Agree most underrated band ever and Jimi Jamison’s voice is truly amazing. Regret was not able to see them live. They are a rock band but just like Journey, so many of their hits were the ballads.
It’s either called power rock or album oriented rock!! Or AOR!! You should react to more Survivor!! Somewhere In America, American Heartbeat, Poor Man’s Son, Rebel Girl, Santa Ana Winds, Freelance, Caught in the Game, Ever Since the World Began, Eye of the Tiger, The Search Is Over, I Can’t Hold Back, Burning Heart, Moment of Truth, Is This Love, Didn’t Know It Was Love
This is '80s pop rock at its finest. Survivor dominated the charts throughout the '80s. Their first major hit was Eye of the Tiger, which was popularized as the theme to the Rocky III movie. Other major hits include The Search is Over and I Can't Hold Back. The Search is Over is more of a ballad.
I See You In Everyone is a great song in fact it's my favorite. The Search is Over, Is It Love, I Can't Hold Back, Broken Promises these are all sung by the singer Jimi Jamison he replaced the guy that sang Eye Of The Tiger. Once Jimi Jamison he elevated the band. He is from Memphis and the rest of the band is from Chicago
Try "I SEE YOU IN EVERYONE" it's a master piece. Jimi's voice was outstanding and incredibly underrated. Casey Kasem always considered Jameson, among the top 10 vocalists of all time. A very special and recognizable voice (RIP)
Thank you brother! I have been looking and SEARCHING for this video for what seems like forever! For some reason I am not able to land on it no matter how hard I search. It's kind of hard not to start nodding your head and feeling good listening to this song (and many more by them). I like your breakdown, as someone not fully up to speed on rock music. Not really a ballad, just a love themed rock song. AOR in particular. I won't bore you with the definition, do a search on AOR music style. I would say the band JOURNEY is closest in style. Most of SURVIVOR's music is very love "themed", and pretty PG13. Not a lot of degeneracy or debauchery. Next one to check out is "I Can't Hold Back" (nice video too). I'm just assuming you are aware of "Eye of the Tiger" 😁 Would you be able to leave a link to the original video? I need to know where to find this!
Thank you for this! Not enough reactors cover Survivor, the Jimi Jamison years. Will always miss that voice. Every bit as good as Steve Perry in my opinion. We lost Jimi Jamison a couple, maybe 3 years ago. New subscriber here and enjoying you:) Edit: apparently he passed in 2014! Can’t believe it’s been almost 10 years. Seems like just a couple years ago😌
Survivor is considered AOR/melodic rock. They are often compared to Journey. I'm a big fan of both bands, I only recently discovered how incredible Survivor is. It's a shame, I never heard a song other than Eye of the Tiger up until a year or so ago. I had never heard any other Survivor song on the radio... and I can't understand why. They have SOOO many incredible songs, with two of the greatest singers of all time.
@@menoftomorrowchannel You may also recognize Burning Heart from Rocky IV. Sylvester Stallone was a fan of Survivor! It's cool to hear about in interviews with Jim Peterik (former keyboardist and one of the primary songwriters in Survivor).
I had heard Can’t Hold Back, High on you and the Search is over on radios during the 80s when I was a kid but didn’t become a fan til I think after 2010!! Such good songs!!
No yacht rock is like Summer Breeze, Sailing, Kenny Loggins, Jimmy Buffett, Pablo Cruise, Air Supply, light chill type of pop rock! Survivor fits in with Boston, Kansas, Asia, Alan Parsons Project, Rick Springfield, Eddie Money, Loverboy, Night Ranger, Billy Squier, 38 Special, Toto and Foreigner, and probably some others too! It’s like a mix of pop and rock, not heavy stuff at all with singers that have powerful vocals!! Maybe Pat Benatar and REO Speedwagon might fit in there too
Melodic rock. They got a bit harder with the album Too Hot to Sleep. It’s also AOR rock. Jamison had harder stuff with his earlier bands Target and Cobra. Casey Kasey of America’s Top 40 called him the man with the golden voice. I really liked Didn’t know it Was Love, Burning Bridges and Tell Me I’m the One.
They have many good songs. Give Too Hot to Sleep a try. Also you cant go wrong with any song on the Vital Signs album. Plus the lead singer has an awesome voice & his solo records are awesome!
survivor was such an underrated 80s band. try "the search is over" next...it's a great song!!!
@tiendo6565 I will when I am back up running again! Thank you!
This, to me - is happiness and pure joy to listen to!! How good is his singing!?!? Fantastic!! Feelgood song! 😍Love them. Thank you!

Yes, they had more singles success in the 80s than Heart, Genesis or Van Halen.

@RobertSmith-js2kz I will put link on the video comment section! I should have done that at the beginning! Thank you!
I'm not sure if they have a bad song. Most underrated great band of all time!
They do ... but VERY few. The ratio of good to bad is HUGE. I honestly do not understand how they were not WAY bigger.
Bad songs?? There’s a few on Reach but there is like 1 or 2 songs on it that could have been hits!!

It belongs to the A & R catagory
This was definitely a rock/pop song. Yacht rock.
@JFinSD2 Wow! I never heard it ever been put that way before! Thank you!

sof+ rock, hard rock, and rock.......3 diff genres in a manner
I love soft 🔈 rock for me is the most beautiful rock!
sof+ rock
Yes ,this would be considered a Rock ballad , their biggest hit & the one you may have heard is "Eye Of The Tiger" it was in the Rocky movie.
Rock ballad? I would call this Pop Rock.
I call this power rock! Not so hard rock with a singer that has a powerful voice!!
