Well, buddah wasnt wrong to be fair. Twitch keeps shooting themselves in the foot, and pushing both viewers/streamers away. They had developed a pretty decent platform and were leading the way, but it clearly was mismanaged once it got big enough. Got greedy (likely from inflated numbers during covid) and couldnt maintain the balance. Ah well, it happens.
Imo it was kinda doomed to have a short shelf life from the start. UA-cam had many years to hash out their ad revenue system and create proper monetization deals with their bigger creators. It was symbiotic whereas on twitch it's very much parasitic. Twitch is a platform where people go mainly because they like streaming, personalities, and BTTV emotes, not necessarily because they like twitch or it's interface. Now that youtube is gaining more third-party resources, more and more people are realizing how pointless all the "features" twitch has are along with the benefits that come with having the same platform for streaming and videos. I've streamed on twitch, and I've made youtube videos in the past. I liked streaming but I wouldn't say that was because it was on twitch. It was just more convenient for me to do that so I did. Like I wasn't pulling big numbers so the emotes rarely got used which is people's biggest sticking point for twitch right now.
