Thanks for this video. If you watch the Trickster episodes you can hear Mark Hamill doing the laugh that would eventually become his voice of the Joker on the Batman Animated Series. This was a great show for its time, and still enjoyable to watch on DVD. It holds up so much better than other Super Hero films and shows of that era.
Very true! Mark Hamill used a similar voice for the Joker and Trickster. If you look at this clip from the current show, when Hamill plays the Earth 3 Trickster, I’d say he uses the exact same voice he used for the Joker. Thanks for watching and commenting. ua-cam.com/video/xa5KlDgkm_E/v-deo.html
The Trickster is what landed Hamill the role of The Joker on BATS after Tim Curry voiced one episode and it was determined his performance was not what the producers were looking for.
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff Yeah, but I didn't know how deep the connection was. They had the actor and the suit, but they never directly told us it's the exact same guy and show. I thought it was just a reference and things just happened a lot differently. Kind of like someone flashpointed the 90s show
what if Grant Gustin can’t build bigger muscles? Then which you rather see: the producers add muscle padding under his suit, or his physical appearance remains in the same shape?
Check out this picture in the link. Those artificial muscles are a practical effect, not CGI. Great video. I remember watching this show with my parents haha. And when I first saw Shipp on the new Flash I freaked out. I was so happy they cast him as Barry's dad. I love this new series. Great acting, stories and characters. Where my Cisco squad at? Favorite character hands down.
I’m not too sure about season 6 but season 3-5 were really bad. Everyone had powers and it wasn’t really about Barry anymore and the Iris-Barry thing was kinda forced. Speed was also super inconsistent, Savitar in his initial scene was so fast he was practically everywhere in the city at once. Then he got beaten by 3 speedsters in the finale. And he died because he got shot. This one is less important but the black flash thing sucked “The one thing black flash can’t take, cold”. Season 4, Barry’s speed is also super inconsistent one episode he runs faster than a nuke and in the same episode he cannot stop someone pressing a button to detonate said nuke. They build up the characters and reset them the next episode. How do you stop someone who goes faster than anyone can see? Pretend like it didn’t happen. And that’s what they do. Season 5, this one is more an opinion, Nora goddamn sucks she messes up so much and her running so weird (since it’s an opinion I won’t expand more). The characters also feel super wooden one scene it’s heartfelt and then 30 seconds later it’s anger monotone “I will kill all metas”. It’s just a complete 180. Also the CGI is very bad. Season 4 finale. I don’t think I need to say more. This could be a better show, I think the problem is mainly the fact that it’s super long. They’re decent concepts but they stretch it out to 23 episodes all 40 minutes. So many subplots. This would help with VFX as well because they’d have more budget with less episodes.
Thanks for the great video! I do wish you'd put in the shot of him eating the huge bowl of cereal with orange juice (iirc) to keep his energy up! That was such a memorable scene!
At least we still get to see John Wesley Shipp playing Jay Garrick! And in truth, I prefer seeing him as Garrick teamed up with Earth 1 Barry, than seeing him as Earth 90 Barry teamed up with Earth 1 Barry.
for a 90's tv show this was amazing, i loosly remember watching it. and im glad the arrowverse brought this flash back, he has a soft spot in my heart.
The only thing good about the 1990 show is The Suit. All these years passed and it still looks better than all of CW's Flash suit and the Ezra Miller suit in the DCEU!
Ardalan Rezaeian thats not the only good thing, the performances the actresses/actors gave was great, the characters were pretty interesting and lovable (like barry/flash himself, tina mcgee, and julio). the special effects and the other costumes were good (especially for its time since there was like little to no cgi in the early 90s) and the theme song/intro was cool!
I disagree. The 90's suit may have aged decently, but it has glaring flaws that the newer suits don't have. I personally love the Ezra suit and I like the CW suits. (Even the original one, which I would probably consider to be the worst suit of all the live-action interpretations, save for that one shitty Justice League ripoff)
Yes. At the time this show was made, I think movie/tv producers had the idea that a superhero needs to look a lot more muscular than producers seem to feel now generally.
