"Don't be making any tiktoks telling people how to buy cars!" That statement RIGHT THERE should prove to every single person, without a shadow of a doubt, that dealerships are SOLELY out to rip you off in one way or another.
At 25, I went into a dealership to buy my first new car, after going through 3 sales people and 6 different negotiations I gave up and walked out. A month later I bought a slightly used car from a nice older couple. 20 years later still have not bought my first new car, never will.
It's even worse, some dealers will tell customers with cash in hand to take financing at 8% rate and tell you it's a better deal, "you can go on vacation or invest your money 8% is nothing you just have a 780 credit c'mon man" 😂
Let's say MSRP is the $25,059.00 price. No add-ons. There's nothing wrong. You want the vehicle for $25k OTD. That means the vehicle price would have to be around $20k. The dealership probably buys it for $24k, at least. They have to lose money, to sell it. Yea. The bank approved him for a certain amount of money, so why not shop for a vehicle that costs that much?
The first salesman seemed nice but once he got to the manager and the two trying to sell him all the maintenance packages you could tell they wanted to shake him up for all his lunch money
No, it's "the folks who come in here with the art of the deal are usually business reps and fleet reps who are entitled to special treatment" question.
Idk I get this question to and I'm none of those things. I'm just not an idiot and know how they make up their numbers. Also payments is irrelevant. Out the door price and interest rates is what matters.
I just had such a good experience. Didn’t buy as car wasn’t right for me comfort wise but they were honest and upfront and no games . They knew I knew my stuff and commented on it lol.
The last guy said "You expect us to pay the DMV fee for you?". No but you can go ahead and take the extra $33 off the other BS fees youre already charging me
Most states require the dealers to include the dmv fees, that's typically half of the around $600 "dealer fee" that isn't included in the sticker ask price.
Killing with kindness is literally the best negotiating tactic as the buyer, it works for me every time and instantly reveals salesmen intentions so you can weed out the BS immediately. Well done
A dealer tried to sell me a base corolla at 30k. I told them I had an offer from another dealer at 24,5 and magically their price came down to 24,5 out the door (the correct price) and so I bought it. It was true, but I could have easily just made it up. Hope this helps someone. Don’t pay a cent more than you need to.
I worked at a kia dealership for 6 months and the amount of knowledge I gained gave me enough ground to not be screwed overpaying in bs fees again. Always check all the numbers that lead up to the out of the door number. I only pay the price of the vehicle, taxes, processing fee and that’s about it, if you see a platinum plan or anything bs fees, don’t do the deal till they take that out, also go at the last day of the month, everybody wants to hit their sales quota and you can get a good deal
@@stephaniemetts1098Technically dealer fees are not mandatory but no dealer will remove them. Most likely they will offset them against something else. Check out CarEdge and Delivrd, they have a lot of good stuff on how to negotiate with car dealers.
@@noeezyfluff , the customers chasing for a discount are just the same as the salespeople. It's kill or be killed. The salesperson either takes the buyer's money or the buyer takes the salesperson's commission. Most Toyota dealers pay less than minimum wage if every deal is a mini commission. A salesperson can afford 3 or 4 mini deals a month, but not 12. They are just working to feed their family, just as you are working to save money for yours. No, he's not. The price they wanted was a huge ripoff to begin with. Almost thirty thousand for a Corolla. All he did was bring it back to normal. He didn't negotiate some slick super deal here. And they still got him with in house financing and an add on package.

I'm a salesman and yeah you were negotiating for an aggressive deal but very respectful and you were committed to buy something the same day that's always a huge plus into having the dealership work with you because they know you aren't wasting their time , congrats on the car and shoutout to the dealer for taking the deal as well
Well it says pick one, ceramic coating is obviously the most expensive one with less wiggle room, the undercoating would never cost $1100 so that's why there was more room for adjustment, like do you think the windscreen coating would have cost that?
It’s happened to me . The offered me window tinting & interior paint protection on an 8 year old car I was buying at the dealer. I immediately declined, and the price came down by 25% . Didn’t get paint protection, but went & got the window tinting done elsewhere for 50% less…
This videos shows me two things, that street parking will eventually lead to your car getting sideswiped. And that it’s possible to negotiate a car at a dealership. Congrats on the new rolla
The key is sticking with the number you give them, and be ready to walk out if they cannot get down to it. Most people make an emotional choice when buying a car instead of a logical one. Dont fall for that trap! Cars are also NEVER (save for collectibles) investments, they are tools and depreciating assets.
Totally right about the sideswipe!Actually got sideswiped by a moving truck just before Christmas, got a nice payout from insurance with 0 impact on my rates since you cannot be at fault in this case obviously. So go park your cars in the street y’all 🤣

