This is by far the best video of this sort. I've seen so much BS, leaving out important information, such as torque specs, and where to set the wrench exactly. Even how to clean parts is covered here. Other videos just say "clean it a bit." BS! This one is just perfect, even showing how to drive after installing the new stuff.
This is by far the BEST VW GLI Brake and Rotor replacement video EVER!!! I replaced my brakes 2 years ago and couldn't find any good detailed video with the actual footage of what it will look like. It was lways a little different.
I used this vid to do the brakes all around on my 2017 Alltrack. It definitely helps to have the car on a lift for the rear brakes as those triple square bolts require a lot of leverage to break free and you have to stand under the vehicle to get it done. Very happy with the results.
I just did the rear brakes on my 2016 Jetta Sport this last Sunday, very vice video wish you would have posted earlier! I was able to remove my rear rotors without removing the carrier? Anyway...nice one! ❤️
Really good vid. I do have to say tho...it was pretty hard to take this dude seriously at first with him working on the car in his black leather biker\shop jacket lolol.
I found it kinda odd how everwhere i watched said i need too rotate the rear pistons in but when i used that tool even with lots of rotational force it wouldnt budge at all. And then i pushed it straight in with a c clamp and it went in with minimal force. The ammount of force you could generate in between two fingers. It was concerning but my brakes work so wth😂
I have a MK6 GTI; while bleeding the breaks why do you start at LF (closest to the master cylinder) instead of RR (furthest away from the master cylinder) like most cars?
Cause ze Germans. I love my GTI, but hot damn these cars are filled with German over specification, which is almost excessive everywhere. Like the caliper bolts that you have to replace because they’re torqued to yield. That’s the first I’ve seen that crap. I’ve never done that on any of the other cars I’ve owned and never had an issue with brake caliper bolts walking out between brake jobs.
I did this job on my mk6 gti, and was surprised when AllData told me that the order is FL>FR>RL>RR. I did it the opposite way last year, still no issues.
What about bleeding with ABS? I’m needing to replace the calipers as well, but don’t have any OBD software. Do I even need it when bleeding the system?
Wtf😂. My mk7 gli's front are like the the mk6 rear. And the rear are like the mk6 front.... in terms of the hardware too take them apart. (The front on the mk7 are like going on a walk while the rear are like running from a bear....i was unsuccessful in attempt too seapping my rear rotors aka i did a 75% brake job😂🫠🥲. Really sad cuz now i have 200$ worth of rotors i dont know if ill ever be able too use on the rear because i just couldnt get that carrier off....
I bought a wing and it came broken why the hell would anyone order something from you guys that will compromise safety like brakes or engine components. Wild.

Glad it helped!

Finally, some good GLI Mk6 content! Nice video, every step nicely detail. Hope to see more GLI MK6 content!

Can always count on ECS for my euro cars. Thanks for the instructions!
Happy to help!
When I do brakes I always apply anti-seize compound to the hub face and rotor set screw. It makes next time that much easier.
Thanks for video! My 2011 Jetta TDI has 269,000 miles and it's time for its first break job
Lmaooo

You can tip the rear rotors out without removing the carrier. At most just loosen it a bit to wiggle out the rotor at a 45 degree angle.
Really good vid. I do have to say tho...it was pretty hard to take this dude seriously at first with him working on the car in his black leather biker\shop jacket lolol.
Buddy just works in a leather jacket??
Rock and roll baby :)))
Air conditioned shops are a thing of beauty my friend. 🖤
Excellent video
Great Video bro. Doing my brakes this weekend. Your video popped up at a good time. Thanks 👍🏻👊🏻....✌🏻out
Man I coulda used this video like 4 yrs ago.
Thanks a lot for the video..
no mention of parking brake adjustment ?

What size rotors did you use for the fronts and rears?
Can we get one of these for the next model year. No good content on 2019+ gli front breaks out here.
Excellent video, thanks!!
What's the exhaust you got on this gli it sounds really good!
I didn’t see all the tools used on the link provided.
Only thing I’m missing to do this job is the John travolta jacket
Does this fit for a 2017 vw Jetta s
Is this the same process for a mk6 golf TDI front?
Are the GLI front calibers are good upgrade over my stock TDI or about the same performance?
I don't own a VW, but strangely enough i find myself watching this. P.S. I have a BMW
Show what tools and how to disable e- break.
Are the steps the same for an mk6 GTI? What about the torque values? Thanks!
I have a set screw stuck in my hub do you have a link to get tool to re thread the hub after drilling the old one out ?
Here you go! bit.ly/3mwYaqn

my guy working in a leather jacket, mike jackson style
Just wondering, how come the pump instructions say not to exceed 20psi but you mention to go to 30psi per vw??
Are those real paddle shifters?
ah la rouille c est beau!!!
How long did the whole job take to complete?
With the right tools and parts, you can do it in 1-2 hours.
What about bleeding with ABS? I’m needing to replace the calipers as well, but don’t have any OBD software. Do I even need it when bleeding the system?
I have a mk6 GTI, if your e-brake/hand brake is not electric/electronic you do not need any obd tool.
Can gti pads an rotors bolt on no problem?
Does anyone make videos for a 2019 Jetta model?
Did you find any?
@@JMods847 nope
2019 is a relatively new model, videos appear for models 5 years or older or when they start needing maintenance
Sure that you have them installed in the tight direction ? Usually the hole pattern on the disc is the opposite way.
rotation of holes to enter disc not exit he is correct
All I know is that the original slotted rotors that I saw on the front driver wheel was facing the wrong direction.
Where’s Zach jobe
What exhaust is that?
Lol who works on a car looking like Elvis Presley?
Is it cold in your shop? Why are you wearing a leather jacket? Is it more a statement rather than functionality?
remettre des disques neufs sur de la rouille ? la fusee bouffee la clé dynamo oui oui mais bon !!
jesus son why didn't you cleanb the hub properly? the rust not taken off will cause discc to wobble guaranteed.

Easy on the brake kleen, buddy. 🤨
Obviously he has no idea what putting the grease on the back of the pad is for!!!!!!!
If your going to criticize, Then plez tell you theory. So easy to talk smack, but not giving your wrong explanation.
Rotors do not warp..
hithere, what kind of tool did you used of: 12:40
It was a spline / triple square m12 if im not mistaken, you could buy a set on amazon if you wanto to work on VAG cars
look for [Spline 1/2 drive set]
Forgot to mention
Spline 1/2 bit set
not socket
