Join us in celebration of International Women’s Day for this interactive talk and Q+A event to hear Dr. Amy Dickman reflect on the essential, driving role that women have played in the conservation of lions and other large carnivores both in communities across Africa and within the dedicated group of female scientists that make up ‘'The Pride Lion Alliance'.
Dr Amy Dickman is Kaplan Senior Research Fellow in Felid Conservation at Oxford University, Founder and Director of the Ruaha Carnivore Project.
Amy Dickman has over 20 years’ experience working on large carnivores in Africa, specialising in human-carnivore conflict. She has published over 80 scientific papers and book chapters on large carnivore ecology and conservation. Establishing the Ruaha Carnivore Project in 2009, Amy has achieved vital conservation successes in one of Africa’s most important landscapes for large carnivores, the Ruaha Landscape in Tanzania. Amy is a member of the IUCN Cat Specialist Group, the Human-Wildlife Conflict Collaboration, the African Lion Working Group, the IUCN Human-Wildlife Conflict Task Force, and is a National Geographic Explorer and founding member of Pride Lion Alliance. She has received multiple awards for her work.
