There are actually magnet bands which are ment for sewing them inside of fabric eding to do that! You can also use magnet bands which are ment for holding temporary fligh screens. They can also be sown inside the edging. Maybe you could slide it in if you reopen those curtains just on one little edge. By the way, love the print and how excellent your first sewing project went! ☺️
Watch their older videos. She was much happier and participated more. She was the leader of the pack back in the day. Seems she lost confidence in herself with so many people watching her.
I use to make my living making interior design things like curtains, drapes, slip covers and so forth. You did great on the curtains. Good buy on the sewing machine also. Bernina brand is a good machine. You will enjoy doing lots of craft things and maybe you can teach Bell sewing also. My mother taught me to sew on a sewing machine when I was 5 yrs. old. She cut out a dress for me and I sewed it up to wear to school when I was in the 1st. grade. I'm 75 now and still love to sew.
I'd like to commend Doug for assisting Ashley with the curtains. I also want to say you guys did a great job making all the curtains the same length, that's what usually gives away first-time sewers. BRAVO!
Yay! A new seamstress! Your seams look nice and straight. Good job! I sew professionally-a tip for you is to sew your side seams first. Then your top and bottom hems will cover those side seams and make a good finished edge. Deeper bottom hems (3-4 inches) doubling the fabric, will help the curtains look professional and provide weight for straight hanging. Another panel will add the fullness you need for the rings to lay better and provide even more privacy. Another tip is to sew your hems as close to the folded edge as possible-about 1/8 inch for the best look. Good job on your fabric choice to bring all the bus colors together.
I agree with the above statement, but think for the first time, they came out well. Another thing I saw is the starting grommets should have been set in from the sides a bit further-but as I haven't made grommet curtains ( by choice) I may have made the same mistake even though I have been doing curtains for over 50 years. That sewing machine will open doors to a lot of pretty incredible things if you desire it too. Don't be shy about teaching the children to use it.
The curtains are just perfect. I don't think you could have found store bought that were so complimentary to the interior of the bus. You did a great job Ashley. Love the little sewing machine as well. Perfect for jobs like this. Can't wait to get on the road. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Oh , the vistas that have opened with the advent of the machine , a superb start to sewing . Adding even more independence and creativity to your lives . The curtains are a wonderful success , and the bus interior is to die for 🎶😊
You guys did an awesome job on those curtains, especially since this is your first experience with the sewing machine. Now that Ashley has discovered how much fun a sewing machine is, she will be inventing all kinds of new projects. And maybe Belle too! I love sewing machines and I have two of them! Do love the fabric too!
I so enjoy you all, you always make my heart smile. Thank you for being such wonderful family. May you make wonderful memories for many years to come. Love, Love, Love how the van has turned out.
The small window where clothes are going to hang.. how about getting supplies for daughter to draw her own designs on it? You all never cease to amaze me at your creativity. Awesome job!
Ashley, so good to see a happy smile with your joy on the curtains. Nice fabric choice. On the window edge, you can use a magnet to hold it tight to the wall for more privacy. On the closet window you could use the semi transparent frosted removable contact paper. There are several designs. You'll sure enjoy that ride. Good job.
I’m with Ashley - “it’s awesome... wow”. I was happy to see that you decided to sew the curtains, rather than using the iron-on tape to create the edges. Awesome!! 👏👏
Hi Friends, Sew cool, sew pretty, sew well made, sew perfect - that's "sew what", LOL!!! Wow, curtains really make a difference!!! It went from "just a bus" to a real "home away from home". Great job!!! Now get out and enjoy all your hard work and don't forget to take us along with you!!! Hi Ashley, you did such a fantastic job with your new sewing machine!!! You're a quick learner for sure!!! You made it look so easy when I know it isn't!!! Ya all take care, stay safe and enjoy your warm weather!!! Hugs n love!!!
