Agreed! This is predatory pricing. Using FOMO to sell in a game like warframe is so backwards to so much of what the game and community identity is...helpful and inclusive.
The price isn't what makes it predatory. The fact that it is cash only when you already have a cash equivalent with platinum and that they are using FOMO is what makes it predatory.
@@jeffknox6014 The only exception being Tennogen on PC, and that's mainly to the designer getting a cut of all sales (cause it's their work).

Regal Aya is easily one of the worst bang-for-your-buck currencies introduced to the game by far.
Regal Aya is completely worthless (or at least will have large gaps of being worthless) if you either have all prime accessories at the time of release or have everything you wanted that was offered through them. This is compared to Platinum which will always have *some* worth in some way at nearly all times.

while its definitely over-valued, I do like regal aya, because I usually farm the primes because I cant justify dropping $140 on WF even twice a year, let alone 3 or 4 times a year. But I often like the accessories, but typically only SOME of them, and aya lets me pick and choose exactly what I want.
I couldn't care less about sigils, or glyphs, but the armor/accessories can be pretty cool. I appreciate that they are obtainable individually, after PA has ended.
still though, Aya is NOT worth the cost 99% of the time for me.
I also like it. I don't have everything and try to pick the stuff I want to have. Why have anything against it. You do not have to buy it you don't have to turn it in when you get some here and there.
It's only an issue to those who have everything in the game....which would always be an issue no matter what is offered in game. To everyone else, Regal Aya has a really great value to it.
Its a complicated currency, because it will either cost too much (therefore farming or buying the prime parts is your best option) or it will cost too little and people could buy Aya, exchange for a prime and then sell for plat for a profit.
I do prefer Aya be overpriced though. That has the least negative impact on the in game economy.

I agree. The community should get out of their way to shut this down before it becomes normal. If you let them have this now, what are they gonna do next? I like DE and the biggest reason I spent quite the money in the game is because I wanted to give something to a free game that I poured hundreds of hours at the time. Now thousands of hours in and finally getting to MR30, it's sad that this type of issue rises a bit too suddenly.

Rent is some places are above 2 minimun wages, with luck you can find one around 200$, but keep in mind we usually get 200$~300$.

I've been playing warframe for 9 years, they never needed to do this kind of transaction, always did fair monetization, they've built an IMAGE of being fair with players, removing unfair gacha systems,
People who buy platinum,prime access ans tennogen stuff, do because they believe in DE standards.
To be fair DE is growing they need more money, but they can and already did make money without predatory monetization, im 100% confident they can keep doing this.
1 skin pack is not a big deal, but this kind of behavior open doors to other abusive tatics.
Just hope they dont become another lootbox simulator.
I really wanted one when I saw them but the pricing and the bundle content just don’t mesh with my budget or what I find to be acceptable from DE. Part of the reason I am so accepting of the constant host migration IS the fair monetization, but if this is how expensive things are going to get them my expectations will be much more rigid and unforgiving.
Hell the only stuff i personally care about is the Signa's the rest i can easily live without.

Thank you for bringing up an important but under looked facet about this entire thing. This isn't the developers and faces that we see doing it, it's the guys in business suits with a business degree trying to milk us, and you know what the worst part is? They don't care and they don't have to care, they are all faceless people who will never interact with the community other than to drain you of your money, meanwhile all the hate and complaints go towards the faces we know represent DE, Reb, Meg, Pablo, Helen, etc etc. Completely undeserved hate for the actions of soulless people.
I'm normally leaning towards defending DE because I'll be honest here, I myself see some "feedbacks" as people being spoiled, but this one is 100% deserves the criticism. We will not let this stand by. We don't want a destiny 2 clone.