My sister hada crappy 2000s Hyundai that she sold to buy a new Sentra. That car was cursed, because on 3 separate occasions, 3 different spots, within 2 years, her car was hit while parked on the busy street out front. Twice rear ended by two different gen Priuses, and one sidswipe (and hit and run) by a Raptor. I saw two of them happen with my very eyes (Well the raptor was on security cam, but I saw it drive past my window seconds before it happened.) Sister sold the car and bought a new Camry, base trim. She now parks in the driveway and Mom and Dad park on the street. 😂 I NEVER park on busy streets, or in corner parking spaces, or next to cars who are beaten up or show signs of having a baby ride in it (careless mothers) I'll gladly walk longer distances over having to deal with insurance & repairs.
I don't understand why you have to put it like that. If you want a price just go to CarMax and pay what's on the sticker. If you choose a dealership it's because you want to haggle.

If you tell them you’re going to give them a negative satisfaction survey you’ll never receive it. Don’t even leave such a comment online. Just smile and nod when they mention it 😀

You have to go through that many people, checks, and balances because dealerships are fundamentally a business where negotiation is at it's core. They're selling durable goods not consumer discretionary. If we couldn't haggle on prices we would be buying straight from the manufacturer via a self checksout kiosk.

Awesome video! Fourdasher, you did a great job. Big takeaways for everyone, 1. Be willing to tell them you can go somewhere else 2. Show you aren't emotionally attached 3. Mention Out The Door negotiation, cash + finance (in reality any extra information only helps the dealer to scalp, they shouldnt care what you do if you're good for it)
This was a very strong negotiation for a new Toyota. Ignore the people saying that they wouldn't pay the inflated processing fee, they can't see the forest for the trees. The dealership could make the processing fee $20,000, so long as the out the door price remains at $25,500. You negotiated based on out the door pricing, which is definitely the best strategy. I also understand eating the $33 at the end of the deal, just to get out of the dealership. The only thing I think you should have done differently is to decline the undercoat protection. There is a strong school of thought saying that undercoating does more harm than good. Overall, excellent negotiation.
This joker at the end is a clown. Theyre already charging you $999 doc fee. And they agreed the deal was $25,500. The DMV is a flat fee. Hes full of it. The DMV has a set fee for title transfer, reg, and plates. This guy you worked with at the end sucks. He can eat the $33, thats what the dealership agreed to.
yup. Acid rain lol. I just bought a new truck and it was a no for everything. They try their hardest though! Feels pretty good to listen knowing I'm about to say no at the end haha
When he said he will be doing 3rd party undercoating and she starts going on about how “well when other people do it it may not be the best job and your gonna have to end up getting it re done and it’s gonna cost more in the long run” like she literally pulled that STRAIGHT out her ass.
I'm not even done this video yet but this is absolutely fantastic. I can admit that when I bought my first car, I was nervous, my parents were with me, I had good credit, I was a salesman's wet dream. Needless to say, I definitely overpaid and got suckered into warranties I have never (to this day) used. Seeing you handle these dealerships with such finesse and firmness while still being polite makes me excited for my next car. Thank you for the upload!
I hate dealerships, they smile and joke around with you as they try to joke and convince you that you're always wrong and don't know what you're talking about. I can guarantee you that they are not undercoating that vehicle at the dealership or anywhere for that matter. They just bet on you never getting underneath the car.
Yeah, I was leery, so I asked for pictures when they were finished. And I did definitely smell it on the car when they finished, so theres that at least. As to how thorough the job was, I'm not too sure.
@fourdashergames ... So... They did the undercoating... While you were at the dealership... Signing the paperwork... Sure... Didn't seem like there was enough time... To do that... After... You had said... Yes... To the agreed upon pricing for the undercoating... Considering... How thorough the job was to be performed... You know... The whole claim of protection that you will get... By having the dealership perform the job... Plus... They way she said... It would have to be done at a dealership... And all... On the plus side... Having it done... Before many miles are put on the vehicle... Is a good thing... I reckon...
Good job you, my blood pressure was high just listening to the dealers. As far as undercoating goes, no such thing as lifetime undercoating. The only ones that works is the oilbased ( Fluidfilm,Rustchek, Crowncoat etc.) undercoating that needs to be applied periodically, every year or two and costs $1-200 for a sedan. The solid stuff the dealers use has been proven to shorten the life of the car frame. .
