You can launch Grom 2 from at least 45 km away. You need the key binding "switch mission target" or something like that. Otherwise the GPS position doesn't work from that far because the camera only gets to 20 km max. 3 groms are enough to destroy a base. Go high and fast while being leveled, don't launch them while climbing. Try and launch them from above mach 1 and while you have the grom selected it will show below on the targeting view the range it will achieve. It takes a while for them to get there, I even land to the nearest airfield and they are still flying to target.
You don't need to look at the bases. There's a keybind to select mission target point if you press it it will automatically put the target to a base. Pressing it more will cycle through each base so you don't need to use the targeting pod.

I mean... they literally would have been. I don't fully agree with how Gaijin has handles Brimstone. But, given Typhoon was already presumably well in the works with plans to add Brimstones to all of them, I can kinda see where they're coming from in hindsight. Having 18 of those as ARH F&F missiles with a secondary laser function would be absolutely busted given the damage heavy HEAT warheads do after their buff. Imagine KH-38's that kill a bit less often and have less overall range, but you can carry three times as many of them... tied to a true TGP with Gen-3 thermals on arguably the best flight model in all of War Thunder. Also, the Brimstones (And allot of other ordinance) are also pretty much getting a flat buff with the ability to select a POI anywhere without any line of sight. If someone points out exactly where a SAM is, you can just launch stuff at them from behind terrain and pop up in the last seconds to guide it terminally. They can do literally nothing to stop you besides try and intercept them or mask behind terrain (Or smoke up if you're FlaRakRad)