Things like this pack are why I was annoyed when Regal Aya was added as untradeable. More premium currencies = more things that can add a bonus (read: trick people into justifying) to bundles exactly like this and get the community to defend inflated prices with "well look at the value!" If you went shopping to buy a $50 jacket, you'd be calling the local news if when you got to the counter and the only way they'd sell it to you was for $90 but with two $30 gift cards, one to the store you're shopping and one to separate store.
Let us split the pack, offer it without Aya/plat, refund people as needed. It's the right thing to do.
Good luck trying to convince Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony to go through with the refund. CDPR tried to do it and CP2077 ended up being completely removed from the PSN for a considerable amount of time.
They can't adjust the price anymore, it's out of their hands at this point. All they can do is make the packs more worth their price.

Can you imagine how much good grace and positive feedback would they receive as a company, that could potentially lead to more players (more platinum sales)? Not even the whole bundle but just the skins, for example.
Reward players by playing your game instead of selling them a product like some soulless merchant. Greed is such an ugly thing.
As someone who already and still spending for DE's sales in the future (namely tennogens and prime accessories) im still baffled about several things:
Regal Aya, as a premium token it having the potential of reaching near zero value (at worst, one or few regal ayas for an inventory slot) on players who kept up with previous prime releases both equipment and accessories alike are just, yikes. Forcing their already returning customer who's interested in heirloom packs to also pay for so called premium token with zero value is straight up insulting.
Deluxe Skin time limited sales, aka the core of the fomo scheme. Mind you that DE used to do the same "buy now or miss out" for deluxe skins prior to Rhino Palatine release back in Nov 2015, we used to joke how Excal Proto-Armor was the pc exclusive skin when consoles getting their default excal reskin in their native console themes until DE retracted their time exclusiveness. only for it to come back in full swing with real money paywall is another slap to the already returning customers and entire playerbase alike.
And the lack of individual option is just another kick in the already upside down bucket.
Heirloom is way to expensive and most people dont care about the plat in the pack people just want one of the skins or both but i wont pay 60 bucks for a frost skin already spend way too much on cosmetics over the years... i was hoping tennocon would show something that brings me back to the game but that wasnt the case rather the opposite

I think the most surprising thing about all of this is that there was a non insignificant amount of people defending DE for this despite it clearly being a disgusting overreach in terms of microtransactions
I've seen a few of the defences, and they're laughable. DE are not a fledgling company needing founder money keep the afloat. They're a very profitable company so defending it makes no sense.
Glad to see a big content creator that has worked with DE speaking out for the community. Personally i'll spend 60€ on all destiny dlc except the last one, because they are in offer now and i'll get much more content than 2 skins
(Yes, i'm aware of the irony of going to destiny because warframe introduced expensive cosmetics with fomo, but still, 4 campaigns vs 2 skins)

People play Warframe because they love the game and how it keeps being handled (mostly). They're not blind fanboys who'll do anything their overlord says or puts (or I guess horny in Genshin's case let's be real)
Just one small correction to your calculations. the Aya also gets you slots and potatoes. I know that still doesn't equalize the equation, but wanted to point it out.
If it was $50 for both the skins and the signas or $25 each for just 1 skin and signa then I would have 100% bought it.
All the Heirloom stuff aside, a few years ago I had no hesitation to buy plat and Prime Access because it felt like a good investment. I got some items, DE got money to improve the game, win-win, but as time's gone on I've found myself more and more hesitant to buy things. The game's still good, I still play it at least once a week at a minimum, but the approach toward monetisation is slowly getting more and more aggresive and predatory as time goes on, and I refuse to condone that.
Now in regards to the Heirlooms: Is this the DEVELOPERS fault? No. The people who make the game arent the people making these decisions, as TP said. The Coders, the artists, the musicians, the actors, none of them are the ones to be mad at here. The ones who are to blame are hiding in the background using the devs as the scapegoats, and without a means of getting to them directly, we have to show them we womt tolerate this the only way they'll listen, by hitting their wallets.
Dont buy it. The skins are amazing, yes, but if we endorse this now it'll only get worse. Warframe will survive without our money this time around, and in future we can get more heirloom skins at a much more reasonable price.
Love warframe more than any other game, it got me through the toughest point in my life back in 2015, winning the cosplay contest in 2018 got my wife and I out of debt, and I gave back to the community being a guide of the Lotus for several years. That all being said, I just stopped playing in recent years because everything is about how much money you can spend for stuff these days and this really made me sick to my stomach when I saw it. This game has become a shell of what I used to love and it is awful to say, but the decisions made at DE continue to push me away farther and farther from coming back than bringing me back in.
as an original beta player, I even have the sigil for being an closed beta player, I really wanted the skins but man when I saw the price I was like bruh WTF are they thinking.
The worst part for me is that i have already given them so much money, and in return i get prayed upon as a "ten year celebration".
I like the Heirloom skins and Hope they make more. But it needs to be that people can pick what they want. Some people may just want the Signas and not the Skins. Or maybe they want the color Pallet and nothing else. And splitting them parts up just like regular bundles.