The curtains look better than anything you get in the store! Just a suggestion...put velcro dots on the curtains to close the gaps. That's what I do and it works perfectly. Bravo!!!!
Beautiful fabric choice! They look great. If your van's temperature gets too hot or cold through the windows with these simple curtains (even though they look tinted to me) you could always DYI insulated covers using the same material on one side. But you won't know how comfortable the van's temperature will be until you take your first overnight trip. Also, great idea for the rods! Awesome job.
Ashley, the curtains look wonderful. Really learn the ins and outs on the sewing machine. You can do so much and the satisfaction you will get will surprise you. Best wishes from an old sewing lady. Your smile is beautiful!
Hey guys love the curtains I have 2 helpful hints for you. 1. Use wax paper and rub on the rods it will help the gromits slide better, might take a few applications. 2. If you have extra fabric, You might wasn't to add one more panel to your curtains there when closed they should still have a decent wave to them and not be so flat. There is a formula I think like 2x or 2.5x fabric to window opening .
Oh I was quick....hi from Adelaide Australia...with the closet window put a frosted glass stick on window film ..pick a design..Ebay.. but still let's light in...curtains are perfect, well done great sewing Ashley and Doug...love them rods
Oh! Well done with the curtains Ashley!! They look so good! Doug the way you set up the curtain rods was really clever. You two never fail to impress me. Great job! 😊❤
Brilliant. I noticed straight away that they make a difference to the acoustics in there, soak up a lot of sound, made it softer. Not lower, not harder to hear, just not bouncing off those windows. Changed again when you opened them. Love your bus, quite envious. You definitely deserve a nice trip in it shortly, and hoping your take us along. Greetings from Australia.
Just beautiful! Love the curtains so much. Nice and bright, sheer enough for light, but also adds a element of privacy. Grommets are way cool, too! Wonderful job!!! Can't wait for the tour, it's hard to remember all the awesome things you have done to convert this beauty! Well done!!!!
The conduit was great thinking! I love how the curtains turned out, and the interior of the bus is looking so, so awesome! Thanks for the tutorial; I have made curtains before, but have not used grommets, and I am interested in giving it a try.
Ok for your smoothness of the curtains sliding, I would maybe suggest wiping the poles with armorall wipes...I work in retail and when we would do resets in the clothing departments we would wipe the bars on the racks with armorall wipes and not only did it help clean them up but would make the plastic hangers glide smoother on the rack. Anywho...just a suggestion...those curtains look great ❤
Good job on the curtains, just a tip, if I may. Add 1/3 more fabric you need for the width and you should have a nice amount to “drape”. It helps with the opening gap too. For the front privacy curtains, consider a tension rod. We did that for many years in our RV. Just take down when not needed and tuck away, maybe under the bed.
Oh my gosh i was so expecting you to use iron tape that i actually made a squeal noise when you got the sewing machine out! Well done to you both for conquering the sewing and making wonderful curtains for your bus. I love them and they really are perfect for the bus.
What a pro Ashley!!!!!!! You did a great job!!!!!! The length is perfect. Glad Doug was assisting you and quality inspecting❤️Nice little sewing machine❤️ The colors are amazing! Thanks for sharing😊Have a great weekend❤️👍🏻
Your home away from home looks amazing!! Great job with the curtains. Ashley I have said this before but I want to say it again, I love your smile and I'm glad that you are having fun with this project. Can't wait to see the reveal!!
What a transformation the curtains make ...... just a suggestion with the pipes take them out n sand them smooth ... n spray then with automotive clear n they will slide easily
As an experienced sewer, I give you both an A+. On a side note, maybe you could find some rubber caps that they use on bed frames to put on those vertical steel frame pieces on your upper bed. They look sharp.
