You did an awesome job that custom plywood cost too much. You did good with what you had. I wish I had that ping-pong table. I just ordered one. A joola i’m 61 years old using a piece of plywood for rebound board. your table is so beautiful. I wish I was there. I can play ping-pong all day.
Birch plywood is also commonly available in 5’x5’ panels, which works well for each half of a table 👍🏼

It's beautiful! We also made ourselves a plywood ping pong table and we love it. I wish I would have thought of taping off the regulation lines and using stain to define them. SUCH a clever idea.
Thank you Amanda! I saw the tape and stain idea on someone else's ping pong table. ;) I just hung some cafe lights over our table this morning so now we can see the ball in the evening. Now I need to get mosquito repellant. Thank you for commenting.

Your work turned out beautiful. I noticed that the woods have seams. This even harms the game because the ball can touch this amendment and deviate to the other side, deceiving the player. I recommend every time not to play, to store in a shelter away from humidity, sun, rain, etc. Because it will conserve the table more. I play table tennis on a table made of 30 mm thick MDF and the game is very fast.

Thank you. I actually brought this table into my covered patio to preserve it. And also poured 4 layers of clear epoxy over it and now it’s totally totally flat and beautiful, without any seams. I love it. We play all the time. Thank you for commenting.
I live in California, zone 10b. There is just a few rain days in a entire year, but it's extremely hot in summer. I'm wondering how long this outdoor ping pong table can last? I can't wait to make one in my backyard since I just removed the grass and paved. Thank you a lot.
I think in your climate it could last a very long time. I would probably cover it if you expect heavy rain though.

AND I have since epoxied my table. Now it’s so great and flat again !
It's overcomplicated and will eventually move. Two halves seperated at the net level would have been a lot easier and more stable over time.

I ended up brining into my covered patio after summer because we get a ton of rain in the summers and it was beginning to warp. I also poured 4 layers of epoxy on it so it would be totally flat and smooth.

yep. I brought it into my screened patio after only about 2 months because the plywood was penetrated by water in a couple different spots at the joints and started to separate. I had a feeling it might. I really should have applied a few more coats of the Halcyon finish. It called for 5 coats, but I only applied 3, and I could tell it wasn't saturated. But that's all I had on hand. The rain here in Florida is really torrential in the summers. It's fine, it dried and now I think I'm going to sand it and apply epoxy. I knew going into it that it was an experiment. I didn't think it would happen that fast though. Anyway, it's better in our patio anyway...we use it more often since there's not mosquitos. And this one is waaaaay prettier than the old blue one we had.
@@MimzyandCompany I would coat the underside as well... you have to "even" out the finish on both sides to keep it from warping - that probably would have happened even out of the rain with your humidity. And use an exterior plywood as well. Nice build, but might want to mention this somewhere that it didn't work as others might try it this way... its ok to fail, just tell people about it :)