If offering refunds to people upset if they move them to non timed-exclusive is too hard for DE thanks to Sony, then idk, maybe it's worth making that tiny group people upset to make the much larger community happy, and give a bonus of some kind to people that bought it before the term change.

This is killing me because Frost is still one of my most used frames and I absolutely adore the heirloom skin... but how am I supposed to justify $77 for a skin?
This whole thing is disturbingly predatory, and the only thing worse is the defense force in region chat, insulting people or calling them whiners or 'brokies' if they won't just pony up the price of a full AAA game for a cosmetic. The amount of people I've heard saying 'don't like it don't buy it' or 'it's a free game, stop complaining' since this was announced is ridiculous.
This is why we can't have nice things. Looks like I'm going to remain without a good frost skin in perpetuity...
I was razor thin close to FOMO buying the pack right after the Tennocon hype. Glad I waited a few more days because the thought of buying the bundled skin pack at the asking price is nuts.

Don't fall for it when they tell you they can't change the packs because people have already bought them. Of course they can. They can also offer refunds to people who already bought them if there's some moron out there who literally only bought it because of FOMO. They're just lying to you when they tell you they can't fix it because someone already bought it.
Refunds are harder to do for the console players and opens them up to a lawsuit

Played the the game virtually from the start, took the risk on the Master level Founder pack, never regretted it all these years... until now. Feck this filthy Chinese greed in gaming. I don't blame the devs, but DE management absolutely shares the blame by taking corrupt Chinese investment that leads to viciously overpriced nonsense like this pack. I was planning on supporting Soulframe if they had founders packs, but now there is no chance of that. After seeing the peak of good gaming development practices in Baldur's Gate 3, I'm basically done with F2P games for good.
Yeah this is one of those times where raising pitchforks and torches is 100% welcome imo. I mentioned in a post at some point that I was worried DE would start making "Prime Deluxe" skins that can only be bought via cash and be extremely expensive. Looks like this is exactly what they'll *try* to do if we allow ourselves to roll over on this.
I've always been a strong defender of DE. Been called a white knight quite a few times (Unwarranted mind you, I call out DE when they deserve it like right now), but I can't defend this one, and I won't because as stated - this is definitely not the devs' decision. This is the corpos above them and maybe even Tencent above said corpos. And the only language they know, is money. Do not buy this pack folks. Besides, there are tons of other things to use it on right now. Way too many other games coming out that deserve your money.
I have said for SO LONG that aya is the nasty zit of warframe that you wanna wanna pop. That just needs to go, I wish they NEVER touched prime bundles because they were fair and I would only have to pay once for the things I want, vs. with aya where they intentionally made to where if you buy aya, you'd have to pay even more to compensate the fact they you barely have enough aya.
I don’t mind spending money on Warframe. I’ve spent a lot honestly. $90 is OUTRAGEOUS though for 2 skins. I don’t even use Frost or Mag but was gonna support DE until I seen the price. Way too much cash for what you get.
In the end nothing really changed and its sad to see this happening literally everywhere. All these companies do not care if their predatory business practices are in the open because gamers still buy it