I used to work in a sewing Factory...so I do understand learning all about the machine when I was 18....it was stressful the first 2 weeks with learning to use the machine and speed that I had to go...but as you use it more you become less stressed.....nice job ! Love the curtain rod idea and your curtains came out very nice !!!
Oh yay! You got a sewing machine! You're going to have so much fun with it, I love mine, and yours is a good brand too 😊 the curtains look amazing! You did a perfect job! I can tell Ashley is very proud, and you should be, they're beautiful! Very satisfying when you can look at them and think "I made that!" 😊😊😊 so excited for you! ❤
When you first introduced the fabric and talked about Spoonflower, I told you I was waiting to hear if I got the job there - I did! I have been there for almost 6 weeks and I love it! It's great to work for a company that really cares about their employees!! I'm still temp, but crossing my fingers for permanent - soon! The curtains look awesome!! Great work Ashley!
Fun and bright colored curtains look so good. Watch Doug watching Ashley sewing i could see and feel his anxiety. Wants everything perfect. Just a little reminder Doug, nothing is perfect, and really shouldnt be. Life is more interesting and much more fun when there are imperfections. I call them adventures. Im loving the van, youve turned it into such a cute little home on wheels. So much to see in our beautiful country.
Sew a piece of velcro or sew a small magnet along the edge of the curtains seam to help the curtain close the cracks around window to keep people from seeing in.
I love that you used the ironing at the beginning, it can save you a lot of pinning and it helps keep things aligned. The grommets look wonderful, I've never used them but you make it look so do-able. I was thinking : In places where you might want the bottom of the curtains to stay closer to the wall ( maybe at the toilet, etc.) you can use magnets ( similar to the way plastic shower curtains cling to a tub. ) You wouldn't even have to attach them and they would likely cling to the window frame. But if your did it could easily be done with your fabric from the back side , either sewn or ironed "Stitch Witchery" . I am so pleased for you all the Bus looks absolutely AMAZING !!! God bless you all.
Well done Ashley those curtains are just so pretty, you're such an amazingly talented family, you make things look easy, even if we all know most things you tackle are not
Ashley you did a beautiful job on the curtains. I love to sew and you really mastered the job as always. Doug great rod idea. They really are pricey for the cheapest rods. I love everything turn out beautiful!
Doug, you are so much like my own sons. They are both always so willing to help their wives with anything that needs doing. It makes me so proud of them, as I'm sure your parents are of you. Ashley, you did a wonderful job of the sewing, (and ironing as you go along). I'm the same.. it just makes the job a little easier. Well done guys !!!. The fabric is so perfect for you little Oasis, and the colours are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.. am enjoying your videos. 💝
I absolutely love how those curtains came out. Maybe magnets instead of clips to hold the curtains together and at the end to close up the gap would be less noticeable. Great job!
Yea Ashley!!!!!!!! Oh yeah and Doug..LOL Those curtains are amazing:) Makes me happy just lookin at how festive they are. I guess I could call you guys Happy Campers :))) I love It. So nice. Fantastic job.... Love ya always, Granny.
Another project checked ,I bet travel plans are pending. Make some pillows for the beds with the extra fabric breaking up the blue , how about a cover for the captain's chair, oh how tropical! You two work so well together, teaching some very valuable lessons to the kiddos.❤
Great job on the curtains. You can magnetize the edges of the curtains. That will seal the two sides together.👍
Great idea. So while driving, curtains can be open, and closed for privacy when stopped.
Doug use PVC pipe
Doug use PVC pipe for your curtain rods
Great idea!
I don't ever remember seeing Ashley smiling so big and brightly. Great job. You can do anything!
Watch their older videos. She was much happier and participated more. She was the leader of the pack back in the day. Seems she lost confidence in herself with so many people watching her.
@@NoRmAsJeAnS82 I don’t agree with that. Take care

