    Hi Marius and Elena, I've been dancing for 3 and 1/2 years - a minimum of 10 hours a week. When lockdown hit I danced informally even more hours, maybe double that. This year with socials, rehearsals and courses I put in from 14 to 18 hours a week and I still think I need more than ever to go back to basics. Sometimes I think I will never reach the kind of level I would like but I still love dancing so much and the dancing community even more. Thank you for all your hard work. You're truly an inspiration and you contribute so much with these videos

    Guys, thank you so so much for yours videos and for perfect explanations of very important basic details ! These weekend me and my leader took a part in a competition and we won it 🥇🏆🥳🥳🥳! We took some of your tricky combos and trained a lot. We are beginners, I’ve been practicing bachata for 8 months and my partner - for almost 6, but for the last two months we had up to 12 hours of trainings and 2 parties per week! Thank you so very much! You inspire us!
    Can’t wait for your new videos!

    I’ve been dancing for about 3-4 years and I’ve danced for Touch. I’m coming from knee surgery about 6 months ago, but right now I go to 1-3 socials a week dancing the entire social. I’m either hot shot or advanced lol. I can watch a video and learn the move with the timing lol. Your videos are excellent. I just naturally feel the music and let my body express it.

      @@MariusElenaBachata I guess the stage dance is the most suitable name in English. It was very bitty and scrappy, because the teachers were changing very often. A little bit of Gypsy dance, a little bit of Russian folk dance, a bit of Vogue, a bit of Hip-hop, a bit of Oriental. We even had ballerina teaching us for a couple months.
      But it was a long long time ago actually, I had a 17 years break, so the first time I came to bachata class, I felt like I`d never been dancing before.
      Though my teacher is really great so he helped me to come back in the saddle again in a short time😄😄

    Phew! This is a fantastic tutorial. I feel like I could spend quite a bit of time exploring the different movements, especially the L/F interactions.
    I've been dancing for 9 months, averaging at least 5 hours/week of lessons, group classes, and parties. But I've logged a lot less floor time for Bachata. 😅

    • @MariusElenaBachata
      @MariusElenaBachata  2 роки тому

      Hahah... DOn't worry about spending less time for Bachata. Bachata is "easy" in terms of actual moves. The tricky part is the leading and following. Salsa for example it's waaaay more difficult in all aspects. So, if by any chance you focused on Salsa... well... that helps a lot :P (also any other dance style)

  • @jamieslate
    @jamieslate 2 роки тому +2

    Almost 3 years dancing. For the first two years I was a beginner. Then suddenly I became intermediate and dancing became so much more fun, and because of the increased fun, I was much more motivated to dance more and improve even more! Recently I've been dancing at least 3 times per week: typically 2 socials and one practice session with my partner. (PS. Having a regular partner is a game-changer)
    PS. I appreciate the focus on social dancing over performing, because social is what most of us are dancing most of the time. Why fill your brain with moves that only work with one person, instead of moves that work with everybody?

    • @MariusElenaBachata
      @MariusElenaBachata  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, having a regular partner with whom you can practice makes a lot of difference. Also, thank you, we are focusing on social because, as you said, that's what we do. We don't feel the need to do impossible stuff just to become more popular or for marketing. We try to do this stuff from time to time, but it's also a challenge for us. But in now way are we saying that "hey, you should learn how to backflip while triple spinning your partner 😂 if you want to have fun on the social floor."
      My best experiences with the top tier dancers (Desiree, Alemana, Alba, Sara, Andreea, another Sara :P ) were those in which musicality, fun, and basic stuff were in focus. No triple twists, to plunges, to unnatural dips, etc... So... social dancing is so underrated but is where the magic happens.

    • @MariusElenaBachata
      @MariusElenaBachata  2 роки тому

      Niiiiice :P You have a lot of experience. Just a tip, treat salsa, bachata, tango, or any other dance style... like you are learning something new, from zero, if that makes sense. Some things are common, but we usually tend to bring our experience over other dance styles. For example the posture, it's not the same :P P.S. I did ballroom too, but only a few years :P

    • @Caranilion
      @Caranilion 2 роки тому

      @@MariusElenaBachata 😂 yes, I know that. But it is really difficult, especially posture. My last Bachata course was basically: don't stand so straight... 🙄. Compared to what I am used to do I was already fairly relaxed. On another note, if you notice similarities, that can really help you understanding how dancing works and what is your role in the couple. It is really fascinating 😊

      You will get there. You will be a good dancer because you know you are not there yet, to learn this. THere are a lot of dancers that think they have learned everything after 2-3 months, and try this at parties, and will break/hurt their follower.
      Keep going like this, dancing 4-5 hours + 8 hours of social, and you will evolve really fast.

    • @MariusElenaBachata
      @MariusElenaBachata  2 роки тому +1

      In order of recommendation :
      1. Learn basic music theory. This will help you a lot in understandig how music works.
      2. Practice keeping the timing. Favourite song, just do basic, count out loud ( 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8) and synchronize with the steps.
      This might seem silly or simple, but if you can't keep the basic rhythm ( 1 to 8) whrn dancing, it means it's not yet natural. You have to focus to keep it, and that will mess up your dance and vice versa.
      3. Actively listening to a lot of music. Use headphones and focus on what you hear (closr your eyes).
      4. Practice practice practice (the 3 things above :) )
      This will help you a lot if you do it.