Good job on focusing on the Out The Door Price! People need to learn to NEVER negotiate on monthly payment. Always keep the conversation on the Out The Door price. The resulting monthly payment, will be what its going to be.. As a buyer you NEED to know the LOWEST PRICE they're willing to sell the vehicle. Way to stand your ground with these guys.
You sir are 100% correct.....I never discuss $$$ with the salesperson other than the OTD, money discussions goes through the finance guy, all I need from the sales person if the OTD, then move me along your assembly line.....
I've sold cars in the past- and here's why I don't focus on OTD, because that allows them to include a doc fee and maybe a hyper inflated "electronic filing fee". I want to see ALL the line items so they can ALL be negotiated separately. I want to know and see the sale price, the required state fees, and whatever fees the dealership is adding. Then you go to hacking
@ You do know that the OTD includes all that you mentioned, and if it doesn't then you walk, first red flag. You tell them up front, I want it to include EVERYTHING which is the term OTD......
@joegrahe3958 That will all be listed on the worksheet. So they break down all the charges when giving you the OTD price. Anything you see that looks like BS, you continue negotiating. ALWAYS discuss the OTD price. Negotiating the monthly payment is insanity, the dealership will hide so much crap you'll pay thousands more than what you should.
lol "how are we supposed to know what the tag fee is going to be?" "well gee frank, I sorta figured that would be your problem what with the whole tag tag and title included thing"
Nah, 10k miles with full synthetic oil is perfectly fine. All our cars reached 250k miles on 10k mile intervals without a problem with one even has over 300k miles.
The Millenium package? 🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣 Excellent job in patience. I would have walked out as soon as he said no to my first offer. You have to play the game in this market. Just when you think your done negotiating, the finance manager hits you up for another round. Its painful
The fact that we have to do this as a society is insane. For me it's not even about the money it's about them being all smug and trying to screw me over. I haven't ever bought a car from the dealership, but I have had to deal with real estate agents which are basically the same thing.
@@danielyzy7857 there being an exception to the rule out there somewhere does not help us. You can’t beat them. Bought a car in July, used similar tactics. Gave them my price , they agreed, signed the paperwork and when I got home the math didn’t add up. Went back to finance and they said there was a $299 “prep charge” that was not listed anywhere as such. It was just added to the price of the car later in the contract. I’m in the market to buy a car right now. Stumbled across his 1st video about a week ago. Glad to hear he’s still in command when buying. I’m going to channel my inner Caleb when I go to the dealer!
When buying our car we spent all day at the dealership. Literally from 9:00 am until 8:30 pm when I finally drove off the lot with the car. During the haggling process I tried to leave three times but they would stop me and start all over again. Our salesman was great. But the managers and top dude were like a Vegas casino. I had a number in my head and I stuck to it. I also never disclosed my intentions of paying for the car all in cash until their final deal was presented. They were not happy with that tactic. But I knew they had to sell me the car. They had a system where with every sale they would ring a bell and list on a large board the car and salesman. All day there were only two vehicles sold with ours being the third. We got the car but they were visibly annoyed with us. My wife spun the wheel and won $200 but we never received the check in the mail lol. All that and I know they still made money. We figured they netted a little over 2k profit when they were originally gunning for around 7k. I called my salesman three days later and he said he had quit. Not because of anything we did. He said it was such an unpleasant place to work at. Edit: we refused all the extras in the finance department.
Good video, I like that you stood your ground on what you wanted the price to be as opposed to last time when you moved up a bit. I also liked how you included the finance office aswell.
It will still start rusting thru a tiny spot and it will travel under the coating no problem. Now you still end up with rust but you can't even see where or how bad it is.
He didn't really negotiate though. He obviously pre-calculated what a reasonable out the door sales price was and then just called their bluff to see if they'd let him walk on it or not.
I mean, walking out on a 33$ fee is negative value for me. I might ask to bring in the sales team or manager to enforce the out the door price but I ain't walking out over 33$ after getting an amazing deal otherwise.
I use your last video as reference to go buy my 2022 Civic in last August. I was able to negociate hard like you for an hour +, I won the car at 21,500$ CAD instead of 27,300$. Thanks man !