Legally they can't change the value of the pack now since it's too late but it's implied that going forward they won't do this the same way again.
Though it should be noted that for a free to play game, not much of their purchasables are pushed aggressively at all. As long as it doesn't become a slippery slope, imo they need to make money somehow. It's a tough position

@@Argol228 since there are people that have already bought the packs, they can't change the price of existing packs since that would mean REFUNDING the ppl who have bought em, Steam will only allow refunds back into their STEAM WALLET, but even then, it's a really annoying process. However they can just add more packs that consist of only the skins.

Letting in predatory practices like these will kill both the game and DE's reputation in the future. Once it starts, it keeps growing like mold, covering more and more aspects of the game until you get ongoing trainwrecks like Destiny, Halo Infinite, Overwatch...

$10 - $15 for each of these skins is all I would pay for. These guys are lunatics pricing this out of reach of nearly their entire player base aside from a few people.
I was excited to see this bundle, until i saw you cant simply buy just the skins alone or just 1 skin and for someone with fomo aswell as limited luxury spending, its very sad to see i have to miss out because i cant just drop 63 euro for only 2 skins. Feels way to overpriced to me and extremely limited options. And on the matter of regal raya, just delete that....

I appreciate you speaking about this, but I hope you can press more on another issue with this. The regal aya situation has an extra layer of predatory practice that I wish more people were speaking about.
Buying the resurgence bundles is clearly the most incentivized way to spend your regal aya (10 regal aya for both primes bundled with all their prime gear vs 6 regal aya for both warframes), and while it's great that this pack gives people a direct way to get frost and mag prime, because the purchase amounts are 3, 7 and 15 regal aya, you have to buy more regal aya than you need to get the remaining 4 regal aya needed to prevent devaluing the 6 regal aya from your heirloom collection, so if you don't buy more regal aya with excess that you don't need for the purchase you have directly devalued your purchase. This heriloom pack is directly pushing people into a predatory trap where they have to buy more regal aya than they even need to get the best value out of the 6 regal aya they already have. This problem can only be solved with 1 of 2 ways in my opinion, 1 changing regal aya to have any purchasable amount between 1-15, which I don't expect to happen, especially so long after regal ayas introduction, or adding an extra 1, 4 or more regal aya to the heirloom pack with no increase in price, what this does is keep the purchasable amounts and spendable amounts consistent with each other, 1 extra regal aya means only needing to buy the minimum purchasable amount to get the best value out of your regal aya and prevent buying excess regal aya not needed for the purchase, but currently you need to buy 2 sets of 3 regal aya, or 7 regal aya, in order to get the 4 that you need.
And this isn't even an issue that impacts me, I have both frost and mag prime, and their other prime goodies, but I still care enough about this issue to put this out there (This is just in case anyone wants to chime in with the "you just want more stuff" bullshit).
The amount of psychological influencing and subtle inconvenience in marketing shouldn't be a surprise to you, if you can get a degree in that shit.

They missed the mark, and there are alot of people defending it still just because of the additional platinum.
There needed to be a definite "hey, we actually hear you" instead of this seemingly pre-planned bandaid.
A pack including no premium currency is the biggest ask for sure.
I've been reading a lot of the posts on the forums and the amount of shills and white knights is astounding. These people don't seem to realize it's not just an issue of price, but an issue of setting a precedent for a scummy, predatory practice that could continue to happen going forward. Other than artificially inflating the price with premium currency some people don't want/need, DE apparently broke their promise about not making any more timegated bundles after their Founders Pack was over with.
Obviously the lack of individual skin bundles is an issue too. Not to mention that DE has also locked some members of their community/playerbase out from being able to even consider getting the bundles. Not everyone is in the position to p**s away real money on the game. Some of us rely on the ingame market to trade for plat so we can buy the things we need/want. Meanwhile, others could probably only afford/budget maybe $20 to $30 at most.
10 years is a huge milestone we should be celebrating. Instead we have DE releasing content(if you consider skin bundles as content) to milk more money out of their community. This has then resulted with the community arguing amongst itself over these cosmetic bundles on top of having to push back on DE.
Not sure why so many people have a hard time understanding the precedent this sets.
If DE released each heirloom skin for $15 (deluxe tennogen skins are $7 and DE made deluxe skins are about $10 if they cost 200 plat and you bought plat without any discounts) and made it available forever but people who buy it in 2023 get the accolade on their profile I think that the vast majority of people would have been fine.
People that bought it wanted the exclusivity, making them available forever is kinda against the entire point of the pack.