Yes, anyone is ripped when they’re wearing a padded suit! That’s why I personally thought the producers of the current show should have put Grant Gustin in a padded suit whenever they show future Barry. But the producers had other ideas than me.
Nice video. Very informative for those who haven't really followed the 90's version of the TV show. Thanks! Oh and just wanted to mention... lol...you'd think for 1990 etc. that the CGI or VFX would be slightly better? Maybe budgets and stuff... who knows.
Thanks! I’m glad you found the video informative. At the time it was on, I don’t remember any fans complaining about the effects. People just accepted it as 1990 TV show. Back then, we’d only seen a handful of comic superheroes in any kind of live action (Superman, Batman & Robin, Wonder Woman, the Hulk - and I think that was it at the time).
Alex Desert was on the CW version of The Flash. He played his character from the show but he was the police captain in the earth 2 version of Barry world where Iris was a cop and her dad owned a bar
The current show, like most superhero shows and movies today, benefits from an explosion of interest in this genre. And so they get more support and more money. These shows back in the day didn't get that. I admire that they were able to get this show on even for one season. I enjoyed it very much and was very happy to see John Wesley Shipp on this new show. It shows that they were showing some respect to one of the shows that made the modern one possible. Also, you know I think that Alex Desert actually did appear on the modern show. Unfortunately it was a small cameo where he got killed in an alley by the bad guy that episode. But I can't remember the exact episode. I just remember thinking:" Hey that's Julio!"
I don't watch the current Flash, so I didn't know that the new show calls back to the old one so heavily! That's great. I enjoyed this stuff as a kid, and I always like it when an update pays homage to its predecessor. It's why the Mission Impossible movies kind of got off on the wrong foot for me.
Thanks, Joe! In December there's going to be an episode called "Elseworlds" in which John Wesley Shipp plays the same character he played in the 1990 show (much older) coming from a different universe to work alongside younger superheroes.
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff Yes, I just heard that. So this series is a de facto continuation of the original show! I'll have to check it out! It's great when an old story gets one more chance to breathe.
HOLY SMOKES! did anyone noticed the Superman in flash suit!.. It would surely look like this 90s flash 😍😍👍🏼.. Current flash is skinnier than a normal person.. Stil good
I'm 42 years old and I can remember when the flash first came out now that I'm older I can't remember what the plot was on that flash but it do make me want to go back and re-watch it thanks for putting this little skit together
i love how meta these CW superhero shows are. bringing back characters and original actors from shows long gone. it was why i was really hoping Lynda Carter would make an appearance in Crises as Wonder Woman.
I still enjoy(ed) The 1990 Flash. Underrated, sure; the effects may have been very 1990ish, but there were some great moments. Fast Forward was a great episode. "Now...let's see how fast you can REALLY run." Twin Streaks "If you go I must stop you." "I understand." They did introduce some powers as the show went on: ability to vibrate through walls (phasing), fast healing (fell out of a high window/frozen entirely with Cold's gun). Would have loved to seen where it would go!
I know this video is a year old now, but Alex Desert has been in the new show twice so far - once in the first episode of Season 3 in Flashpoint (and gets wiped out when Flashpoint is restored). The other he was a jazz singer who gets murdered.
Yes. As I just wrote in another response, I posted this video 06/08/2016. Alex Desert’s first appearance on the current show was in the episode “Flashpoint” which first aired 10/04/2016.
i think that the 90's is the original timeline of the flash before reverse flash kills his mother this is the first timeline and the new tv show is the new timeline.
A lot of other people have said the same thing, but it doesn't make sense to me personally. Why would the original timeline have Barry be about 35 years old during 1990, but in an altered timeline of the same Earth be about 25 years old in 2014? It just doesn't make sense to me. I think the 1990 show is NOT the original timeline of Earth 1, 2 or 3 of the current show, but does exist somewhere out there in the current show's multiverse.