A video I would appreciate would be the planing bedore heading to the dealership. I’ve worked in sales and pretty much in a group our job is to try and recoup losses from the deal whenever people haggle this much. Yeah you got a good price at the start but now you gotta deal with someone else whose job it is to get back at you in another way. It’s all psychology and emotionally pulling strings to get you back to where they want you at on price overall for the store. Now imagine if he paided what they wanted him to out the door and on top of getting him on two or three more packages. Car would’ve been 32k plus and that’s orgasmic for them
Very good job!!! When we look to buy, I never discuss money/rates before test driving. Before test driving, I have narrowed my potential cars down usually to just a couple. In addition, I have already determined MY BEST DEAL by looking at KBB and other sources to see what the lowest possible price is that I can purchase their car for. In addition, I have already put all numbers (offer price, doc fee, non tax fees, tax rate, interest rates) into a spread sheet that will give me monthly payments at different rates (get rates from my CU's). I do call the dealers before I go in to find out all of their fees. Once I get to numbers, I give them what I think they can sell the car for and if I have a trade, I give them that number too. Then, the back and forth starts. I hold firm as you did. Again, great job on holding firm!!!! They played the game and you had a great game plan. I have never gotten to the finance manager and had the numbers change like they did for you on the DMV amount. I think most dealers pad that fee because on the last car we purchased we got a $15 refund a few weeks after we bought. This is in NC.
@topshelfdustin3060 in colorado, you're lucky not to pay a markup on top of fees&taxes the fact that the final price was 25k and they ate the tax&fees. I'd say that's a pretty damn flexible dealership. Do this same scenario in co, and the dealership would immediately lose interest in selling the car, and dismiss you to look around
The out the door price is the out the door price. I would have walked on the extra $33 I like how they bring Miss sweet talker in to up sell you on additional items and they are going to go broke by discounting the undercoating which doesn’t cost them much.

The dealership probably buys it for $24k, at least. They have to lose money, to sell it. Yea. The bank approved him for a certain amount of money, so why not shop for a vehicle that costs that much?

Buying a car from a dealership especially a new car is one of the most unpleasant experiences in purchasing any item I can think of !
But they pride themselves on their "service", how dare we question how they managed to make it illegal to buy direct from the manufacturer right?
Depends on the dealership
They want it like that. They know American consumers are weak.
I just had such a good experience. Didn’t buy as car wasn’t right for me comfort wise but they were honest and upfront and no games . They knew I knew my stuff and commented on it lol.
It’s only unpleasant if you try to give them no profit. This is a business and everyone wants to get paid.
The last guy said "You expect us to pay the DMV fee for you?". No but you can go ahead and take the extra $33 off the other BS fees youre already charging me
Yes, because you are expecting me to pay your "dealer business license tax" of $49.57
Yep, sure do. Because you made me sign an agreement that says that
Most states require the dealers to include the dmv fees, that's typically half of the around $600 "dealer fee" that isn't included in the sticker ask price.
Also its not like the taxes are "coming from them". Its a nonsensical distinction he is making.
yea exactly they charge 1k for "processing fee" aka doing 30 min of paperwork in an office, an absolute ripoff. they can take 33 off that
Killing with kindness is literally the best negotiating tactic as the buyer, it works for me every time and instantly reveals salesmen intentions so you can weed out the BS immediately. Well done
My new formula is Internet sales as first shots across the bow. Then you go armed with a beginning framework.
No the best tactic is to not tell them much. And negotiate price in the middle of the invoice and MSRP. And be willing to walk they will call you back
A dealer tried to sell me a base corolla at 30k.