Funny enough, I think if they did split the bundle. People will still be inclined to get both of them, it's just the option is there. Them saying they can't do it, feels disingenuous.

This makes me sad, recently League of Legends and Riot games have done something similar with a skin for 200€ and they know they WILL make money of it. Simply because some people rly like that character and want to 100% them. I bet there are some people who have 100% of Frost/Meg stuff and are rly annoyed by this.
I hope the Warframe community holds strong and shows them on top suits that stuff like this shouldn't be a thing.
I have 4 mag primes with different looks and the original mag that put me on this journey 10 yrs ago. the urge to get her heirloom skin is strong but I don't want to encourage this practice.

The way they easily could have made these a new teir of skin in the main shop that we could just buy independently. Also i hate that these are exclusive to their prime versions that in itself is garbage. Its fine right now since mag and frost are cheap but what happens when we get a more expensive frame.
I think a platinum only option isnt asking for alot at all.
warframes deluxe style skins have nearly always been able to be bought wit h lat one way or another.
if these skins where a celebration of the community then make it accessible to the larger portion of the community (free to plays)
that is part of the dam reason warframe has existed for so long
the second they start pulling blizzard moments like this is where that kind of good will ends and we now have to fear that this game that we trusted and respected for how they monetized it now goes out the window
I think a reaction to the heirlooms was completely necessary, and DE shouldn't get away with overpriced shit like this. However, I'ma keep it a buck, the community managed to somehow hyper-over-react to the situation, and it's so incredibly sad and obnoxious.
sadly scorched earth is the only way we can ensure this dosent happen again.

I know what you mean, but fundamentally, 90 bucks is a lot of money (I’ll just use the USD price for consistency). I personally find FOMO marketing distasteful in games, especially in Warframe where items don’t have to go through FOMO since most of it is able to be acquired through gameplay loops/ trading instead. So, a 10 year anniversary pack releases with a limited timeframe for purchase (and a supply limited to only those who purchase). That makes sense for the sake of an anniversary package, but combining that $90 pricetag with FOMO is a bit predatory considering how impulsive gamers typically are with spending their money (Plenty of the Warframe veterans I know have spent thousands).
It’s just not close to an equal exchange of value. And when that sort of marketing is being used on your customerbase, it only seems natural that such a reaction would ensue. They have professionals working at DE, and to have expected little backlash is naive of them - not to say this reaction was always going to happen as it did exactly, but that angst among the community (and their wallets) was a given no matter what, and DE should have decided this better. It’s their fault, not so much the players, for this reaction.
I think this reaction was warranted, we have all had that feeling of betrayal when a live service game devolves into a money grab and we desperately don't want Warframe to go down that path

The other bad thing about this pack, is that it's locked behind $$$$$$.
Alienating a MASSIVE portion of the Free to Play playerbase. Even if it were an absurdly priced plat buy, it wouldn't be so bad, as it would be farmable. Keeping us playing the game is LITERALLY the design of the game.
Prime Access loot is farmable, aside from the attachments which can be bought for a more acceptable amount of money. None of which are a limited time 10 year celebration, and return later via Regal Aya, saving you even more money.
With FOMO like this, we might as well call it planned Sunsetting.
I did not want to celebrate 10 years of warframe by opening my wallet.
I really want them but $70 for the skins + aya or $90 for the big bundle is absolutely ridiculous. They're skins, not fing prime access. Way overpriced and should have been put in game market for plat. I'd be more willing if they ditch the aya and just put the frames in the bundles
I bought it, but now I can't order any Delivery/Fast food for 2 months. That's my trade off and it was still a multiple hour consideration before making the purchase.

