Thank you for opening up the conversation about this topic. As a wedding MUA it’s soooo stressful for basically everyone involved.
It's so stressful for everyone! You are 100% correct!
COMMENT BELOW what your experience with weddings has been like recently! This could either be as a professional in the industry or a bride that's gotten married :) STAY TILL THE END for my embarrassing BLOOPERS HAHA!
Duuude!! I feel for my brides sooo much. They ask for anything and I want to bend over backwards to either do it myself just to help them relax. My random bag has everything from straws, meds, lady products to charging cables. The strive for them to just want it to be perfect I can tell takes away from the one day when it counts!
Right?! The competition for vendors and dates is insane and also an added stressor on top of being “perfect” or “the best.” It’s seems like anymore than everyone is just trying to one up each other. You are so amazing for trying to look out and be there for them as much as possible :) it shows how much you truly care!
I've been married for 22 years, we didn't spend much ( less than 4k) but that was due to being poor. I was the wedding planner, LOL and for food i had friends cook Costco lasangas, bag salad, dinner rolls. A friend did the flowers so got those at cost..., It was stressful coordinating everything for 250 people. If we would have had the money I would have had a vendor do everything, but we didn't have 18k. I would be scared to see the wedding costs for California, maybe that's why brides want perfection, when you're paying that much money, it better be perfect :)
Hey that sounds like an amazing wedding honestly! I’m jealous! You make a really great point though. I do think the “perfect” mentality does directly correlate with how much people are spending if not plays a huge role in it!
@@julieruby yes I do think costs plays a big role, however I'm sure social media also plays a role in that perfection mentality...and don't be jealous as you couldn't pay me to do it again, LOL
Can we talk about how beautiful you look Julie 😍 I love the red lip ❤ if you don't mind me asking what brand and name is it?! It's gorgeous on you 🤩🤩
Aw thank you so so much!! It's MAC Powder Kiss Liquid Lipstick in "Fashion, Sweetie"!
Planning my October 2024 wedding in New England and it is expensive! When we were looking over a year in advance almost all venues in 2024 were nearly fully booked! Vendors have been a struggle as well just to find availability!
Hi congrats on your engagement Brooke! I can't even imagine what a wedding in the New England area costs! The amount of competition for brides trying to find dates and venues is insane! Hopefully you were able to find the vendors that you really wanted :)
I love your makeup and that lipstick looks amazing on you ❤
Thank you so much!!
Appreciate all the research you put into this! As a makeup artist, I don't particularly enjoy doing bridal makeup anymore just because of the stress and need for perfection. I still do bridesmaids and MOB/MOG but even then, sometimes the person in my chair wants to look "perfect". I truly enjoy glamming up people and seeing their reactions but this need for "perfection" is sucking the fun and joy out of it. 😮💨
Thanks so much! I'm aiming to turn some of my videos into a video essay style as I have been loving this type of content recently. I definitely understand why you don't want to go into bridal. It is A LOT of hard work and mental strain especially with the idea of "perfectionism". I'm glad there are so many other niches in makeup artistry to choose from!
@julieruby looking forward to it!! Your videos are amazing, as always! 💖💖
I graduated with class of 1980 and we actually had a class, in high school, where we learned about both interior design and wedding planning. It was a very cool class!!! I still use her advice today when planning a new art project. We hope to have a simple wedding venue on our property one day, here, up on a hill in the middle of our woods. We are building a tiny chapel. ❤ I love weddings!!!
Oh that sounds like such a fun and interesting class!! I wish schools nowadays would have this. It’s something you’d actually use outside of school rather than learning trigonometry 😂 Your furniture wedding sounds amazing and building a little chapel is so unique!
you are looking GAWWWJUSSSSS in this video!!
Red is your colour
Aww thank you so much!! Maybe I should wear the red more often 😂
Can you make an updated how you decide what you charge, and if you send out a price list? Or just their quote?
Also do you use a management app (ie. Honey book) or still no?
Hi! I made one last year and this will probably be the last one since all of the things in this video are still true :) here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/ykEej2Y9wto/v-deo.htmlsi=416257jCsr0knuGc.
I do send out quotes based on the client but I publicly list my prices on my website so they know in advance. No as of now I don’t use any CRM platform.
I have never once remembered to bring the wedding favour home 😅
Haha I’m glad it’s not just me 😂 one of my friends had succulents and her favor and SO many plants were all over her house for years!
The end😂
HAAHAH!!!!
Thanks for the video
Glad you enjoyed it!!
I’m in Utah. Majority of brides stay around $12k to $17k. We do have some areas like park city where most brides are $30k+
Oh I thought Utah would be a lot higher for weddings based on the cost of living! Thank you for sharing!
Recently found your channel I’m so happy I did your content is lovely! Could you please make a video on how to match the right blush shade for clients? Can’t find any good videos about it on youtube.
Hi thank you so much! For blushes, it's not necessarily about matching. It's more about the clients personal preference as any blush color/tone can work on multiple difference skin tones :)
Crazy! I've been booked for the whole year back in August!
Yes!!! The amount of bookings has reached an all time high!
First and foremost - loving ur makeup in this video(esp. Ur lip colour❤❤❤ and eye look). 7:54 in this timestamp, while talking abt salon I think the weddingwire website means that going to a beauty salon to decide about hair and makeup looks for bridesmaids
Aww thank you so much!! That’s still so confusing putting “salons” as a term while talking about dresses. It’s all in one paragraph .. a little strange!
Seamstress here, a bridal salon is just another word for bridal shop. It’s not necessarily outdated, just a bougie word choice. I think it originated in France