It all comes down to the product being used and how it is applied.
This part alone is why I HATE dealers. If they have to resort to nickel and diming, they shouldn’t be in business.

Good job on focusing on the Out The Door Price! People need to learn to NEVER negotiate on monthly payment. Always keep the conversation on the Out The Door price. So much b.s. on the add ons. The so-called warrantees will never pay off.

A video I would appreciate would be the planing bedore heading to the dealership. How you find the price online, what price you decide to walk to the dealership willing to pay, how you handle the pre approval on ur loan and the cash check you decide to put down on. All the setup would really help out for us who have never been to a dealership before!
That's a great idea!
@@fourdashergamesThere's a lot of tools online but showing the process would help a lot of people out. I bought a new car back in October of last year and used all sorts of services including Caredge.
i bought a vehicle around the same time as this guy last year, i couldn't get any negotiations, all vehicles were over MSRP due to shortage.
now times are a little better and i am on the hunt for a mid sized SUV cause someone t-boned my 2024 Honda CR-v and totaled it.
didn't think i would be purchasing another vehicle so soon.
this guy is a master of negotiating!
wild how we both bought a new vehicle around the same time and both our vehicles got totaled around the same time!
I'm sorry your vehicle got totaled, too. The similar timing is definitely odd!
the aura that must be felt when he walks into a toyota dealer must be astronomical
They feel him coming from miles away for sure
I love the last minute upsell for add on crap!
Pretty cheezy having the rock music in the background. Good job negotiating!
They sat me right under the speakers 💀
I got exactly what I wanted in my new '24 WRX. Once they saw A+ credit rating, i instantly had them remove doc fee (499), window tint (300ish) & sun shade (50). OTD 33.5k, 2.9%, & 513/month. Having the credit is a huge advantage over stealerships. In the end if you dont get the deal - take that nice approval to next one & you'll see the squirming commence. Enjoy
They should have fully disclosed every last fee that you would be paying up front! I watch Earl On Cars every Saturday and have for over 2 years! You almost got taken! Good on you for standing your ground! Well done! Mark in Iowa.
I agree about them disclosing every fee! I was like, really, you guys can't take that out of the 999.00 "processing" fee? But because it was only $33 I didn't make too big a fuss.
@@fourdashergames I would have said, ok, show the $999 fee but deduct same amount from my total price, win win....
Glad to see that there is still a dealership, that's willing to make a deal. They wanted your business! Nicely done!
Thank you! It probably helped that I waited until the last weekend of the month
This is becoming a series and I’m all for it
I'd rather go to the dentist for a tooth extraction than go to a car dealer.
In defense of the dealership I don’t think they’re trained to extract teeth
What was the millennium package? We clean the new car for the $1600?
I always say to the salesman I don't care what the payment is I care what the price is. The payment will take care of itself.
He said don’t upload any tiktoks on how to buy cars LMAOOOO
I am about to get a carolla hybrid. Love the video. I really needed it. Honestly thank you
Glad you found it helpful!
@@fourdashergames @JC-tr3th ~ remember you (buyer) always have the upper hand over the car dealership as you have the money that they desperately want. be willing to walkway if required and have a little business card with you with your first name and an email address or phone number on it to give to them and say “contact me when you can give me a better price” and walk out if they don’t offer a driveway price you like
Expect it to go a lot less smoothly than this. This is downright impossible in some regions where they're still managing to artificially keep supply below demand, or where the dealers are refusing to accept the reality that the shortages are mostly over because the pandemic has been over for years now.
@@theredscourge with the economy slowing down and credit getting tighter there will be less and less "foot traffic" coming in to look for new cars. Deals will be coming as the cost of financing for the dealership to keep cars on the lot climbs. Until you own the car who do you think is paying interest of the car inventory on the lot? The dealership... each day that car sits on the lot costs them money and slow depreciation as next years model is released. Keep this in the back of your mind when new car shopping :)