If this had anything to do with celebrating 10 years of Warframe, these skins would've been the end rewards for doing every week of the nostalgia alerts or at the very least be available for plat. Instead, they open with the predatory FOMO shit, walk back some of it and then claim "they're listening to the community".
It's a dance Destiny 2 players know all too well and sadly it seems DE is taking a page from Bungie's book on how to squeeze more money out of their loyal customers.
The changes still don't address the fact that it's only two skins. If it was like four or five skins on top of the other stuff then the price would be more acceptable.
It's also very ironic that high up execs are probably showing an interest in the IP due of its success, are the same people who would run it into the ground, simply because they don't get why its successful.
If they get rid of the fomo, I'll be grand!

I would buy the frost skin if I could buy just the skin for a reasonable price. Having the only options being expensive bundles full of things I don't want is disappointing.

I struggle to see separate skin set bundles still coming out as out of the realm of possibility.

There's a few genuinely good gaming companies out there for: Poe, gw2 and Warframe. (That I can think of). Just remember how good we have it compared to the competition
i dont even play mag and frost, tbh I barely see them in public matches. so already the target audience for these skins are less and they are asking price of at least 2 new AAA games. which is BS
i live in argentina so those 1 decade packs are actually a double no for myself and a couple of buddies who play with me. i actually myself found out it was cheaper to get myself wisp prime latest bundle since it brings 4k plat wich is enough for a life time, and it is actually cheaper than those mag/frost bundle, AYA is an aberration and should not exist if you ask me. i would've preferred to be given the option to get either frost OR mag. -mag is nuts and i don't play frost. the plat change megan posted over the forums is nice, but does not justify the bundle even if it is a heirloom once in a lifetime, i can pass, i'll just wait for that sweet revenant deluxe.
It just feels like everything about this is wrong. I don't know if it's DE's fault, or Tencent's fault, but whomever decided to put these bundles out there at these prices doesn't care about the Warframe players or any kind of "10 year celebration", and it shows.
I just wish skin's THIS detailed should change abilities too. Like it's just odd they didn't

TBH I really don't care about the FOMO aspect of cosmetics, because at the end of the day its just skins that add literally nothing to the actual game itself. If they released a weapon/ frame/ companion, etc and gave that FOMO, that's when I would have a serious issue. And I actually kind of like that there are some cosmetics that people are able to show off as a "I was here" kind of thing. I mean, just look at the Tennocon tickets that have had exclusive "FOMO" cosmetics in them since they were a thing, and no ones had any issues with those.
I do agree though that they need to get rid of the Aya at the very least. Aya from the vary start has been such an obvious way of scurting their overinflated plat currency for unsuspecting people who dont know better.
And they should have split the packs from the very start to let people buy the skins separately. That was a lesson they were supposed to have learnt a long time ago when they got chewed out by Stephanie Sterling (previously Jim Sterling) back when they sold their vaulted prime bundles for straight up cash, where if you wanted to buy the accessories you were forced to buy the warframe and weapons along with it.
One thing I HATE seeing is when companies repeat the same mistakes over and over again in an obvious ploy to try and squeeze more money out of people.
It makes absolutely no sense other than for slimy profit thay, to celebrate 10 years, they don't have a F2P path for at least some items in it (by F20LP I mean plat-purchase).
I hope they never ever repear such a thing. It can easily kill community trust and create skepticism for any future content, whether warranted or not.