Joe likes movies n stuff well Thawne before killimg Harry and becoming him says to him I must create your particle accelerator a decade earlier. So it makes perfect sense 90s show is the dif timeline. Not another earth.
well it's definitely not the current shows original timeline, but it is likely the original timeline on another earth, because on the cw show flash still existed in the OG timeline, so I'm assuming that's how it always is in the comics
as also of a person who remembers and searched high and low, and went to illegal means to obtain a few eps of the 90's series of the Flash. Can I say, as a comic fan firstly how much I loved this show for it's sheer 'campiness' and also as well as a second, seeing them use the same sets from a 90's series also, that had a character called Superman. When I fell in love with superheroes we didn't have the internet or UA-cam to tell me I have to watch this, because I've shown interest in this. My love of the before my time, came purely because I love the characters; and I thus therefore ask all those of you who come to here, and think just because you love the character we see now on TV and also here in this clip; to please just do a little searching and find out the true original roots of them, and thus then appreciate them so much more.
The costume was so great. It had comic book muscles but flexible and he can turn his head. I wonder what happened in the Batman costume department, It took the 5 movies later to be able to tirn his head. In here, they figured it out in a TV production. And the theme song was perfection.
The current show had also a very brief crossover with the old show, showing a flash wearing the ninety costume coming from "Earth 90", accompanied by the ninety tune when he appears.
I just started watching it not to long ago and I’m on ep 12. All I can say is I’m so happy this show was made. Yeah it’s cheesy, but I love it. And I’m even more happy it’s officially connected to the cwverse
This video must have been produced before Season 3's premiere, because in that episode Alex Desert finally makes an appearance as Central City Police Captain in the Flashpoint timeline
I like how John went out of his way to ask for a mask and gloves to conceal his identity but the character he plays on the current show wears neither, he didn't even have his helmet until he stole it from Zoom
I remember watching this show in my early 20's. As a super hero show it wasn't bad....but watching the new cw series you can see how much better it was in comparison. Still I'm glad they use some of the original actors from the 90's version.
collin schoenfelder Yeah it’s not time travel if he were then he would be in a different time period. The correct terminology is he crossed to different Earths if he has the technology like Star Labs would have. A breach! Since there’s many ways to open a breach. The 90’s flash should always have that in handy before in the Crisis ever since he left his earth behind, and he probably had no where to go. So yeah if he were to time travel he would’ve accidentally went to the wrong time period let’s say 2021. Yeah wrong time period. But I don’t think time travel has to do with that because he barely time travelled since he ran away from Earth 90. Breachers are the only technology that allows the breacher, or person to use when they travel to different earths. But since the other earths no longer exist the breaches are useless until the earths are restored.
Holy cow..actually I remember now. I feel like when 90’s flash was with Barry and the others he was breached to a different place by the Monitor. If the Monitor weren’t to breach the 90’s flash there he wouldn’t be captured by the anti monitor and use him to cause anti matter wave to wipe the infinite earths not just a population of humans living on earth. Then it would be hard and slow down the anti monitor from finding ways to make infinite earths disappear.

@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff Yeah, but I didn't know how deep the connection was. They had the actor and the suit, but they never directly told us it's the exact same guy and show.
I thought it was just a reference and things just happened a lot differently. Kind of like someone flashpointed the 90s show
Please check out my new video with my thoughts on Crisis ua-cam.com/video/5G9F2Yh4lQI/v-deo.html
@@rafsolo You're wrong. Even In Elseworlds it was confirmed he was Barry Allen from Earth-90
still think that grant gustin should train his legs to fill in the costume better... there is no excuse now.
Or maybe they could put some kind of padding under his Flash suit to make his muscles look bigger.
plz dont XD
what if Grant Gustin can’t build bigger muscles? Then which you rather see: the producers add muscle padding under his suit, or his physical appearance remains in the same shape?
stop it... no padding, anyone can build muscle.
Check out this picture in the link. Those artificial muscles are a practical effect, not CGI. They look pretty real to me… I would have liked to have seen Grant Gustin wear something like that when he plays future Barry. facebook.com/StanWinstonSchool/photos/a.132306723471670.10590.130940650274944/1382823355086661/?type=3&theater
That's why we can see the old flash when barry uses the speed force
I don’t understand. What do you mean?
