When I first got mine I tried to do a swatch with my finger and I had the same issue! I will say it’s definitely easier with a brush or beauty blender.

I would use a damp beauty blender that’s what I’ve been doing and it blends out really nice

They are long lasting but I would say a pretty good time especially with setting spray
