Call the series "The Shadow Chronicles". And don't just focus on the past, also continue into the future. Two choices: 1. Write a whole episode about Richard's past and how he became who he is now. 2. Tell Richard's past story in flashback piece by piece while you continue to develop the future plot. Of course you can also combine both.
Awesome story! I was a little disappointed at Richard turning into Superman without any explanation, but the promise of this possibly being a series where more of his history being revealed a bit at a time has me hooked. Looking forward to the ongoing adventure.
Hey Larry, you absolute legend! Wow That's like... almost enough for a galactic vending machine snack! I'm touched by your generosity, truly. But seriously, Larry, your support means more than you know. It's fuel for the creative engines, a signal boost through the noise of the universe. You're not just a listener; you're a co-pilot on this wild space adventure. So here's to you, Larry! If you ever find yourself stranded on a mysterious alien planet, just remember - the blue ones are usually friendly. Usually. Thanks again, space cowboy. Your generosity is out of this world!
So, this is a Star Trek story since it immediately mentions a bluskinned Adorian vendor. The protagonist, Richard's "supernatural" abilities could be due to augmentations. The series Enterprise show some of these in action including how just two or three of them totally massacred the crew on a klingon warship.
This is one of the Better stories and the Telling of said story. Only, to me, small repeating..This is one of the few I actually listened all the way thru.👍
When you say, "old habits die hard" this is a saying and, as such, is a fourth wall break if set as part of the narrative. If you're not looking to break the fourth wall, don't say it unless you contextualise it, e.g. "...and he thought, 'old habits die hard'" - see how it stays in the present tense in spite of the past tense narration? There is no circumstance in which a statement like that needs to be altered to conform to the tense of the narrative.
Interesting but the story crossed the line to be incredulous, except for a ten year old reading a Superman comic book. The story might work in the 1930-40s
Thank you for not naming your hero Brad or Bryce or Chad or Chance or some other heroic cliche name. Richard isn't so bad. At least it has some bonafide history behind it. I'm partial to unexpected hero names like Percy, James, Llewellyn, Dennis, William and the like. Horace is another good one, forever immortalized in the heroic form of one Horace Rumpole.
I do get a bit tired of hearing the word "cacophony" . Can't the writer's change it up some? Like a busy place with may people trying to talk over each other, busy place , lots of noise etc.?
If they evolved from totally different species breeding might be a problem if this story is going to go where I think it is. Are we to believe that just because they are humanoid it is OK for romantic connection. Beastiality does not fit as both subjects are sentient beings. Struggling to find a word to describe such a union.
Hit the nail right on the head. A lot of sci-fi speculates that a very ancient race "seeded" worlds that had the potential to support life. Since different worlds have their own unique environments the life that arose would be uniquely different, but would have a basic genetic compatibility. I always liked the concept. Of course, there will be worlds that are so completely different that not every species will be compatible, but there would be enough for humanity to find plenty of common ground.
Write in the comments what you think of the story!

"I am justice, I am vengeance." I thought for sure the next line was going to be "I am BATMAN." 41:50
Waiting on more. A continuation of this one. Plus Richard's back story

Ancient aliens, panspermia, and guided evolution handwavium.
