wrong but I think that it sounds correct... But anyway... They did not smile because of how long it would take to get the picture done and then later on they didn't smile because they didn't want to take a bad picture. They couldn't retake the photos or even see them till later so they did not want to risk getting a bad picture by smiling when they can get decent photos by not smiling.

Gem tintypes were most affordable, faster to produce, and an ideal size for including in a locket or mourning jewelry.

not to get technical and nit picky but cameras back then didn't have shutter speeds it was done by manual exposure

Some of those look like post mortem keepsake photos. The “books” under the arm...could be props to hold them up.
I was thinking this too! Especially the subjects with the lighter eyes, that’s usually a good giveaway that it’s a “death portrait”.
I thought the same, some of them have sunken cheeks too
I think its a pocket watch 🤔

I collect antiques myself, this was freaking awesome to watch coming from you!! Definitely do more of these, I would love to see more antique/vintage buys!😄💜
This totally makes me think of that Nicole Kidman movie “The Others”...so good! Love your love for the unusual and overlooked.
I absolutely love this video. I got excited to learn more about antiques, but I also calmed down and chilled with Bunny to see what she found
That heavily scratched up one looks like a young woman with a high collar and done up hair
I was thinking that too
Took me way too long to find this comment
Yep, I was going to comment this as well. It looked like the high collar had a brooch on it like the ladies used to wear back then. And some sort of head gear on almost like a pill hat or something. Not too sure about that one. 🤷♀️
I love antiques and I loved this video! I support you showing off more antiques and talking about them in detail and how they make you feel like this :)))
That one guy is DEFINITELY smirking, lol
If that guy lived now he'd be that one fun party guy that a bunch of people know because there's always that one guy hahaha.
These are so cool! I love unique, old timey stuff! I've kept a lot of things my grandparents gave me over the years and I appreciate it more now than ever ❤
Was looking for something to watch and refreshed my page. This was uploaded 5 seconds ago so perfect timing 😂
I am surprised at how much I enjoyed this video! I would love for you to do more like this. It's also pretty neat to read through the comments section & learn a little more about the history of photography and the tiny photos.
I wish pictures could talk too. I would also love to go to the Round Top Texas Antique week show, and stay in one of the Junk Gypsy Inns.
I am so jealous, that's who I first looked up to when I started.💜
I have this exact album but it’s filled with the pictures. I never thought I would see another. Wow! I am an antique photography collector and have about five hundred cabinet photos, Tin types, daguerreotypes, and ambrotypes. I also collect the 1800’s leather bound photo albums. I love to see a fellow collector’s collection. Awesome Bunny!!!
i love picking out unique tintypes when i’m antique shopping, the spookier the better!
I adore things like this. My husband collects stamps, mainly Victorian Penny Reds, and he always puts the ones that are still attached to the envelope/letter to one side for me, because I love reading them and imagining the stories behind them 💕.
This is really interesting. I didn't know they used tin for portraits too back then.
I love looking at old photos. So much history captured in one picture.
I really loved this, Bunny! I'd love to see more videos like this from you.
I definitely stayed till the end and my favorites were the pink cheeked men that looked like they were wearing purple coats. Thank you Bunny. 💚💚
Loved this. If I had room, I would have so much of these treasures. What a wonderful way to share them with the world!
Bunny, you have lived many lives before. Enjoy!😘You are a kind soul that shows through your eyes of many lifetimes.
Omg I literally wish we could be friends. I haven’t met anyone who loves antiques and old photos as much as I do, except for you lol.
I love them too!
Because of your love for antique type things, you have given the people in your pictures immortality. Instead of their pictures fading away to dust, they will now forever be frozen in time for people today to enjoy and imagine what their life was like and who they were. pretty cool!
No one:
Literally no one:
Bunny: “Guys, I wish pictures could talk.”
❤️❤️
I just finished the video! I really just want to say that videos like this are the reason I subscribed years ago. I can clearly tell that you truly enjoy talking about antique stuff and this was sooo interesting!! I would love more flip through videos of photo albums or diaries.
Bunny is glowing today💖
I'm OBSESSED with Victorian era photos and post-mortem photos. You have some gems there. I paused the video on each photo to study it. Please make more of these videos. Love you Mama Gator. 💗
That little album is so cute!
Stayed until the end and loved, loved, loved every minute of this video and so excited to see more videos like this because your collection is amazing. My absolute favorite things about antiques is imagining who the person was that owned the item and their energy. If only they could tell us their tale.
The one with the two women in beautiful dresses was my favorite. I wish we could wear dresses like that but in Arizona we would die of heat strokes.🔥😂
I really really like this!! It helped my anxiety, cos i was focusing on looking at all the different people and taking my mind away from anxious thoughts. Thank you Bunny, please do more, and make them long videos ! Hehe 😊
13:27 he kinda cute doh.
17:29 looks like a baldwin.
20:32 is kinda creepy with the white eyes. It looks like he's staring into my soul.
1850-1867?? Looks like love that era.. I have two dresses hand made from that same civil war era dress on the first photo.. If the 2 ladies..
Bunny! I need a new pallet 😭 lol nothing compares! ❤️
This is amazing! I love what you’re doing which these and that you buy them. I really enjoy watching. 🥰 You’re such a kind person, Bunny.
Maybe the last guy with the messed up face is of the clergy. He had a high collar
and it looks as if there is a little Jewish
hat on his head. I love these kind of
videos. It's historical. It's someones life.
Love it
I LOVE looking at old images. I thought I was the only one who tried to imagine what their lives were like.😊 Big 👍👍 for Erie, Indiana.💜
Tabby Cat I’m in Erie Illinois
“Ten out of ten” or “tin out of tin”? Little jokes in there?! 😂😅
💘
This is probably one of my favorite videos from you, Bunny! I love antiques and hearing someone just as passionate about them
back then men were so handsome and charming with such an elegant class .,...
I find vintage and antiques a lot of fun. I hope you do many more in the future!!!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