Nice curtains.....and since Belle is so creative, I can imagine her having so much fun learning to sew.

Now that Ashley has discovered how much fun a sewing machine is, she will be inventing all kinds of new projects. And maybe Belle too! I love sewing machines and I have two of them! Sewing was my passion as a kid. I made clothes, even underwear, curtains, pillowcases, etc... I have 2 machines and am teaching my grandkids to sew.
Those curtains change the whole look of the bus, looks amazing!😻
You both did a great job. Special kudos to Ashley with the sewing and narration.
I so enjoy you all, you always make my heart smile. Thank you for being such wonderful family. May you make wonderful memories for many years to come. Love, Love, Love how the van has turned out.

some cute dragons would be perfect!
Glad you picked a good starter machine. Great job Ashley!!!

Sticky back Velcro works nicely too
I’m with Ashley - “it’s awesome... wow”. I was happy to see that you decided to sew the curtains, rather than using the iron-on tape to create the edges. Awesome!! 👏👏
Great choice on colors in the curtain.....project has turned out just great. Your both so very talented! 👍👍👍

Doug loves his conduit. 😉
Instead of clipping the curtains together just hand stitch a little magnet to the fabric. They look great!
Brilliant idea ❤️
Great idea👍
or Velcro?
Thanks for the order! Your build is awesome and I am glad that you are finding our connectors useful. We appreciate the mention.
Love, love, love the curtains! Looks so cool! Colors match perfectly!

The first curtain is beautiful. It matches the bus nicely.
You guys work so well together. Great job! Teamwork makes the dream work! The curtains are beautiful 😍.
Ashley did an amazing job on those curtains and they match so well. I would use window film on your emergency door. Thanks for sharing.

I like the choice of material. Looks fantastic in the Oasis. You will not regret learning to use a sewing machine.
Ashley you did a great job on the sewing machine 👏👏 they look great xx 💕

Very nice !!! The curtains look great and love the potential in the sewing machine ❤️.
Amazing job on the curtains!! Perfection!! Stacks to the side when you open them.
What a transformation the curtains make ...... just a suggestion with the pipes take them out n sand them smooth ... n spray then with automotive clear n they will slide easily

Great job. Velcro could be a solution to holding the curtain panels together.
Looks awesome! These the whole color scheme together, just like you planned! I love the bright, shinny colors!
Oh yay! You got a sewing machine! You're going to have so much fun with it, I love mine, and yours is a good brand too 😊 the curtains look amazing! You did a perfect job! Great job, Ashley! The curtains look amazing!
Thank you
The curtain looks great. I’m happy for you. You’re almost finished with this project. Let the adventures begin.
Great job! Looks so cute, and fun!
I love the curtains Ashley! They look professional. You guys are awesome.
Your both so versatile! Neat BUS!!
Ashley love the curtains!! Great job!!! They look so nice inside the bus!!
Sew a piece of velcro or sew a small magnet along the edge of the curtains seam to help the curtain close the cracks around window to keep people from seeing in.
Ashley, the curtains are great. Good job! They really just tie eveything together!
They look fabulous well done
Well done Ashley those curtains are just so pretty, you're such an amazingly talented family, you make things look easy, even if we all know most things you tackle are not
Very pretty curtains that do indeed match the theme of your vacation bus! 😊
Awesome job, guys. Your new Bernette sewing machine is a wonderful buy!
I absolutely love how those curtains came out. Maybe magnets instead of clips to hold the curtains together and at the end to close up the gap would be less noticeable. Great job!
Congratulations on taking on a NEW THING TO LEARN!!!
You did FABULOUSLY
as well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I agree, they look GREAT
Yea Ashley!!!!!!!! Oh yeah and Doug..LOL Those curtains are amazing:) Makes me happy just lookin at how festive they are. I guess I could call you guys Happy Campers :))) I love It. So nice. Fantastic job.... Love ya always, Granny.
Beautiful Ashley.
I love the way the curtains turned out. Great job Ashley, you may have a new hobby!
Rub the conduit with wax paper. That is what we do in the retail world. Clothes hangers on metal rods will do the same thing.
Another project checked ,I bet travel plans are pending. Make some pillows for the beds with the extra fabric breaking up the blue , how about a cover for the captain's chair, oh how tropical!
You two work so well together, teaching some very valuable lessons to the kiddos.❤