Yes! As I wrote in response to a different post here: At 1:52 of this clip, look at the left side of the screen and you should see it. ua-cam.com/video/LradkKBfcQo/v-deo.html

I guess this season we'll get the 90s flash
Who is after 90s Barry sacrifices himself for modern flash
A lot of people have come here for that reason over the last few days.
Great video. I remember watching this show with my parents haha. And when I first saw Shipp on the new Flash I freaked out. I was so happy they cast him as Barry's dad. I love this new series. Great acting, stories and characters. Where my Cisco squad at? Favorite character hands down.
I also loved seeing John Wesley Shipp play Henry Allen. But I like seeing as the character he plays on the show now even better.
SageNemesis Me tooo
Same here. I'm 38 and loved this show when I was a kid. Watched it with my Dad every week. Great memories. Damn how time flies.
“The current flash is far superior in special effects, writi-“
I’m gonna stop you right there bud
Okay. Please explain why.
@@jackysbin3860 season 3 and 4 in my opinion were good ngl and 5 isn’t bad but I see why ppl don’t like it
It's kinda cool that the 90s Flash is shown in the new Flash. It's rare to see that kind of respect on other shows or movies these days.
Very cool!
I grew up with the 1990 show. I loved it. Never missed an episode! And that suit was awesome. It was straight out of the comics with the muscles.
The Flash in the 1990 show did look more like his comic book counter part with the muscles. I agree with you about that!
“ I have faith in you Tina.” “ Well the truth is I have faith in you too”
That was a great moment in Crisis!
Man that jawline. Even in the newer show he looks in shape for an older Flash
He does play an older Flash in the current show! (sometimes)
Thanks for the great video!
I do wish you'd put in the shot of him eating the huge bowl of cereal with orange juice (iirc) to keep his energy up! That was such a memorable scene!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked the video... Please remind me: which episode was that in?
I’m a 2000’s kid and I watched this show with my cousins I’ve seen the 2019 crisis and I cried as it’s a means to an end to that era I loved it.
At least we still get to see John Wesley Shipp playing Jay Garrick! And in truth, I prefer seeing him as Garrick teamed up with Earth 1 Barry, than seeing him as Earth 90 Barry teamed up with Earth 1 Barry.
anybody else came here after seeing elseworlds 90sflash promo
Anybody else come to comment bs
Many!
I remember watching this, then home improvement & then it was bed time...
How'd you enjoy it?
Rest in Piece, 90s Barry
RIP
for a 90's tv show this was amazing, i loosly remember watching it. and im glad the arrowverse brought this flash back, he has a soft spot in my heart.
What did you think of seeing John Wesley Shipp as Jay Garrick?
The only thing good about the 1990 show is The Suit. All these years passed and it still looks better than all of CW's Flash suit and the Ezra Miller suit in the DCEU!
Hi Ardalan. I definitely agree that the 1990 suit looks better than what Ezra Miller wore.
That and that the old show isn't saddled with SJW/emo woe-is-me drivel out the ass like the new show is.
Disagree.
(Even the original one, which I would probably consider to be the worst suit of all the live-action interpretations, save for that one shitty Justice League ripoff)
holy crap, John Wesley Snipp is ripped!!!
Yes. At the time this show was made, I think movie/tv producers had the idea that a superhero needs to look a lot more muscular than producers seem to feel now generally.
Anyone's ripped when they're wearing a padded suit...
Yes, anyone is ripped when they’re wearing a padded suit! That’s why I personally thought the producers of the current show should have put Grant Gustin in a padded suit whenever they show future Barry. But the producers had other ideas than me.
+Joe likes movies n stuff Eh. I think the padded suit looks kinda corny. Like a deluxe Halloween costume from party city. Maybe that's just me though.
@@Lordgenome76 2:30 he is ripped even without the suit
I did not know about this show. Am a big fan of the current show. Thank you for putting together such a well done summary and history
You're welcome! Thank you for watching.
