    Yep I did the same as many. Filled the water full, then tried to make 2 cups by setting the grinder. Its the fault of the manual because it makes it sound like it adjusts the water too, but it doesn't.
    It still works much like a manual coffee maker in that if you want 6 cups of coffee, you only fill it with 6 cups of water, and add 6 scoops (+/-) of ground beans to the filter. The difference here is that you are telling the grinder how many beans to grind and add to the filter.

      In the manual it says “The burr grinder will grind the correct amount of beans, and automatically adjust the coffee/water ratio for low cup settings.”
      I set mine to two cups and filled the reservoir for 12 cups based on this. It did not automatically adjust the coffee/ water ratio as claimed. It brewed 12 cups of very weak coffee. The manual is either misleading, or just wrong.

    @autman123 12 років тому +4

    I like that you address the cleaning of the burr grinder at: 2:50 mark.
    Jams seem to be the biggest complaint and if you just do a little PM it will work like a champ.
    Good video!

    I put in strong ground coffee and it always make very weak coffee even though it set on "strong". The brewing cycle is only 5 minutes, so I don't know if that is the problem. Any suggestions? I am not using beans, but it should be strong enough still.

    Thank you for this demo and walk thru of this machine, we bought one used and it didn’t have the instructions nor could I find them online to download. Your video was helpful and after trial and cleaning 🧹 😄I got it working. Thanks so much 😊

    Hi guys! I cleaned the coffee pot lid cover and it worked. The one that you need to twist to lock. You can use the Compressed Air for Cleaning Computer Keyboards or with a water pik. Blow some air or water into the drain holes. It will declot the holes and the coffee will flow normal again.

    • @undocumentedspot
      @undocumentedspot 10 років тому +2

      There is a button that says ground off, you switch it to off and put the ground coffee in the filter directly. I assume that how it works. I read that on amazon.

    mine started make noise of the cog not being able to rotate the basket cover. because cover gets stuck somewhere. don't know how to fix. I just open and close several times until it works. the carafe is shit. when pouring coffee. sometimes the coffee drops from the side as well causing a mess.

  • @rickpamstager4970
    @rickpamstager4970 5 років тому +1

    The manual says the, "cover separates into two pieces for easy cleaning." But, it doesn't say how to separate it. I don't see a way to do that. Can anyone help, I don't want to break it.

    They should write on the manual that the amount of water you put is the amount of coffee that the machine will brew, my first time using this machine I want to brew 4 cups but I put 12 cups of water hahaha

      That was my question too, and why I watched the video, which didn't answer that question. Thank you! I wish you COULD fill the reservoir and have it brew just the amount of coffee selected. I could even hook it up to a water source so I never have to pour water into it. Who makes one of those for residential use?

    The 700BC model of this machine is a good alternative to the thermal carafe. It's a glass carafe with a heating plate so it keeps hotter for longer. I've heard a lot of complaints about the thermal carafe not keeping the coffee warm.

  • @aggsbz
    @aggsbz 5 років тому +1

    I would like to know if I turn grinder off to brew coffee, do I need to put the lid on top of the basket? Also, this machine would be the best grind & brew out there if it would adjust the water intake for the amount of coffee you want made. It should have single cup brew as well. The only grind & brew out there now that is superior is by Breville which does all that.

    We've used this machine every day for over 5 years. We love it. However, now when the coffee brews and the coffee drips into the carafe, it overflows and makes a mess. We tried cleaning it but no success. What do you suggesst? Should I purchase a new lid?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  8 років тому

      Hi Maria, Can't say for sure that a new lid would solve the problem without seeing it first hand. However it does sound like there is a restriction or diversion of flow. Id check to make sure everything lines up in the area where the coffee enters the pot.

      We have being using the coffee maker for a year and we are experiencing the same problem. This must be a manufacturer error. The mechanism has a sring that wears out :(

      If you are using the gold forever filter...dont...I switched to paper filters...no problem.

    • @ntcarlson1
      @ntcarlson1 8 років тому

      Why not use the gold filter? Is that what is causing the spring to wear out and the machine to over brew? They seem unrelated.

  • @Rocko6716

    When it has brewed the coffee isn't very hot in the carafe how come

    • @Yogar
      @Yogar 6 років тому

      I found that to be true during the cold Winter months. The carafe is cool which lowers the temp of the freshly brewed coffee. My solution was to rinse the carafe with hot water before brewing, or in the case of an automated brew before waking up I will have to pour coffee into a microwave safe cup and give it about 20 seconds of microwave love. Of course do not put the carafe or any other metallic objects into the microwave.

    Why doesn't it brew all the beans, for example I put 8 cups of water and 8 scoops of beans..still had beans in clear container, is that normal??

    I have had my grind and brew for 12 years a d I would not trade it for any other. I did have to read the instructions to make sure I was cleaning it properly and I tweaked the brush provided and made another tool that helps keep it clean. I also only use deionized water, no minerals and I clean it everyday.

      @Wholelattelovepage  8 років тому

      Hi Johnny, Are you suing a very fresh coffee. Could be blooming so much with initial water contact that it's overflowing. Perhaps too much coffee in basket or coffee that's ground too fine for the goldtone filter?

    Why do a review without commenting on the taste of coffee?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  8 років тому +2

      Hi Lorelei, We sometimes do discuss coffee flavor. The thing is... it's very subjective and very dependent on the coffee used. Example: I love acidic/bright high-altitude single origin coffees. Others may like deep dark roasts - I don't. So put a dark roast in a machine and I'm not going to like it very much.

    How do you remove left over whole beans in bean grinder (inside machine) to switch to different type of beans. My Colombian tasted a little like hazelnut. Maybe turn the coffee pot upside down? Or do a mini brew?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  7 років тому

      Hi Norma, Good question. Always problematic to get the remnants of flavored coffee out of this type of brewer. There are grinder cleaning products which help but none appropriate for a combo grinder/brewer machine. Urnex, a company which makes a variety of cleaning products for coffee and espresso machines is working on a grinder cleaning product appropriate for use in brewers where the product comes in contact with water. In the meantime best advice is to run a few brew cycles to reduce the flavors.
