Today is Thanksgiving day 2023 here in the USA. I just returned from usual early morning walk; gazing at a cross rising high above a church steeple. Listening to this beautiful song on my phone, my heart nearly burst with joy and gratitude to our great Redeemer. Who for poor sinners emptied himself of His glory with the Father to save us eternally. As we enter into this Christmas season may we recount our Blessed Savior’s inestimable gift of reconciliation and peace through the blood of His cross. Hallelujah!
Beautiful reminder that no one forced the Lord to be brought low and suffer for us but that he did that of his own will to save us by his grace!! Soli Deo Gloria!!💜
Was reading a quote from JI Packer when this played. He wrote that true "Christmas spirit" is actually reflected in 2 Cor 8:9 "You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for our sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” This song so beautifully describes, with due wonder, how Christ was brought low when He came in the flesh. May the same mind be in us which was in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2). SDG.

Sovereign Grace Music doesn't have a bad song that I've heard. They point straight to God's glory. That being said. I wonder if this really was their second take or if they added that for effect. :P
This is an incredible song! I like the acoustic version better, I just wish the vocals were a bit more powerful like the regular version. I also feel like the chorus almost distracts from the deep, sobering emotion and rich lyrics of the verses. Either way - beautiful, true, and meaningful words & music.