Did you know about Barry Allen's grandson on Smallville? If not, please watch this video of mine ua-cam.com/video/1Xfra14P_Uo/v-deo.html
The visual effects were done by The Post Group who also performed the visual effects for Star Trek The Next Generation.
Alex Desert was on the CW version of The Flash. He played his character from the show but he was the police captain in the earth 2 version of Barry world where Iris was a cop and her dad owned a bar
Yes, but that was after I posted this video.
I use to watch 90´s Flash as a kid, man every episode was like a movie
Did you have a favorite episode?
Right???? It was must see tv!!!
My favs would be the Pilot, Fast Forward, and Twin Streaks
The Pilot was by far my favorite episode. But if I had to pick a second favorite then it would probably be Fast Forward.
That was interesting to read. You made some good points.
And yes, Alex Desert did appear on the current show but that was after I posted this video.
Thanks to this, I've caught up with 90's Flash for Elseworlds
Awesome!
The last words of earth-90 flash: keep riding the lightning son. I know you'll make us all proud
Last words of Earth 90 Flash. But I do look forward to hearing more words from Jay Garrick!
i remember when the show aired. i enjoyed it and fully concur with your findings.
Thanks!
I loved this show! It's sad that it lasted only 1 season.
At least you got to see a little more of this version of the character on the current show. There might even be more in the future!
Yep I remember the Flash of the 1990s....loved watching it....thank you for sharing another of my memories ....HIGH 5
You're very welcome, Karlisa! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Do you remember Barry Allen's grandson on Smallville? Here's a video about that ua-cam.com/video/1Xfra14P_Uo/v-deo.html
Stil good
Superman in a Flash suit? I'm not sure exactly what you mean.
When i was kids i use to watch this T.V shows. I wish i go back into time.
You can still watch it.
so glad that this flash is gonna be in this year's crossover. HUGE FAN OF THE FLASH BTW
Yes! That should be fun!
"Well, the truth is I have faith in you too."
And Tina was right to have faith in Barry!
I'm 42 years old and I can remember when the flash first came out now that I'm older I can't remember what the plot was on that flash but it do make me want to go back and re-watch it thanks for putting this little skit together
My pleasure to put this together... Yeah, I'd recommend you go back and take another look at it.
I never saw this show but when I saw this flash disappearing in crisis and the flashback with Tina it really got to my heart 🥺
Then I say you should give this show a chance!
Why is John so attractive??? He has that rough dad look, it’s goals af

And that suit is still one of my favourites
I like how the show looks old but is not even that old
Different people have different views on what's old.
i love how meta these CW superhero shows are. bringing back characters and original actors from shows long gone. it was why i was really hoping Lynda Carter would make an appearance in Crises as Wonder Woman.
There's still two more episodes of Crisis in January. It ain't over 'til it's over!
I was so sad when this show did not get a second season. I think I still have that comic special somewhere in my collection though.
I wonder what the comic is worth today. I still have it as well.
Same. 💀🔥
I still enjoy(ed) The 1990 Flash. Underrated, sure; the effects may have been very 1990ish, but there were some great moments.
Fast Forward was a great episode. "Now...let's see how fast you can REALLY run."
Twin Streaks "If you go I must stop you." "I understand."
They did introduce some powers as the show went on: ability to vibrate through walls (phasing), fast healing (fell out of a high window/frozen entirely with Cold's gun).
Would have loved to seen where it would go!
I agree that Fast Forward was a great episode. That was probably my next favorite after the Pilot.
It's not though, this flash is the same old flash was on the Elseworlds crossover.
So ur tellin me in this universe somewhere, there is young eobord thawne being a huge fan of flash?
Wow John was so buff back then. He still the shape ofc,he wore his 90s flash suit during crisis
Yes, he was in great shape then.
I think when we saw him I the Arrowverse he was wearing muscle padding under that suit.
Really great video. Keep it up. You always were a Flash fanboy heh.
Thanks!
