So, I mentioned in my review of "TRON: Legacy" that I am not a fan of Daft Punk. That didn't stop a bunch of people from requesting that I review this animated musical featuring a soundtrack made entirely of Daft Punk songs.
Can this movie rise up above it's shitbag soundtrack and provide something decent? Or, will the Eurotrash techno noise be too much to bear? Tonight, I will find out.
Not a fan of Daft Punk? Discovery is an all out masterpiece!!! And so is this movie!
Yes!
Ryan R. yes i know right
Ryan R. Imagine if Aerosmith made a movie out of toys in the attic or kiss made a movie out of destroyer, if you're not fan of those bands then it would suck.
Your the only person I know who hates Daft Punk.
I hate it so that makes two now.
dodokitty14
I don't know who you are.
iNvictas Studios Well he dosnt really hate it as much he thinks its mediocre at best.Basicly its not his true hate, but just a high dislike for the band.
I feel sorry for you that you don't like Daft Punk, but at least I'm cool with that. I watched this movie because I am a big, enthusiastic follower of Japanese anime & manga and that movie got me digging Daft Punk's music. I also like Megadeth as well, as they are certainly one of metal's greatest bands. I don't even think any other music would fit while watching this movie muted. If you want to watch a movie while listening to a rock or metal band, watch The Wizard of Oz while listening to Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd. You'll find instructions on how to do it as well. Also, I have, for a long time since, been wanting to get a rock band (probably something more progressive/experimental/avant-garde type) together and when we do a rock opera album, I have even been wanting to team up with a Japanese animated company to make an anime movie based on that album, mostly driven by the music but having a little dialogue and sound effects. But the storyline won't be like Interstella 5555, though.
I'm Never Been A Daft Punk fan Before
This is certainly the first instance i've heard anyone say they outright aren't a fan of Daft Punk, to each their own of course. I'm really interested in checking this out now!
I love Daft Punk, but I'll admit that Tron Legacy's OST was their worst work. It was unmemorable generic film score trash put through synths, other than Derezzed.
I'm a huge Daft Punk fan and I loved this film along with the soundtrack. I loved Emer's review on the film despite the fact he dislike the band. To each his own. Lol when I heard Emer hated One More Time I was in shock but not offended shock more like funny shock. Keep up the reviews!:) can't wait for your reaction and review to Alone in the Dark. Soon you will know my pain watching that film.
I have made it a life goal to start an electronic music group called The Spin Doctors of Techno. That was funny. Now I have something to do with my predictably solitary lunch breaks at college. MIDI lab, here I come.
Yeah, obviously if you're not a fan of Daft Punk or don't appreciate the music whatsoever this movie will leave you cold. My experience was completely opposite, this film made me a Daft Punk fan. I'd loved much of their stuff previously, but listening to the album with such focus while watching all that great animation and a fun story made me appreciate them and the album a lot more. All and all it's a pretty ambitious project in itself to create a music video for the whole album. But I kinda love the idea of having an alternative soundtrack. Maybe if you could find songs with similar lenghts to the originals you could make a weird mixtape film. 55/55, will watch again!
I LOL'ed when you read the title as it literally is!
The sad irony is, I'm a big Daft Punk fan, and yet, I have yet to even see this film. But after watching your review, I'm likely to track down a copy of it now.
Also, a fellow Megadeth fan? Sweet.
There are several playlists of the movie, as it is basically a collection of music videos.
The entire movie is on youtube
This was co-created by the legendary Leiji Matsumoto (Space Battleship Yamato, Galaxy Express 999, Captain Harlock), I would love to recommend Galaxy Express 999, as a R and R if you haven't seen it yet.
I laughed every time you said the title. There's a couple songs in here that I DO use to help me go to sleep. LOL Make of that what you will. Now that you've mentioned it, I think I will see how well some Blue Oyster Cult works with the visuals here. The songs songs I use to help me go to sleep, if anyone reading this is interested, are Digital Love and Something About Us.
First. There we go. Enjoy the video, guys.
I always found it hilarious the way Emer pronounced the title of this film.
A movie with Daft Punk songs all the way through? Fuck that.
Daft Punk is definitely overrated. I do however like some of their songs. Particularly Digital Love and the few other of their songs that aren't super repetitive.
Oh man! You should react to Electroma! Another Daft Punk film! It focuses a little less on their music and more on the idea of humanity.
Interesting review. I still want to check this movie out.
I personally like Daft Punk, I guess I'll like it.

eventually he got a better camera
Love the soul eater button
So Emer, I guess that you did not like Kanye Wests song Stronger.
Have you ever seen "Phantom of the Paradise"?
I don't mind a couple of Daft Punk songs but if I had to listen to this I'm sure that would change pretty quickly, good call on listening to it muted though.
Hey could you do End of evangelion,in case you already did, what did you think of of it, or the series in general?
OOOOH!! he's a metal head that makes so much sense
You think Daft Punk are boring? Watch their 'Electroma' movie. You will continue to think that. More. A lot more. Like, I love Daft Punk and that film's still torture to me.
Although I do admit, I hated Daft Punk's score to Tron Legacy.
I'm laughing at the Daft Punk nerds going nuts in the comment section more than the review itself
Hey, Emer quick question, do you like death metal?
hey emer.. i'm ur huge fan!! i love ur videos and reviews..they're really no bullshit..^.^ i'm 4m india.. i watched the review of the movie alag.. its unfortunate that u were talked into reviewing the movie thats really a bullshit and i think is a commercial and critical failure in india too.. i want u to review 'raaz the mystery continues',the dirty picture or the 3 idiots.. choose any 1! 1st one is a horror,2nd is biographical drama and the 3rd is romatic comedy drama.. i'd love to watch u reviewing anyone of these!! they'r all great.. and apologies 4 the music videos.. they'r actually important part of the indian cinema.. they seemingly increase the entetainment value in movies.. keep up the good work!! and u'r awesome...:-)
Hey emer can you please review a anime movie called "perfect blue" By Satoshi Kon?
Sorry, no. Since I have already seen it, I can't review it for this series.
I think I recall him saying he already saw it.
Yeah, I'm no fan of musicals, so I think I'm skipping it.
5555 is pretty "meh". Daft Punk is pretty "meh"(save a few songs.) Calling it "electro noise eurotrash is a massive overstatement.
I don't necessarily hate Daft Punk, but more I don't care about them. If I ever watch this on UA-cam, I might just try listening to Megadeth's Youthanasia just for the hell of it. XD
Also, would you ever do a Reaction and Review for the rock opera "Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem"?
Sadly, I cannot review Doomstar because I watched it when Adult Swim ran it. Sorry.
Also, please let me know how running Youthanasia with the movie works. I know I mentioned doing that in the video, but I was really just throwing an album out there. Now, I am curious how well that turns out.
Hnnnnnnn
"This song is a peice of shit"
Video stopped here, dislike buttom, and bye
