    Great episode the Undine are fun to fight. I like the Undine, races like the Blue Gil and Founders can't manipulate them like they can others and the Iconians have to use a indirect method. Which shows the Iconians are to afraid of them to deal with them directly.

      TNG had the Tin Man, but only one episode. That's the only one I can recall the name but there were a few very alien, but again, singular episodes. These extremely alien elements should have been woven into the universe rather than just as chapters which end the thread.

    • @tepacana6319

      @@aquariandawn4750 I did also really enjoy the tin man episode for the same reason, especially where the characters begin to understand this creature that is very unlike most others. It would've been really interesting to see how groups of Tin Men (to use the given name) behave, although that would've taken some gravitas out of the episode, seen as Gomtu being the last of their kind was a plot point if I remember correctly.
      Definitely agree that things that alien should've been a more present factor in star trek.

    Gotta correct ya. The Northwest Passage was originally a theoretical waterway that explorers and traders hoped would allow them to cut through North America. American explorers, Lewis and Clark, hoped that the Missouri River would prove to be it, but ultimately the theory of a Northwest Passage was disproven.
    Although sailing through Arctic and Antarctic waters allows ships to sail from the Atlantic to Pacific Oceans it doesn’t serve the same purpose as a NW Passage would since those routes are either incredibly roundabout and/or dangerous.
    The Panama Canal could be classified as a sort of NW Passage, but it lacks the vast trading opportunities that people hoped a route through the North American mainland would provide.

    Surak is the oldest katra anyone's ever met, right? But there must have been thousands of generations of Vulcans before him for them to have gotten to the point as a society where they had space-capable ships and nuclear weapons. What happened to the katras of those thousands of generations? And if Vulcans had telepathy before the time of Surak, why was it so easy for them to glass each other instead of mind melding to work out solutions in an honest and open way?
    So, what if Vulcan telepathy and katras are not actually naturally evolved traits? We know that they had a massive amount of technology at the point when they glassed their planet. What if when the survivors descended into the bunkers and caves to escape the radioactive fallout, while some people like Surak were off developing his philosophy of logic, other survivors decided to create a tool that would allow them to read each other's minds to prevent them from wasting their limited resources on more war? Or alternatively, maybe it was a bioweapon, a form of nanotechnology that was supposed to destabilize the minds of those who were infected and cause insanity and death. Or maybe it was a piece of military technology developed by one of the pre-war factions to aid their spies or soldiers.
    This would also explain why not all Romulans and Remans have mental powers---maybe not everyone was infected with the nano-tech before the Sundering.

    How would he know of the Zindi attack? It was all undone when Archer ended the temporal cold war.

    • @SampoPaalanen
      @SampoPaalanen 5 років тому +3

      It seems not, since a Xindi did refer to those events in a previous episode, so it seems it wasn't 100% undone.

    • @Qardo
      @Qardo 5 років тому +5

      In truth, the Zindi attack was not undone. If it was. Show like Discovery would not exist. As it turns out. The show of Discovery takes place in the Prime Timeline. Not the Kelvin Timeline.
      As the attack had a very profound impact on how Humanity and the Federation handles outward threats. And even going so far as to cover up events like Time Travel and the Mirror Universe. Even going so far as to have other captains like Kirk experience them and make them known and new. Though in secret. The Federation knew all along.
      Now you can argue how does that add up to the TOS series? Well, it can. As the topics of the Zindi was never brought up. The Klingon Cold War was still very warm. And Kirk was exploring parts of space. The Federation never been. All the while keeping a close eye on the Neutral Zone along the Romulan Border and the Klingon Border.
      Zindi for the most part of the TNG era were semi-forgotten about. As the Zindi had to redevelop their Warp Technology. As their area of space had changed and their old warp technology was useless. Plus they kind of kept to themselves after events of the Enterprise series as a peace was found and apologizes were given.
      Soon to the events of STO. The Zindi had slowly made a return to the known galaxy. Even having trade deals with the Federation.
      As a long time has passed since the attack on Earth by the Zindi. And generations had passed. It was time to start a new.
      After all. If you believe the who show of Enterprise was just some work of dramatizing history fiction. You clearly should know the Kelvin Timeline should not have happened. It should have been prevented. Yet it did and makes you wonder. What is the point of having Time Police Agents. And they allow a whole timeline to happen?
      The Temporal Agency has failed in its job a billion times. And I can point at Kathryn Janeway for all of this. As a future her brought technology from the future and fucked up the timeline. Yet I guess giving the Borg Queen the finger and fucking up the Borg Collective. Was maybe a good thing. Even bringing back Voyager a tad sooner than what History had written.
      Even giving Starfleet a better technology advance it needed to protect the Federation. So I guess it was a justified Time Travel?
      Though I guess if Sisko could get away with getting a living autograph of James T. Kirk in an accidental time travel. I believe the the Temporal Agency is corrupt as hell. Though I too would do the same thing. Hang it up on my wall and everything.