Coolest thing about it is that CW was smart enough to have 1990s Flash as Barry's father.
And Jay Garrick... I sure hope to see more of Jay Garrick on the current show.
as also of a person who remembers and searched high and low, and went to illegal means to obtain a few eps of the 90's series of the Flash.
This show used the same sets as another show with a Superman character? Please, tell me a little more about that.
Man, John deserved be in a Flash full length movie.
I'd love it if he now starred in a feature length movie about Jay Garrick!
the 90s costume is the most accurate Flash costume.
Yeah, a lot of people have said that.
Amazing work guys! Thanks for putting all the effort to create this episode!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you like it.
The costume was so great. It had comic book muscles but flexible and he can turn his head. I wonder what happened in the Batman costume department, It took the 5 movies later to be able to tirn his head. In here, they figured it out in a TV production. And the theme song was perfection.
Which suit do you like better - this Flash suit, or the Batman suit which Michael Keaton wore in the 1989 film?
The current show had also a very brief crossover with the old show, showing a flash wearing the ninety costume coming from "Earth 90", accompanied by the ninety tune when he appears.
Yes, it did. Very brief indeed... Perhaps we'll see more of the Earth 90 Flash this upcoming season.
What episode was that or are you talking about the elseworlds crossover
Cool to see this show still remembered. Decent video for sure 😊
Thank you!
6:08 that looks interesting...

It was good.
It's so weird seeing the differences between this show and the new one. Very informative!

I loved this show!!! I was totally disappointed when it ended after just one season!!!!! John Wesley did the Flash justice!!!
And how do you like seeing John Wesley Shipp play Jay Garrick in the current show?
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff He plays the role well. But, I would rather see him as the Flash!!!!
The 90s flash running looks so much better
You think so?
I just started watching it not to long ago and I’m on ep 12. All I can say is I’m so happy this show was made. Yeah it’s cheesy, but I love it. And I’m even more happy it’s officially connected to the cwverse
How much of the current show have you seen? (I don't want to spoil anything - in terms of references the current show has made to the 1990 show)
Joe likes movies n stuff I’ve been watching the current show since it started. I’ve seen all of it
What do you enjoy more - seeing John Wesley Shipp as Jay Garrick, or seeing him as the Earth 90 Flash?
Love the 90’s flash suit it’s the most comic accurate suit in media
Yes, probably.
90's Flash suit looks awesome. Looks like those animated versions of the suit. And the actor is also buff instead of being skinny.
Yes, the suit looks closer to that of the comics - especially the silver age comics.
This video must have been produced before Season 3's premiere, because in that episode Alex Desert finally makes an appearance as Central City Police Captain in the Flashpoint timeline
Correct. This video was posted before then. And it appears the producers saw this video and decided to give me my wish ;)
I never new dr magee was played by the same person in both shows. Nice....its attention to detail like this that makes the flash such a great show.
I'd say it's one of many things that makes the Flash a great show.
John still has it his flash is very underrated
His Jay Garrick is my favorite Flash in live action, ever.
And now he's back...
He soon will be!
I like how John went out of his way to ask for a mask and gloves to conceal his identity but the character he plays on the current show wears neither, he didn't even have his helmet until he stole it from Zoom
Good point!
I remember watching this show in my early 20's. As a super hero show it wasn't bad....but watching the new cw series you can see how much better it was in comparison. Still I'm glad they use some of the original actors from the 90's version.
Thanks, Darren!
I loved this show, I have the complete DVD of the this season.
I'm glad. Thanks for watching and commenting.
It's 2019 and the 90s flash has been in the CW crossover 🤯 time travel
He was in last year's crossover and will be a part of this year's. But I don't think it has anything to do with time travel.
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff I'm saying I time travel to tell you this
collin schoenfelder Yeah it’s not time travel if he were then he would be in a different time period.
Then it would be hard and slow down the anti monitor from finding ways to make infinite earths disappear.
i was fortunate enough to get the entire first season in a DVD set from movie stop for 5 bucks. I always enjoyed this show.
$5? Wow! Awesome deal!