@@Rob-wx2rq Yeah, the days of inventory statistic is a great way to get a deal on a new car, sites like CarEdge let you get that data in the US. Unfortunately usually the reason that a car is sitting on the lot is no one wants it because it's known unreliable, or no one trusts that brand anymore. Sadly, with Toyota, they've consistently had well under 30 days worth of inventory for sale at any one time, and in fact there's still a multi-year wait time for GR Corollas, Siennas, and almost all plug-in hybrids, as demand way outpaces supply. Toyota remains the worst brand to buy from because their sales people know there's always a greater fool to sell to if they can't get you to agree to pay for all their scumbag markups.
Thanks for staying firm and not giving into their greedy tactics. It reminded me why I want dealerships to close and the whole experience to move online.
The last bit - he could've reduced the dealer processing fee by the same amount - THAT is up to them.
Shows why people want dealerships to go away and be able to just order a car without sll the fluff and back and forth.
It's easy for a person that can't negotiate. Problem is that the profit is guaranteed to be fixed and you can't get the maximum discount.
See Tesla, guaranteed profit. Easy, yes, but you'll never have a chance to negotiate for anything lower than invoice.
@bucdan9242 people do not want the back and forth anymore. I will be buying my next car from Tesla just so I don't have the horrible dealer experience. They play too many games.
@@jessewarren9177 even when you know Tesla probably had a 10k profit margin baked into every sale? But I completely understand.
@bucdan9242 100% willing to pay extra to not have that BS dealership experience. People want to order cars like they order off Amazon. It's that simple. Why do you think carvana was such a HIT! I would rather go to the hospital than go through the hours of back and forth at the dealer it's awful.
@@jessewarren9177 You can hire a car consultant to do the negotiations for you. They only cost about 1k-2k, instead of 10k.
19:20 this is the laugh of a man who knows he isn't lying, but only on a technicality lmao
💯😅
They forgot to charge you the showroom admission fee.
don't forget the extra fee for keys, the additional overcharge, the madam or sircharge, and the finder's fee (you found the car thanks to them after all didn't you 🤣)
I really hate dealing with car salesman. Your playing there game and it’s hard to win
@@johnhall32 Salesmen* You're* Their*
You’re too nice. Last time I visited a dealer I ended up yelling at the shysters for trying to rip off my daughter
This is gold!!! Great job man. Still got stuck with a stupid fee at the end but we'll worth it.
Finance got him on undercoating-pure profit from a spray can.
That’s what it would cost you anywhere else though, so not really.
Undercoating does more bad than good after the salt gets behind it. Traps it in and destroys it from the inside. Do a yearly fluid film and have it last for much longer.
Undercoating is a scam. He folded like a lawn chair.
Right and they always come with that one and the stupid seat treatment.
No getting it right when brand brand new is best. That gets it on before there's a chance to get scratching and gets rusting.
It's crazy how it goes from one person to try to extract money to another person, and then another person. These dealerships, man.
So they advertise $1000 but then say there is a special that includes everything else for an extra $500 and then somehow the undercoat can be done for $450. Thats wild...
Car would’ve been 32k plus and that’s orgasmic for them
You did everything right. You are an absolute inspiration to us all
Very good job!!!
Man I would have walked if I ran into that last guy. He’s so condescending
What are you talking about these salesmen where some of the most flexible people I've ever heard almost too flexible as in fake 🤔
I woulda canceled the whole deal for the $33
It’s the principle… he knows damn well it was 25500 all in out the door
@@angrybeavergarage1247 you have more tolerance than me. I'd have lost it.
Should’ve kept the post-finance part where you go up to your salesperson and tell them they “forgot” to mention the extra $33
The out the door price is the out the door price. I would have walked on the extra $33 I like how they bring Miss sweet talker in to up sell you on additional items and they are going to go broke by discounting the undercoating which doesn’t cost them much.
Called the "ming mole" Always there to prey upon the man thirst. Those products which are third party sourced by the dealership and thus you are also able to diy cost them about $300 for the entire packs. There are no magic products they use. Rain-x? Sure, scotch guard, etc. And remember if the car needs those products then it's not fit for market. And warranty? Not covered by the dealership, covered by the third party source.
crazy that they went down $1000 for the undercoat within less than a minute, goes to show how overpriced these services are
Dude u are a freaking savage.💪 Enjoying this video to the max. Congratulations 🎉
